Chapter 63 - A Warm Sensation of Validation

The date was, what? Roughly April 2nd year, 8039, inside a Cervantes elementary school classroom. Inside that classroom, was a 9 years old child, looking outside, bored out of his mind. A lot of the teachers at the school acknowledged the child for his stunning emerald eyes, as well as his amazing intellect. However, all of that was a shadow, within that child's mind was simply, a bored genius, living a life where nothing grants him the pleasure of truly feeling something, whether it'd be love, pride, anger, envy, sorrow, nor happiness. Every single thought didn't move the child one bit. Perhaps he was simply too young? Perhaps he never got to understand such feelings.

"Wow, look at you Roland! You're such a smart boy! You got the highest scores again!" The teacher congratulated, passing a test paper back to him. The test paper had all sorts of writing on it, although it was basic math. .Huh, I find it weird though, but considering that was how the Scribe wrote him, I shouldn't argue, anyways.

Despite the teacher's applause, Roland didn't feel anything. Even as the day progressed, nothing necessarily changed. No matter how many of his fellow classmates applauded, laughed, or, well, shared genuinely happy friendships with him, Roland never once had the need to show any ounce of emotion. Of course he indulged in some of it, however there was no genuine feeling.

However on this particular day, April 2nd, there was a crime scene, in the middle of the street in front of Roland's home. If we were to discuss Roland's family as a whole, they were quite upper middle class, living in a suburban neighborhood in Cervantes. However, Cervantes during this time period was going through a sort of psychological turmoil in the older generation, or the generation whose parents are Roland's. Why may you ask? Due to The 7th Disaster happening nearby, with the 7th Disaster also being known as "The Rebellion Against The Greatest King." (as well as "Fall of Nebulaia"). In short, the 7th Disaster was a condensed disaster, compared to well, the catastrophic apocalyptic global war between one man who founded an Empire greater than Cervancidel in the last Disaster (which the spanned over 1st and 4th Capital entirely), but the 7th Disaster place in well, namesake, Nebulaia, however, the older version, known as the Celestial Nebulaian Empire. Of course not as powerful as the Oshiman Empire and Cervancidel, but still, an empire nonetheless. People were suffering what was called at the time, "Post Disaster Turmoil" which is a psychological condition where survivors of a Disaster goes through some sort of trauma, due the number one thing every human being has innate. Fear. But enough of that little side note.. Wait, no I got sidetracked, I am not an author like the Scribe, yet I feel some of you may enjoy the chapters I write, because I am simply better— Okay, yeah no, probably cuz I can tell alot of you are fed of up these sort of long ass narration when you just want the author to get to the hype moments and romance (relatable).

Enough of that, the crime scene in front of Roland's home, was a simple murder scene. Not an altercation between Regulator and Regulator, but instead, homicide. A man who Roland thought to be no older than what? 40? Was stabbed several times in the chest by a sharp knife that was abandoned beside the deceased.

There was no one supervising the scene, except for the young woman who was the neighbor of Roland's family at the time, who ran away to call the local police (well, you can call Regulators to the scene, but what is the point?). Which left, well again, no one supervising the scene. So what did this bored 9 years old child do?

He grabbed the knife, gently as if it was a sacred relic. He touched the blood on the knife with his small index finger, and smelt it. It didn't really smell well (of course its blood after all, are we serious?), and neither did the blood taste good (why did the Scribe write Roland's childhood as him tasting blood from a dead person? I don't know, ask her when you have the time).

Upon inspecting the knife more, he began to grow curious. He used the knife to poke away at the deceased man, however due to him underestimating how sharp the knife is, he unintentionally caused the man to bleed in some parts of his body. He later cut into the man, then it spiraled from there. However, this was one of the first times in Roland's life.

Where he felt fascinated. A Fascination engraved in bloodshed, and Roland wanted more of that feeling, yet he wasn't really intending on continuing the bloody path, if I were to look back at the others drafts of the novel, instead Roland at this point, started to chase that feeling of curiosity.

Well, in the past drafts, this was EVEN more detailed, however, I personally am disgusted with this scene in particular, because well, it's not, in other words, appealing. Do not do this, the wise and knowing Kilasevra orders you not to, instead if you want to gain knowledge, then go be a surgeon, go study medical school (The Blessing Celestial wept upon reading this scene for the first time in the 4th draft of the novel).

After the 'surgery' performed by Roland on the deceased man who is now mutilated, he took a couple steps dripping blood from his hands back home, leaving a trail of blood behind. Then, Roland decided to bathe himself, to wash the blood and 'smelly' odor away. But what he didn't hear was outside the bathroom, his mother had just arrived home.

Yet, she arrived home in a panic, as she drove to the front yard, she immediately followed the bloody footsteps that lead to the bathroom, and like her neighbor, she called the police. Except. As she was calling, and hesitatingly informing the possible actions of her child, she smelled a corrosive, sour, and metallic stench coming from behind her. Then, a scream of fear and agonizing despair.

Roland finished bathing, putting on the typical clothes he'd wear at home. As he came out of the bathroom, still drying off his hair with a small towel.

Were the carpets that were always in the comfortable tan color, the warm orange lights, the familiar sand colored walls.. Were stained in red, that dripped down slowly, and slowly, and slowly. There were roughly 6 entities that resembled something otherworldly, taking on the form of warriors from lands and cultures from the world.

One was dressed up as one of the widely known oni-masked samurai of Okamura, one resembling the fiercely agile Hwarangs from Maehwa, and one who looked exactly similar to the now destroyed legionaries of Celestial Nebulaia. The other 3 were from places Roland couldn't recognize. They all had something in common, which was that, their outfits were permanently covered in a deluge of dark crimson liquid that dripped onto the floor like rain, their faces were of a faceless humanoid, except for the odd glowing red dot in the center of what would be their eyes. If you are wondering what they are, then I fear I cannot tell you that immediately, because of what I discussed with Rin last chapter, info dumps.

Back to the point, in the middle of the 6 entities, was the dining table, where Roland saw a.. Thing, exactly resembling his mother. Except, the only thing differentiating the Thing and his mother, was that, this Thing that was taking on her mother's form, had eyes that were heterochromatic. Dark purple, and a sinister red.

The Thing appeared to be in a state of euphoria, an uncontrollable happiness, as if whatever is happening around it, was nothing more than background, or instead. Maybe it was feeling that sensation of pleasure because of this scene of sorts. At the corner of Roland's sight, was the corpse of his actual mother, however, Roland didn't back away, he was more or less, confused. What caused these things to slay his actual mother? What caused the dark purple and red eyed Thing to resemble her mother? Why?

Roland felt many questions flood his brain, until he saw the Thing stand up from ITS chair, and slowly walked up to him. She crouched down to his level, then clutched onto his shoulders, his stunning emerald eyes meeting the Thing's abnormal eyes.

"Please, Saeonius Roland.. Show me more, I love what you had just done to that person outside. Please Roland, I love what you have done." The Thing said, in a low, almost unnaturally soothing voice that caused Roland to feel a shiver down his spine.

But he also felt something snap? This was the first time Roland felt validated, and that caused him to yearn for that same validation from whatever that Thing is.

It appears I wrote too much for this chapter, which means Chapter 65 will be when Chapters that are written by the Scribe come back. But I want you to know, I am doing her a favor. As much as Rin is for her, but his role is, more or less involving himself more in the novel than I am myself I believe, internally, at least. This sidestory will finish the next chapter (I guess it isn't a sidestory but a backstory that was just thrown out random, but whatever).
