Chapter 22 - My New Tux

I finally finished it.

And it worked.

It actually worked.

For a few seconds, I simply stood there, staring at the formal suit spread across the workbench. Every hidden rune had settled into a steady rhythm, glowing faintly beneath the iron before disappearing entirely beneath its polished black surface.

A laugh escaped my lips.

Not because it was funny.

Because after nearly two days of planning, shaping, engraving, and second-guessing every line I'd carved...

I'd actually done it.

Overcome with excitement, I immediately reached for the jacket.

As I began taking off my clothes, an old memory surfaced from Earth.

"Honey... where's my super suit?"

I couldn't help letting out a quiet giggle.

"...Still funny."

Piece by piece, I pulled on the suit.

The trousers came first.

The moment I fastened the waistband, I felt the adaptive rune activate.

It wasn't dramatic.

There wasn't a flash of light or surge of magic.

Instead, the material shifted almost imperceptibly against my skin, tightening just enough to fit comfortably around my waist and legs.

It felt... tailored.

Perfectly.

No loose fabric.

No pressure points.

No stiffness.

I bent one knee experimentally.

Then the other.

"...Seriously?"

The movement was effortless.

If I hadn't forged it myself, I would've sworn it was ordinary cloth.

Next came the shirt.

As the sleeves settled over my arms, they subtly adjusted to the length of my wrists. The collar rested comfortably around my neck without feeling restrictive.

Then...

The jacket.

I slipped one arm through.

Then the other.

The adaptive enchantments rippled through the garment like a gentle breeze.

The shoulders shifted into place.

The sleeves shortened by a fraction of an inch.

The waist tapered just enough to match my frame.

I rolled my shoulders.

Nothing.

No resistance.

No scraping.

No weight.

The gravity runes had reduced nearly all of the suit's mass, leaving only the reassuring sensation of wearing a well-made set of court clothes.

Only when I tapped my sleeve with a knuckle—

Clink.

—did reality remind me that I was wearing something far sturdier than it looked.

I walked over to the mirror.

For a long moment...

I just stared.

The suit looked elegant rather than ostentatious. Its deep black finish caught the workshop lights in subtle highlights, while every seam was so clean and simple it looked professionally tailored. There was no embroidery, no bright trim, no unnecessary decoration—just sharp lines, a refined shape, and a quiet kind of confidence that made the whole thing look more expensive than anything covered in gold thread ever could.

"...Okay."

A grin slowly spread across my face.

"I look good."

"Bradly!" I called.

A few moments later, the workshop door opened.

"What is it, Young Master—"

Bradly stopped mid-sentence.

His eyes widened.

"If you don't mind me asking... what are you wearing?"

I spread my arms with a smile.

"My newest invention."

"The formal suit."

He circled me once, examining every angle.

"That's... not ordinary fabric."

"It isn't."

Bradly reached out and pressed two fingers against the sleeve.

His brows rose.

"It feels like cloth."

"Gravity reduction, adaptive fitting, structural reinforcement, and..." I couldn't help smiling proudly, "...a new rune I designed myself."

Bradly looked at me.

"You invented a rune?"

"I think so."

"I've never seen one like it."

"What does it do?"

"It continuously gathers ambient mana from the surroundings and distributes it through the enchantment network."

For several seconds, Bradly simply stared.

Then he quietly said,

"...Call Luka and Celest."

"Huh?"

"If this works the way you claim..."

"...they need to see it."

A few minutes later, Luka and Celest had gathered inside the workshop.

Luka was the first to speak.

"...Well."

He tilted his head, studying me from top to bottom.

"It's remarkably plain."

Celest smiled.

"I like it."

She stepped closer, her eyes bright with interest.

"It's elegant because it isn't trying too hard."

Bradly folded his arms.

"Adam."

"Show them."

I nodded.

Then explained each enchantment in turn, watching their expressions slowly change from curiosity... to genuine astonishment as I demonstrated the adaptive fit, the gravity reduction, and finally the new mana-collection rune.

When I finished, silence filled the room.

Luka was the first to break it.

"...You made formal clothing that can do all that?"

Celest stepped closer, studying the suit with wide eyes.

"And it still looks refined."

Bradly nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the suit.

"You're telling me this thing is light, durable, self-adjusting, and can recharge itself?"

I gave a small, proud shrug.

"That's the idea."

Luka let out a low whistle.

"And it doesn't need all sorts of embroidery or jewels to look impressive."

Celest turned to me with a bright smile.

"People would pay a fortune for something like this."

Bradly rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"And if anyone else saw it, they'd try to copy it."

He looked back at me.

"You've created formal clothing that functions like armor."

"Requires virtually no maintenance."

"And powers itself."

A faint smile crossed his face.

"If perfected..."

"...every noble in the kingdom would want one."

Celest nodded.

"And every craftsman would want to study it."

Luka folded his arms.

"Which means you probably shouldn't let this leave the workshop until you've figured out how to protect the design."

Bradly gave a short, approving nod.

"He's right."

Then he looked at me again, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Congratulations, Young Master."

"I don't think you just made a suit."

"I think you accidentally founded a business."
