Chapter 516 - Chapter 517: Buppah Rahtree

Edward's gaming session was cut short because someone came knocking, asking him to write a script. After thinking it over, Edward decided to shoot a film called Buppah Rahtree as a transitional project.

After all, he had just finished filming The Victim, and originally he did not intend to shoot another movie so soon. But because his older brother's friend had specifically come to ask a favor through his older brother, Edward had no way to refuse and thus agreed to create a new film.

There was a girl named Buppah, a medical student. She was beautiful and gentle by nature, though she had very few friends. Her favorite thing to do every day was to stay in the library alone, reading quietly. But because she was so attractive, she drew the attention of many male students.

Among them was a wealthy young man named Ake, a typical rich second-generation heir. What intrigued Ake the most was that Buppah had once rejected the confession of one of his good friends, even though that friend was famously handsome and considered the school's "prince" in many girls' hearts. This made Ake extremely curious: why would Buppah refuse someone like that? And of course, Ake himself was deeply drawn to Buppah's beauty.

Thus, he began secretly following her. He even learned where she lived and would bring her porridge every day, though Buppah never once responded to him.

This left Ake somewhat disappointed. Still, wanting to give himself closure, he decided he would bring porridge one last time. If Buppah still ignored him, he would give up on this impossible affection.

Yet strangely, on that day, when Ake arrived in his sports car to deliver the porridge, Buppah actually initiated conversation with him. Ake was delighted. But then, Buppah asked whether the sports car parked outside was his. Ake nodded. Buppah replied that she wanted to be like a little bird and fly freely. So, Ake drove her around the city.

Even so, Ake felt a faint disappointment. He suspected that Buppah was just another materialistic girl. All those days he delivered porridge, he never arrived in his sports car—and during that time, she ignored him. The moment he showed up with the car, she spoke to him. This made him uncomfortable.

As a wealthy heir, Ake never lacked this type of woman. He had chosen Buppah precisely because she seemed so different from the others—an unusual aura, a distinct temperament, and beauty that radiated from her. That uniqueness had drawn him in. But now, realizing she might be no different from anyone else, Ake felt her mysterious charm collapse instantly.

Yet, at that moment, Buppah calmly sat inside the car and told him she had long known he was following her. She even knew all sorts of details about him, his family background, his blood type, his personal relationships, even information about his home life.

This astonished Ake. There was no logical way she should know any of this.

Then Buppah told him he also had a girlfriend overseas. This shocked him even more. But Ake still held Buppah's hand and assured her he had no one else, only her.

After that, their relationship escalated quickly. Feeling Buppah was no different from other women, Ake brought her to a beach and spent three days with her there. They never left the hotel room, spending the entire time "discussing life and ideals."

Afterward, Ake asked why she had rejected his handsome friend, since that friend was also from a wealthy family. Buppah replied simply that his friend lied, but Ake did not. That was why she accepted him.

Then the scene shifted: a television was playing a video of Buppah and Ake in the hotel room, discussing life. It was then revealed what had been happening all along.

Ake and a group of wealthy young men were watching the video together. His handsome friend laughed bitterly, admitting defeat, clapping while handing Ake a bottle of expensive alcohol. It turned out this group of rich second-generation heirs had been gambling, bettors wagering on when Ake would "conquer" Buppah, the school beauty. Now that Ake had succeeded, everyone else lost the bet.

Afterward, Ake immediately changed his phone number.

To him, Buppah was just another woman drawn to his wealth. She held no real appeal. Meanwhile, Buppah tried to contact him repeatedly but could not reach him. On a bus, she sensed someone behind her, turned around with hope, only to see an elderly man, not Ake. Her disappointment deepened, her eyes filled with quiet pain.

That same day, Ake was having dinner at home. His family was discussing his plans to study abroad, and they soon confirmed the destination: the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, at school, Buppah stood blankly inside the restroom.

In her hand was a pregnancy test. The positive line revealed she was pregnant. She did not know what to do. She wanted to call Ake, but the call would not go through.

Her stepfather soon arrived to pick her up and gave her a fountain pen. Buppah recoiled instantly. Instead of taking her home, he brought her to a hotel. Long ago, Buppah's stepfather had violated her, which was why she feared going home, hated it, and preferred to stay on campus. That trauma was the real reason she refused to return home.

She pleaded tearfully for him not to do this again. But he forced himself on her. Devastated and desperate, Buppah clutched the fountain pen and stabbed him fiercely. Injuring him, she seized the chance to escape. She returned to her rented apartment, intending to end her own life with a knife. But at that moment, her phone rang—it was Ake, asking her to meet.

When they met, Ake admitted everything: the bet, the alcohol, the game behind his actions. He also told her he would soon leave for the UK, but if she needed help, she could ask him. Buppah showed him the pregnancy test and asked how he planned to help now. Ake was shocked, but he returned home and told his mother.

Later, he met Buppah again and said his parents did not want to ruin her future. They wanted her to have an abortion. After she finished university, they would arrange for her and Ake to get married. Buppah believed him. Ake took her to undergo the abortion procedure.

