Chapter 76 - Influx

The inside of the train is quite full, with the Satoya Gang taking up nearly more than half of one of the seats. Kohayuki sat on the far edge, with Satoya sitting beside her, then followed up with Edward, Rayna, Isaac and Johnathan.

Kohayuki is still sipping away at her milk tea, seemingly not giving a single care in the world as she stares at the window ahead of her, looking at the scenery change as the train continues going.

While she is dozing off looking at the outside, Satoya elbows Edward quite urgently, getting his attention. He then quietly, and secretively pointed at Kohayuki's arm, which has 4 greyish-blue flower markings. "Did she always have those?" Satoya whispers.

Edward takes a glance at Kohayuki's arm, and notices it. He found it weird as before they boarded the train, he didn't even see, or at the very least notice those greyish-blue flower markings that are now on her arm. He then asked Satoya in a whisper, "is it like a part of her sweatshirt? I mean the sweatshirt she is wearing seems relatively new."

Satoya cautiously leans a little to see if Edward is right, however he notices how the greyish-blue flower markings are, instead they are somewhat, floating a little bit off of her arm. He then leans back to Edward, telling him what he saw.

Edward nods for a second, "could it be she somehow became a Truth Seeker in the time we haven't seen her?" He whispers.

"I think it's better to ask the nonTruth Seekers of the group, but we should probably continue whispering cuz we don't want to disturb her right now."

"Yeah good point, let me ask Rayna."

Edward elbows Rayna's side, grabbing her attention. He then whispers, "Do you notice anything peculiar about Kohayuki's arm?"

"What?" Rayna leans forward from her seat, and in the least most suspicious way possible glares at Kohayuki's arm, "I don't see anything."

"Huh? Try taking another look!"

"Alright, fine."

Rayna this time squints her eyes, and leans over Edward's lap, she raises an eyebrow after noticing the greyish-blue markings on Kohayuki's arm.

"Did she always have that?"

"You are the second person to ask that now."

"Let me ask Isaac."

Rayna nudges Isaac's side as he's staring mindlessly at his phone.

"What?"

"Look at Kohayuki's arm."

"Why? Is there a bug on her arm?"

"Just look."

Isaac leans as high up as possible to see Kohayuki's arm, which proves to be difficult because there are 3 people blocking his view. To his surprise he notices the markings, so, with the intention of showing Johnathan, proceeds to poke his shoulder.

"What?"

"Have you seen Kohayuki's arm?"

"No? What is there–"

"Dude, just look."

"Alright."

Johnathan essentially stands up from his seat to get a clear look at Kohayuki's arm, and frowns as he nods, he did notice something off, which in this case, is the same thing everyone else noticed.

Simultaneously, Kohayuki takes the last sip of her milk tea in a very casual manner, while she isn't aware of her friends staring at her like a museum exhibit. Actually, she does know, however now her patience has boiled over as her hold on the plastic cup tightens in irritation.

"What the hell do you all want?!"

Their expressions went awkward, some having a cold sweat.

"You guys have been fucking staring at me for like 5 minutes!"

"Do you not notice the stuff on your arm?!" Edward yells back. The commotion they caused made the train car even more awkward as they were being looked at, however the center of attention was on Kohayuki instead of the others.

"What do you mean 'stuff' on my arm?"

"Look for yourself.." Satoya says.

Kohayuki looks at her arm, then looks back up at the others with a rather odd look.

"Did I always have this?"

"Great, now you are the 3rd person to ask that."

"How am I supposed to know? I ain't a weirdo who looks at some girl's arm!"

Satoya covers his face, growing even more annoyed at the situation.

"It's your arm.."

Satoya continues to speak, asking a question that the others were eager to ask.

"So.. Why do you have those markings on your arm? And why those colors?"

Kohayuki shrugs, to be honest she doesn't know, or well, actually she probably does, as the answer lies with what happened to her a couple days ago.

"Might be because I became a Truth Seeker.."

"You became a what?!" The others collectively yelled in surprise, while Edward and Satoya commented to each other that she did in fact become one.

"Oh wait, Satoya, that must explain why you and Edward radiate some faint aura, it must be a Truth Seeker's influx right?"

Edward smiles a little as he comes up with an interesting idea. "Can you compare me and Satoya's influx?" Satoya became startled by the sudden question, and before he asked why Edward would ask a question like that, Kohayuki answered in a pretty straight forward tone.

"Edward."

Satoya felt his confidence drop, despite him believing his confidence was horrible, it is now even worse. He hears Edward celebrate with pride, "How about this Satoya, I'll compare you and Kohayuki's influx."

Edward glares at the two, and for basically a minute of silence, his expression becomes rather gloomy. "How is.. Her influx worse than yours Satoya.."

"WHAT?!" Kohayuki yells in disbelief, she then looks up at Satoya and back at Edward. "I thought his influx was bad? I remember that Ludwig dude saying he had shit influx? How is mine worse!?"

"Satoya did use his Verity, even if for a moment when we were fighting that weird flesh dude a month ago, so maybe that made his influx a lot more noticeable."

Edward is obviously referring to Saeonius Roland, who is thankfully deceased, or at least taken care of according to Rin Satomura. The memories of Roland somewhat shook Satoya, but he had no choice but to accept what happened back then.

"How the hell does influx even work?"

"It's like mana.." Satoya says, however Kohayuki simply glares at him for the vague response and looks up at Edward.

"Influx refers to two things, it either refers to the energy that lets Truth Seeker's use their Verity, and also the 'aura' that radiates from the Truth Seeker, the influx Truth Seeker radiates is like a cold drink in a cup, and the water or condensation that appears around the cup is like the influx that 'condensates' from the Truth Seeker's body and radiates around them, but not all Truth Seeker's influx are like that, some are for some odd reason more potent, while some are quiet and controlled, but nonetheless both 'leaks' influx."

"But that proves Kohayuki is officially the weakest Truth Seeker of the group!" Rayna laughs out loud as it turns out she was listening to their conversation.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Kohayuki demands as she points at the flower markings on her arm.

"What if, like, what if! These flowers are like a countdown, and when they, like I don't know, reach a certain point, I become stronger than all of you!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're just coping with the fact you are somehow a weaker Truth Seeker than Satoya!"

"You.." Kohayuki glares with anger.

Before the bickering continues, the train has an announcement to make.

We will be arriving soon at… Matsuda.
