Chapter 48 - Carl's Stand

Arthur's mind filled with anger and pity. His anger was directed towards the Imperial family, who destroyed several families, the families they swore to protect. His pity was towards those families who, because of the greediness of the Emperor, weren't even able to know their loved ones' conditions, and those who died without knowing that their loved one didn't even know their condition. Both sides were filled with sorrow and detachment.

Carl continued,

"Many... many soldiers, because of the previous Emperor's decision, killed themselves due to depression. Some who survived aren't even able to leave their home... When you told me about the girl, you asked me if I would keep this secret and help her. Arthur, I didn't agree to this solely because she is my niece... I want the current Emperor, who proposed that inhumane decision, to experience the same thing as he did to those families, my family. When you told me that he killed Bella and her husband, Archduke Sir Rayvine, the man who put an end to that nightmare of a war, it only fueled my anger towards the Imperial family more. (with an expression of rage surfaced with calmness) I decided to end the nightmare of all, the Imperial family. I am betting everything on Bella's kid. I will turn her into a master mage. And train her to perfection in her dark magic. I know this is a huge gamble, but I am confident it will pay off. After all, it is Bella's and Sir Rayvine's kid we are talking about."

Arthur spoke,

"Carl, I'll leave the dark magic to you. But for fire magic, I will train her personally. I also want those demons wearing human faces to suffer the same things they did to Isa, (with uncontrollable rage) that monster of an Emperor!"

Suddenly, they both heard a table jerk. They both looked at each other and moved swiftly. But when they came outside, they saw no one. Arthur spoke up, "I think we should call it a day, Carl. We should go ahead and rest." Carl agreed to that. They both left towards their rooms.

There was a small sob, so quiet that one could mistake it for wind. It was Alicia. Alicia waited for them to disappear and quietly ran towards her room.

Falling on her bed, she thought,

"So Mage Carl is my maternal uncle... This is all so sudden to take in... First of all, I didn't even question about grandma's family, but now this? I wonder if mom knew... I doubt that grandpa knows about this... Can I somehow reunite them? Will it be okay if I try that in the midst of all this? No, I can't think like this... As mom always said, family comes first! I will do my best to somehow reunite them. And then continue with their help for my revenge. Yes, let's do it like this."
