Chapter 79 - Striking block

Everyone who was somehow conscious looked at Rayna, or whatever is possessing her body in enormous distress. Satoya, one of the people who somehow was still conscious, while Johnathan, Edward, Isaac, and of course, Kohayuki were unconscious from how severe the nausea was to them in which they couldn't help but vomit and pass out.

The other person who wasn't unconscious, was Executioner Argoreas, who was fully focused on the approaching young woman with an otherworldly arm that emitted musical notes and a high frequency noise.

My head hurts like hell, I think my ears are ruptured, everythings ringing yet I can still hear that high frequency..

That was when Executioner Argoreas and Rayna vanished before they met before each other seconds away from exchanging blows. Executioner Argoreas was relentlessly swinging his 10 metal spiked ball flail, while Rayna was moving in ways that didn't even seem relatively human. The conflict was quite a sight, as Satoya could see the heavy unease on Executioner Argoreas's face, while Rayna's face was difficult to even see due to the continued flurry of punches.

At a point the Executioner slammed his flail into the ground, causing an explosion that made it seem like a bomb was detonated.

Rayna leapt back, and after her eyes were frantically searching inside the cloud of dust, she pounced into the dust at great speeds.

The speeds at which Rayna went was fast enough to quickly cause the dust to blow, revealing Rayna grabbing the towering Executioner by the shoulder, and her arm latched onto the scarred arm that also wielded the flail.

Slowly, Rayna puts her foot on the Executioner's chest.

Satoya watched as in a horrifying instant, he witnessed Rayna tear Executioner Argoreas's arm by pushing him in such horrifying strength that the Executioner was sent pummelling into the building behind him.

Rayna, who still was holding the torn off arm of Argoreas, tossed it away like trash.

"That bitch tore Executioner Argoreas's arm off! We need to help him!"

The group of Juries the Satoya Gang initially saw who were merely observing them charged at them, or specifically their target is Rayna.

Are they idiots? She ripped an Executioner's arm off what makes them think they can win? I don't even think they can stall her till backup.

Satoya thought as he watched Rayna gently grab 3 shiny golden strings in her instrument-like arm. In a sweeping motion, she pulled the strings back, Satoya realized that the strings weren't as he had thought, as the strings were elastic enough to not be ripped out.

The sound it made, however, was the worst part. Instead of the high frequency that she kept emitting as she fought the Executioner, this one sounded like a screeching distorted violin.

The sound caused Satoya to vomit, yet he noticed the Juries that were charging at her weren't as affected as he was, which gave him the idea that the further you are from her, the less powerful the sound or frequency she emits was.

As the distorted violin noise kept going, it stopped suddenly as a menacing blade formed in Rayna's hand. Before Satoya knew it, she did a mighty swing that decapitated the group of Juries, despite them being further than where Kohayuki was due to Kohayuki being flown by the Executioner prior.

"To think a failed project would be that powerful, but I do not think this is the time for it to be here."

He heard the voice of someone too familiar to him, the voice of Rin Satomura. He couldn't muster the strength to see where he was, but he knew he was here until Rin appeared by Satoya's side.

"Satoya."

"W-what." Satoya responded, his mouth tasted like vomit.

"This day will be a lot to take in for you.. So prepare yourself."

Rin essentially teleported to Rayna, clashing his bandage wrapped spear against Rayna whose menacing blade pulsated in strange red light. Rin overpowered Rayna with sheer strength, and practically teleported again to grab Rayna's shirt, and smashed her into the ground causing a powerful quake around him that even reached Satoya.

Shortly after.

The unconscious Satoya Gang laid on the ground inside an empty building. The building seemed to have been inhabited, and will return to being inhabited as he knew the evacuation effect was still on so no one would be able to return back to their normal day.

The air around Rin was cold, or perhaps it was Satoya feeling a bit colder due to his presence. Compared to the Rin he first spoke to way early on, and the Rin now, after the death of Saeonius Roland.. Rin was colder, and less forgiving in a way to Satoya specifically. Did Satoya do something he wasn't supposed to do? Something bad enough to anger someone like Rin? Rin was more polite when he spoke to the others which Satoya reminisced as he seen him speak to someone like Isaac or Edward in such a kind hearted tone during the agonizing weeks of interrogation regarding the matter of the deceased Cataclysm, the same Cataclysm who should've died 2 Disasters ago.

"Are they going to be alright?"

"They are physically recovered back to perfect condition, it is simply that they are unconscious."

"But you did something to heal them? Can't you wake them up?"

"Satoya. I merely reversed their wounds."

"What?"

"Let us head upstairs, and talk."

"Whose going to–"

"They will be fine."

Satoya and Rin headed upstairs to an empty office building with cubicles that took up every part of the floor around them.

"What do you need from me? If it is about that que–"

"In truth, I could care less about what your answer to that question was."

"Then why would you ask that?"

Rin ignored the response, and sighed, placing his spear against a cubicle. He held up his hand, and a weird energy formed what looked to be a wooden striking block that would be found in a courtroom.

"This is a totem of the Jurisdiction Gavel. It allows two parties to make an oath, and if any of the two parties were to break the oath, they would suffer punishment directly from the Jurisdiction Gavel itself."

"Why do you have something from the Jurisdiction Gavel?"

"That is irrelevant information."

"Then what oath are you trying to make with me?"

"An Oath to never leak anything that would come from what I am about to tell you."

"What if I break this oath?"

"Who knows? The Jurisdiction Gavel is an unpredictable being, in fact the most enigmatic law of the world like the Yearning Ceremonial Voice."

Satoya clenched his fist. He wasn't even sure if he was ready, and everything he just witnessed happened too fast for him to take in, and even a suspicion of where Rin had come from, as he remembered Rin confronting Saeonius Roland, and now suddenly appearing without any warning to subdue whatever was taking over Rayna.

But maybe what Rin will tell him, will answer some of the questions he was never able to ask? Another thing he also realized was, if the oath had to be agreed upon to work, could Satoya add something to the vow?

"Could I add something to the oath?"

Rin seemed to be surprised by this, making him realize Satoya did indeed change from when he first spoke to him in Rieamaius.

"So you did become more intuitive, but go ahead."

Was that supposed to be an insult? Was he secretly underestimating me?

The thought ran in Satoya's head.

"Will you answer all the questions I have for you?"

"I will not, however I will answer one and only one."

Satoya was obviously getting irritated, but one is better than none, so he nodded his head.

"Fine, I agree to this oath."

After hearing this, Rin tossed the wooden striking block, and it floated perfectly in between the two.

"As I do as well."

Rin held up his hand and as soon as Rin touched it, the wooden striking block glowed intensely. Satoya gulped nervously, but had to agree, so mimicking what Rin did, he touched the wooden striking block.

White words began levitating above the glowing wooden striking block.

The Two Parties Had Agreed…

… To this Oath..

.. Breaking the Oath..

… Will Result In Punishment…
