Both groups looked toward the source of the voice, each with different thoughts. Then, a shockingly young face appeared in their view, and the scene froze once more.
A black-robed teenager, no older than sixteen or seventeen, strode forward, all the excitement of a hero saving the day.
Seeing this, the hope on Canaan Academy students' faces instantly drained, replaced by despair. Their expressions turned even paler.
Meanwhile, the Blood Sect team was now in total chaos—no, not chaos—they were laughing uncontrollably.
"Who in the world is this?" Fan Ling finally laughed at the sight of Xiao Yan's heroic pose. "Turns out he's just an idiot!"
After laughing, he glared coldly at Xiao Yan.
"You brat, for making me laugh, I might just spare your life. Leave now, and you may yet live."
"Leave?" Xiao Yan shook his head with a smile. "I already said—let go of those girls."
As he spoke, his steps drew closer to both groups. When he reached the Canaan Academy team, he first scanned the female students.
Then he shook his head in mild disappointment.
Their appearances were decent, but far from top-tier beauty. Even the blue-robed mature woman, though attractive, fell short compared to Ya Fei.
Though the young emperor wanted to spread love to every woman, that was obviously impossible. Life in the Yan Alliance had already shown him that managing countless beauties was no simple task.
So, Xiao Yan could only raise his standards for rescue.
The blue-robed woman didn't know his thoughts. She only saw the foolish black-robed boy coming closer and offered a faint, pitiful smile.
"Young man, you'd better leave. You're no match for them."
Ruolin had almost given up. Now, she only hoped that this kind-hearted boy wouldn't be dragged into trouble by her group.
Unexpectedly, the boy only chuckled, shook his head, and then leered at the women.
"Drive them away, and then all of you will be mine!"
At this, Ruolin's delicate face froze slightly, and the students behind her gaped in shock.
Normally, they'd punch this lecherous youth without hesitation—but now, facing imminent danger, they had no energy to be angry.
From afar, the Blood Sect members laughed.
"Brothers, how has an idiot like this survived in the Black-Corner Region until today? Hahaha, too funny."
Even Fan Ling, the leader, couldn't help laughing.

Despite their mockery, Xiao Yan's face remained lightly smiling.
"Leave now—this is your last chance. Otherwise, you won't get another."
Hearing this, Fan Ling finally let his smile fade.
"An idiot like you… living is a burden. Fine, today I'll give you a taste of enlightenment. Heh heh, I'll toss you to the Blood Ants and let them chew your brains!"
Before he could finish, a violent gust of wind swept across his face. Pain stabbed him, and before he could react, a massive hand flashed before his eyes.
The next moment, the world darkened as Fan Ling slammed hard into the ground.
Only then did the crisp slap echo across the area. Everyone looked on, and two figures of the boy appeared in the air—one real, his foot planted on Fan Ling's face, the other a shadowy afterimage in front of Ruolin.
"Residual image!" Everyone's eyes widened.
Now they understood: the boy wasn't an idiot—he was a genuine master.
After a brief moment of shock, Canaan Academy's students burst into relieved smiles. But then they remembered his lecherous grin, and their expressions soured again.
"I told you, that was your last chance."
Xiao Yan smiled down at Fan Ling beneath his foot. "Gave you a chance, and you couldn't use it."
"Bastard! I'll kill you!" Fan Ling struggled, humiliated like never before.
"My father is the Blood Sect leader! Dare to kill me, and you'll die!"
Seeing he couldn't win, he called for his father—but Xiao Yan ignored him completely.
"Ha!" Xiao Yan drew in a breath, then spat out—not phlegm, but a multicolored flame.
Fan Ling's furious eyes went wide in terror.
"Ex… exotic flame! No…"
Before he could finish, the flame pierced his body, igniting him in brilliant multicolored fire.
The flames burned briefly and vanished—and with them, Fan Ling's body.
The young Blood Sect heir never even screamed, reduced to a pile of ash beneath the boy's foot.
Even more chilling: the boy had killed with a single spit!
Silence returned.
"What level of fool dares to laugh 'heh heh heh'?" Xiao Yan asked lightly, his flame-wreathed fingertip now holding a tiny multicolored serpent.
"Don't blame me—blame yourselves for following the wrong person."
"Help! Help!" The Blood Sect members panicked, their faces crumbling as the tiny serpent swam through them with a flick of Xiao Yan's fingers.
One by one, muffled screams filled the air as members were turned to ash in moments.
Finally, Xiao Yan turned to face the wide-eyed students of Canaan Academy, the danger now over.
