When six o'clock came, the class ended with the ringing of the bell.
Zhang Shaoqing practically jumped out of his seat, rushing up to the podium like a man possessed.
"Teacher! There's a concept I don't quite understand!"
He slapped his hands on the podium, leaning forward eagerly toward Miss Qian.
As a teacher, Qian Qian was always willing to help students. She paused mid-packing her lesson materials and looked up at him with a soft smile. "Sure, I have time right now."
Her gentle voice had a hint of huskiness to it, making Zhang Shaoqing feel like his bones were melting. He grabbed his textbook, flipped through the pages… and froze.
Crap. He didn't understand any of it.
He was your classic second-gen rich kid, it's normal for him to barely ever pay attention in class, right?
"Uhh… I don't get this part," he pointed randomly. "And this… and this too…"
Qian Qian's smile started to stiffen. "Um… this might take a while to explain."
"That's fine! How about I add you on WeChat? I can just ask you online if I run into questions."
Though she was new to the job, she wasn't naive. It didn't take long for her to pick up on his real intentions.
Her gaze became cautious as she studied his overly intense expression—something about it just felt predatory.
"I really don't understand," Zhang Shaoqing said again, his voice softening as if pleading.
"…Alright then."
Back at their desks, Ning Chu and Wen Yang didn't rush to leave—they just sat there watching the drama unfold.
"Damn, that's one bold move," Ning Chu whistled. "If he had been this direct with Ling Ling, he might not have lost his childhood sweetheart."
She felt a bit relieved, honestly.
It might be a shameless, persistent kind of chase, but at least it suited Zhang Shaoqing's character.
At least, it's far better than the blackmail nonsense from the original story.
"Looks like he learned his lesson," Wen Yang commented. "He's probably scared of getting cut off again."
This was the first time Wen Yang had seen Zhang Shaoqing this eager.
Sure, he'd shown interest in other cat girls before, but nothing like this.
Guess guys really did like curvy types.
Those other cat girls had all been flat…
Unlike his little succubus, who was blossoming nicely under his careful cultivation.
"I did it!" Zhang Shaoqing announced proudly as he strutted back to his desk, practically bouncing with joy.
Ning Chu looked up at him. "So, now that you've got her WeChat, what's the plan?"
"Uh… play it by ear?"
"Ning Chu! Give me back the spray that I gave yo—"
"No way!"
Figures! He's already thinking about using shady methods again!
"Tch. It was mine in the first place," he muttered, turning to Wang Jie. "You got any questions? I'll go ask her for you."
"Do you even understand it?"
"Hah! Do you know who I am?" He slapped the textbook. "I don't understand a damn thing! It's gibberish!"
So, he was going to pretend to be a diligent student to get closer to Qian Qian? Classic move.
"Come on, help me out here," Zhang Shaoqing pleaded, sitting across from the group and staring at them hopefully. "I've never chased a girl before. Got any tips?"
Everyone fell silent, glancing around awkwardly.
"Wang Jie, you go first!"
"Me? I was the one being chased, remember?"
"What about you two?" he asked, pointing at Wen Yang and Ning Chu. "Don't tell me Ning Chu chased you too?"
Wen Yang shook his head and answered with hesitation, "We just… clicked. Things felt right, and it happened naturally."
Then he added skeptically, "Wait a second—Miss Qian is at least a master's graduate, right? So, she's gotta be 25 or older. You really want to go for it?"
"Hey, ever heard the saying: 'old age is golden, a treasure we should embrace'? So what if she's a few years older?" Zhang Shaoqing scoffed.
"Pretty sure the school doesn't allow student-teacher relationships."
"Screw the school! Those idiots can't even run their own lives, and now they wanna manage mine?"
Zhang Shaoqing clearly didn't care about rules or consequences.
He then turned to Ning Chu. "You're a girl—what's your take on this?"
"Uh…"
Ning Chu was completely caught off guard.
She'd only been a girl for a few months. Before that, she was just a clueless virgin boy who'd never been in love—how the heck was she supposed to know anything?
"So, what made you fall for Wen Yang? What kind of guy do girls generally like?"
Ning Chu didn't even know how the conversation had turned toward her. Her face flushed red as she stammered, "Wen Yang's tall… he makes me feel safe, I guess…"
When she'd first transmigrated, she was lost and scared. Zhang Shaoqing kept picking fights with her, Wang Jie might as well have been invisible, and only Wen Yang had looked after her.
When she fainted in panic after first becoming a girl, it was Wen Yang who rushed her to the hospital.
When this hentai world seemed full of hidden dangers, Wen Yang's status as the protagonist made her feel protected. With his height and calm demeanor, he could actually keep her safe.
"That's it?" Zhang Shaoqing scoffed. "You guys are no help at all."
"I have some suggestions."
"Like what?"
"Don't use shady tricks! If you like her, pursue her properly!" Ning Chu glared at him. "You were literally thinking about using the hypnosis spray just now!"
"Tch, I was just joking around."
Yeah right. Anyone could tell what he really meant.
Ning Chu tugged at Wen Yang's sleeve. "We're heading back."
"Hey! Why don't you help me get close to Qian Qian? You could be my spy on the inside!"
"Tomorrow."
"Why're you two in such a hurry to leave?"
To be honest, Ning Chu wasn't very optimistic about Zhang Shaoqing's chances.
Not because he wasn't attractive—despite his lazy attitude, his family background alone beat out 99% of single guys.
But… his mom was a control freak of the highest level.
As evening settled in, the cold wind picked up again. It bit at their faces and had Ning Chu instinctively shrinking her neck like a turtle.
She pulled her scarf up high, covering half her face. Only her bright, pretty eyes peeked out, gazing at the road ahead.
"You passed the bus stop," Wen Yang said, stopping in his tracks and glancing behind them.
"I wanted to get some snacks."
"Tell me what you want, I'll buy it. It's cold."
When Ning Chu shook her head, he stepped forward and gently grabbed her cold, soft hand, wrapping it in his own. "Your hands are freezing. Why didn't you put them in your pockets?"
"I wanted to play on my phone."
She could clearly feel the warmth radiating from Wen Yang's palm, and couldn't help but scoot closer to him—somehow, she felt warmer all over.
Under the dim evening sky, the streetlight behind them stretched their shadows long on the pavement.
His tall silhouette overlapped with hers, the two figures tightly entwined.
Leaves drifted down from the trees, spinning in the wind before being blown away into the distance.
She narrowed her eyes, then asked softly, "Wen Yang."
"Hmm?"
"My feet are sore."
"Want to head back first?"
"No, carry me!"
Wen Yang froze. Out of habit, he gave in with a smile and crouched down. "You're just being lazy. Your feet aren't sore."
Ning Chu immediately flung herself onto his back, catching Wen Yang off guard and almost sending him stumbling.
He barely managed to steady himself when he felt her icy cheek press against his, nuzzling softly like a cat.
"Your face is warm~"
"You're using me as a human heater, huh?" he chuckled gently.
As he lifted her legs and stood up, his whole body suddenly shuddered and he inhaled sharply. "Don't stick your hands into my shirt like that!"
"Consider it the payment for an ice cream later!"