Afterward, he brought her back to Room 609, her rented apartment. Ake told her he would go downstairs to buy porridge for her recovery. But he did not buy porridge. Instead, he drove away and left the country for the UK the very next day, abandoning her completely in Room 609.

Then time jumped forward.

One month later, the landlady knocked on Buppah's door, asking if she had paid rent. If not, she would be evicted. Buppah replied through the door that she would pay tomorrow. The landlady left. The next day, she and a lame security guard checked again. No rent had been paid.

Annoyed, the landlady knocked again. No response. She had no choice but to open the door with her key. But the chain lock was engaged from the inside. The landlady knew Buppah had to be there. Irritated, she called a worker to saw through the chain. As soon as they stepped inside, they were hit by an overwhelming stench.

Confused by the smell, the landlady looked around. The worker opened the bathroom door—and screamed. The landlady rushed over and also screamed in terror.

Inside was Buppah's corpse, covered entirely in blood. The whole room was splattered with it. Her body had decayed, rotting severely. She had been dead for quite some time.

The police arrived soon after. The landlady sat in shock. A police officer told her that the forensic report confirmed Buppah had been dead for a month. The cause of death was not trauma, but massive internal bleeding caused by the abortion, hence the blood everywhere.

But the landlady was horrified. She claimed she had seen Buppah alive just yesterday, answering the door. The police insisted it was impossible; Buppah had been dead for a full month.

Meanwhile, paramedics prepared to move the corpse. But suddenly the body bag began shaking violently. The medics jumped back in fear. None of them had touched it. As they stared, the body bag abruptly sat upright.

The two medics fled without hesitation, shouting that the corpse was haunted. Onlookers exchanged frightened glances. A mustached officer stepped toward the room to investigate, but the door suddenly slammed shut. He tried opening it, but from inside came a woman's voice shouting for them to get out.

Everyone froze. There was only one corpse inside—Buppah's. Combined with the previous incidents, people quickly realized something supernatural was happening.

Still, the police refused to believe it. One officer kicked the door. Immediately, a different officer beside him doubled over and dropped to his knees as if the kick had struck him instead. As the mustached officer bent down to check on his colleague, another police officer kicked the door—and this time, the mustached officer collapsed as though the force had rebounded onto him.

The realization hit everyone at once, they had run into a ghost. Panic spread, and the group fled, leaving the landlady behind. She asked what to do with the corpse. The mustached officer said he would file a report. With no help left, the landlady sought assistance from a local "miracle worker"—a self-proclaimed spiritual medium.

At first, the man refused, but after some persuasion, he reluctantly agreed. He put on makeup to resemble the Monkey King, grabbed a staff, and began performing rituals. He managed to enter the apartment.

But before anyone could celebrate, the door slammed shut. Inside, the medium muttered that he was doomed and tried to flee, but his staff had disappeared. Forced to investigate the bedroom, he found the staff on the bed, alongside the body bag containing Buppah's corpse.

The corpse suddenly sat upright. Terrified, the medium shut his eyes, mumbling that it must be an illusion. When he reopened his eyes, everything appeared normal again. Hoping to retrieve his staff, he extended his hand—only for another hand to suddenly reach out and grab him. He screamed. Those outside heard his cries and recoiled in fear.

Moments later, the door burst open, and the medium ran out, covered in blood, fleeing in panic.

Out of options, the medium took the landlady to his teacher, a genuine master. That night, the master accompanied them to the apartment. At first, everything looked normal. The master suspected the medium had faked the haunting to extort money and scolded him. He then had his assistants lift the corpse.

But as soon as they tried, the door slammed shut. Shocked, they dropped the corpse. The master insisted it was just the wind and went inside with a rope to tie the corpse down. But as soon as he stepped inside, the female corpse twitched violently. The master jumped back, rattled. Determined to save face, he retrieved a ritual dagger.

Just as he lifted the dagger to enter the room, the lights went out. People screamed in the darkness. The medium lit a candle, and the master stepped in, stabbing the corpse. Lightning flashed outside, illuminating the room in sharp bursts. The master turned his head—and saw that while the corpse was still lying there, Buppah's ghost had appeared beside it.

She lunged at him, clawing and striking in fury. The door flung open, and everyone bolted out. The landlady frantically asked where the corpse was. At that moment, the master staggered out, his own ritual dagger stuck in his back, fleeing in humiliation.

The landlady turned around—and saw Buppah's ghost standing in the hallway. The ghost said:

"Since all of you are so eager to drive me out, now it's my turn to drive you out."

The landlady fled in terror. Buppah's ghost then began haunting and terrifying everyone else involved. Each person who had tried to help or interfere was frightened into chaos, some even jumping out of windows to escape.

The landlady returned home, telling her husband she had seen a ghost. Her husband insisted she had earned too much "dirty money," which caused this retribution. She angrily went to the bathroom—only to open the door and see Buppah's ghost. She ran out, hiding behind her husband.

He scoffed at first, but when he saw the ghost himself, he immediately grabbed his wife and knelt before their household deity, chanting desperately. Only then did Buppah's ghost leave them alone.

Meanwhile, at Ake's home, Ake's mother received a call from him. He said he would return tomorrow.
