Chapter 2 : Livestock

Tim rubbed his temples hard, the morning sun hotter than usual, oh wait he isn't home anymore.

He looked at Alice with a confused expression, waiting for her to tell him that this is all a bad dream.

But she didn't, she just looked at him with an almost emotionless stare. Her tail swayed lazily behind her.

"Anyway, if you're done with your pity party, let me tell you what's going on here...." she says, bracing herself for a long explanation.

"So this is Tim Farms, it's one of the many farm lands in Summer Valley, your grandfather built this place with his own two hands."

"Making this place the number one place to buy produce, but when he died, it went to waste and disarray. " she pauses and leans forward, facing him.

"But now it's yours now, it's your responsibility to bring this place back to its former glory. Do you understand?" She asks.

Tim simply nodded slowly, too confused to give a verbal answer.

Alice just rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand, pulling him closer to her. She starts walking through the farm.

She gestures towards the various equipment, briefing him on their functions and purposes.

Tim listens to some of what Alice is saying, not paying attention to anything she's saying.

"Alright and here's the grand finale, your house. I hope you heard what i was saying, cause im not repeating myself, got it!!" She tells him.

Tim snaps back into reality, his mind clear now, he nods slowly as he looks at her. Alice rolls her eyes and sighs.

"Fine, whatever." She says, opening the door wide. Inside is a well kept and furnished house that seemed untouched by the world.

Tim was surprised to see this, "wow its like someone was living here.," he says, admiring the decor.

"Duh, that's because I was living here." She says proudly.

"Wait, if you lived here, why didn't you maintain this place?" He asks her.

Alice glares at him, her eyes turning a deep shade of red. "I WILL NEVER BE A FARM HAND!! UNDERSTOOD??!?!" She tells him.

Tim looks at her and decides not to ask any further questions. He steps back in fear.

Alice sighs as she waves her hand, an old book manifesting in the air. She holds it out to him.

"Here, here's the handbook to make sure you're prepared for this. Also take this, it's your capital, 500 hundred coins." She says.

"Isnt 500 a little. ... low?" He asks her.

"Just be happy it's not 50, so that's it from me, I'll be back when you've improved on your farm..... Oh and a word of warning, don't listen to the voice."

She tells him, not bothering to explain further. She disappears, leaving behind black smoke.

Tim looks around the house, still not believing what is happening to him. He looks at the book and the bag of money in hand, what is he gonna buy to start this journey.

He lays on the soft fur covered bed, he wonders if anyone has noticed him missing back home.

He falls asleep while thinking about this. The night wind blows against the house.

The morning sun beamed through the old windows, casting a faint ray of sunlight. Tim stirred in his sleep.

He got up the moment the first rays hit his face. He groaned as she flipped to his back, he squinted his eyes a little, trying to make out the object in front of him.

"Has that always been there??" He asks himself as a blue screen hovers above him.

It pulses and flickers dimly in the light. He sits upright as it slowly descends until it faces him.

Tim hesitated as he reached out to touch it. The moment his finger makes contact with it, it expands into multiple screens.

The screens display different information. The first is an attribute screen, showing his current level and more.

Str : 20

Speed : 20

Int : 20

Stamina : 20

Health : 120/120

Mana : 60/60

Title : Newcomer

Skills : Unavailable

"Okay. So this is basically like a videogame.....great." he says.

The other screens appear to be locked away under certain requirements except one, the missions screen.

Tim looks through the missions available, the Main mission is simply, revive the farm, but the other catches his eye.

Written in all Blue text reads, 'Buy LiveStock!', that's it. He scratches his head and gets up.

He decides to explore the town a bit, wanting to get familiar with his environment. "Alright, let's get going." He says.

A mini map appears before him, it guides him through the forest until he reaches Summer Valley Market.

"Oh, now that's interesting." He says as he moves through the crowd of mystical fantasy creatures.

He tries not to bump into anyone while maneuvering through the busy shopping district.

Lost, he decides to ask for directions to the farmers market. He approaches a hooded figure stacking purple bottles of God knows what.

"Umm excuse me, do you know where I could find the farmers market?" He asks.

The figure turns to look at him, it drops its hoodie revealing an insect creature beneath. Tim flinches slightly, taken aback by its appearance.

"#@#%#£%%£&£&??." The insect says, barely sounding audiable. Tim scratches his head, confused slightly.

"Great, everyone here speaks in a foreign language, just wonderful." He says to himself.

But a notification appears before him, LANGUAGE MASTERY UNLOCKED!!

The bug person soon starts speaking again, but this time, Tim can understand it now.

"Excuse sir, did you ask directions for the farmers market?" The bug person asks, her voice soft and female.

Tim looks up at her, "oh yeah, sorry." He says.

"No it's alright, I was just shocked that's all, we haven't had a farm in over 30 years mind you, the last farmer had moved on." She tells him.

"Now we mostly just buy our produce from neighbouring kingdoms, it's all a hassle really." She adds on, now looking quite upset, maybe, Tim couldn't tell.

"Anyway, the farmers market is just down this street. You're lucky actually, I heard she was about to close shop for the day so you better hurry." She says, her antenna twitching.

Tim thanks the lady and runs off, feeling more creeped out than greatful, but he doesnt let it bother him.

He's been through enough already.

Following the directions clearly, he finds himself standing in front of an alleyway. He stands there for a few seconds wondering what is actually going on with her.

"I think that lady lied to me, great." He says to himself.

As he is about to leave, a woman's voice calls out to him. "Hey you. Yes you, what do you want?" It asks, tone low and calm.

Tim turns back but finds no one there, he starts to panic a little. "I'm just looking for some farming stuff." He replies.

After a few seconds of silence, a hand grabs him and pulls him into the alley. But it changes to a busy, packed place.

Tim's eyes widen at the scale of how big it is, but then he notices a tall dark woman in front of him, her hand gripping his tightly.

Her beauty is covered by the hooded cloak she's wearing, her dark green eyes and pointy ears the main giveaway.

She lets go of his hand and bends down to face him. "Are you a customer? What do you want, little human?" She asks, her voice dominating.

Tim stummers over his own words from fear, not because of her, but what she could actually do to him.
