Watching the man being beaten to a pulp, Selina felt a new kind of terror. Zane was emitting a dangerous, scary aura she had never seen before—as if he were possessed by something ancient and violent.
In that moment, he was more frightening than the man he was killing.
"Your end is here," Zane muttered, his fingers tightening into a chokehold around the man's neck. The man's eyes rolled back; he was hanging by a thread between life and the afterlife.
Seeing Zane lost to his bloodlust, Selina scrambled up, screaming, "Stop it, Zane! You'll kill him!"
"And that's exactly what I should do!" he barked, completely out of his mind. "He deserves it!"
"No! You can't! Don't tell me you're a murderer!" Her voice echoed through the hollow room, and Zane's hand froze instantly.
