Spring Lake City is located a thousand miles away from Spring God City. Compared to the former prosperity of Spring Lake City, this place is relatively desolate. However, the moment Xiao Yan saw Spring Lake City, his eyes lit up again.
Before him lay a vast lake, hundreds of miles in size, its waters shimmering, occasionally rippled with huge waves, making the aquatic magical beasts within appear and disappear.
On the shore of this great lake was a slightly smaller city.
The city was sparsely populated, presumably because the commotion in Spring God City had instilled fear in many of its inhabitants.
After all, Spring God City was far more powerful than Spring Lake City, yet it had been almost entirely wiped out in that horrific massacre.
Spring Lake City, being closest to Spring God City, was highly likely to be the next city to be slaughtered.
However, what puzzled the many students behind Xiao Yan was that there were quite a few people fishing with rods right next to Spring Lake City.
Spring Lake City is likely facing annihilation. Why aren't these people fleeing? Why are they idly fishing by the lake?
Seeing the carefree expressions on their faces, the group of students looked bewildered.
"Hehe, what's so surprising about that? For a fisherman, even if the sky falls, he'll still cast his line a couple of times."
Xiao Yan smiled slightly. Just then, a fisherman's fishing rod was suddenly snatched away by a powerful force.
Seeing this, the fisherman's face showed shock and anger. Then, to everyone's astonishment, he jumped into the lake with a 'plop' and desperately swam towards his fishing rod.
But before he could grab the rod, a wave several meters high surged from the lake, followed by a huge head flying out of the water and swallowing the fisherman whole.
Seeing this, the group of people were slightly stunned, exchanging glances with puzzled expressions.
"Let's go." Seeing this, Xiao Yan stopped watching and led the group towards the city.
For a fisherman, this was nothing out of the ordinary.
Upon entering Spring Lake City, a dazzling array of fishing tackle shops came into view.
After all, Spring Lake City's bustling atmosphere was inseparable from its reputation as the fishing capital of the Black Corner Region.
Rumor had it that every year, someone in Spring Lake City would catch a fish weighing a thousand pounds, and some had even caught a fifth-tier magical beast.
However, the latter usually met a tragic end, perhaps being swallowed whole by the fifth-tier magical beast. It was also rumored that there was a sixth-tier dragon in Spring Lake, but those who caught it were all dead.
Even so, countless fishermen were still drawn to Spring Lake City every year, solely because of the large fish.
However, since the incident in Spring God City, most of the tourists and even residents of Spring Lake City had moved away.
After all, most people were still clear-headed. Compared to their lives, fishing or some property seemed insignificant.
Even so, for the vast majority of those whose wealth remained in Spring Lake City, leaving was still unbearable.
Therefore, although Spring Lake City was much sparsely populated, it still retained a certain warmth and humanity, and it was this warmth that somewhat diluted the hellish experience they had encountered in Spring God City a few days prior.
After a simple meal, the group found a quiet inn to stay in.
"Innkeeper, why are you looking at us like that?"
Lin Yan was somewhat displeased with the innkeeper's gaze.
"Not at all, not at all, I'm very welcoming."
Hearing Lin Yan's words, the innkeeper quickly changed his expression and immediately arranged accommodations for everyone.
Only after settling everyone in did the innkeeper return to the lobby and sigh helplessly.
"Another bunch of reckless fishermen."
He said this, but he had no intention of persuading them to leave.
If they left, where would he collect his commission?
"Since that's the case, everyone should get some rest. Consider these days in Spring Lake City a vacation. If we can successfully resolve the matter of the two elders, I'll give everyone a generous reward when we get back."
After some casual conversation that evening, Xiao Yan dismissed the students amidst their cheers and returned to his room.
However, after only a brief moment of rest with his eyes closed, he opened them again and vanished.
The next moment, he appeared in the largest fishing tackle shop in Spring Lake City.
"Boss, give me a set of your best fishing tackle."
Xiao Yan, who had just stepped into the shop, heard a familiar voice. It was Lin Yan.
"This kid..." Xiao Yan's lips twitched slightly.
"Sir, our best fishing tackle can catch third-tier magical beasts. A set costs a million. Are you sure?"
The shop owner looked at Lin Yan suspiciously. Hearing this, Lin Yan was dumbfounded, his face flushing slightly.
A million gold coins was a considerable sum for him. Although he could afford it, it would almost cost him his entire fortune.
Just as he was about to give up, a faint laugh came from behind him.
"Boss, give me a set of this fishing tackle."
Hearing the familiar voice, Lin Yan's body stiffened slightly. When he turned around, he saw Xiao Yan smilingly patting his shoulder.
"Good lad, you're faster than me."
Hearing Xiao Yan's voice, the boss was about to remind him again when he saw Xiao Yan casually toss out a purple-gold card.
"There are two million gold coins in here. Give me a set of your best fishing tackle."
Hearing this, the boss trembled. After carefully examining the purple-gold card, a fawning expression appeared on his face.
"Yes, sir, I'll prepare it for you right away."
The boss was about to leave when he heard another voice coming from the shop entrance.
"Boss, take this place..." Before the words were finished, the voice froze. Xiao Yan and Lin Yan turned around and saw Lin Xiuya looking embarrassed.
The three exchanged glances and then gave each other awkward but polite smiles.
"What a coincidence!"
"Yes, yes."
As they spoke, another rather beautiful figure walked in. This time, it was a female student.
"What a coincidence, everyone's here."
The female student had just finished smiling when footsteps sounded behind her again. After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Xiao Yan looked at the six students in front of him and fell into deep thought.
Of this group of ten, six were fishing enthusiasts!
Surprised, Xiao Yan was somewhat relieved that Han Yue wasn't here, otherwise the awkwardness would have been even greater.
Thinking of this, he scanned the inn with his soul power with some relief, but then his expression changed.
Han Yue wasn't in the inn at all!
Even as his soul power swept across the entire Spring Lake City, he couldn't find the other party. But just as his soul power continued to expand its range, a scene unfolded that caused a strange expression to rise on his face.
