Cherreads

Chapter 307 - Scheme

"I said I agreed,"

"But only if you give me what I want."

Blaine was stunned for a moment before he realized that he had used his mind-reading ability to read Quill's thoughts in advance. He had forgotten to consider Quill's understanding of abilities, and feared that Quill might still doubt how Blaine could know what he was thinking without being told.

Quill was also very confused. How did he know everything when he hadn't said anything at all?

"Also, I'll take you to the president,"

"Let's discuss strategic cooperation."

After Quill finished speaking, he ran toward the stairs behind him, intending to return the same way he had come.

"Um, okay,"

"It's fine to see her."

In fact, Blaine wanted to say that there was no need to meet the president at all. If he wanted to act, he could resolve everything in less than a minute. However, the right of employment was in the hands of the people of Xandar so he would listen to their arrangements for now.

Then Blaine teleported to Quill's side, grabbed his clothes, and used teleportation again, directly rushing to the command hall where the female president was.

"Oh mai ga, oh mai ga, oh mai ga, oh mai…"

"Has Earth's level reached this point already?"

Blaine's sudden move caught Quill completely off guard. Uneducated and inexperienced, he could only express a series of shocked exclamations. His eyes were wide like eggs, his mouth hanging open wide enough to stuff a steamed bun inside…

Seeing Quill's expression, Blaine shook his head helplessly. The poor alien couldn't even say a complete sentence. Why had he never seen the world? Was this something ordinary people could witness casually? This was teleportation, for heaven's sake. Universe-level abilities weren't cabbages that could be found everywhere.

Looking at the female president to the side, Blaine could also sense her shock.

But besides shock, Blaine saw something else as well.

When the female president saw the two people suddenly appear, she was first startled, but soon after, she began to wonder whether someone with such strength would turn hostile after obtaining the Power Stone.

Just as Blaine had seen through mind reading, at this moment the female president was thinking about what Quill had mentioned after leaving earlier. Especially after witnessing Blaine's methods with her own eyes, her anxiety only deepened.

"Tell me, what's the task."

Although Blaine had already seen through her thoughts, since what he wanted was the Power Stone, he would take the task regardless of her reluctance or lack of trust. For the sake of the Power Stone, Blaine automatically ignored all of the female president's concerns.

"There is only one mission, and that is to defeat Ronan."

The female president was straightforward. She wanted to hire Blaine.

"I'll do it,"

"Quill also said that the price is the gem inside the metal ball."

To prevent them from exploiting any loopholes, Blaine stated the condition directly. The terms were the terms, the situation was the situation—everything was up to them. Blaine wouldn't feel any regret even if Kree Star were destroyed.

"Fine."

"Hmph. Then I also hope you'll keep your promise,"

"Otherwise, Ronan will be your fate."

Under his mind-reading ability, Blaine clearly sensed that the female president was actually planning to go back on her word—having Blaine deal with Ronan first, then finding an excuse to withhold the Power Stone.

She truly lived up to her position as president. Her courage was not small. But Blaine wasn't worried. As long as they broke their promise, the system's restrictions would become invalid, and forcibly taking the Stone would be no problem at all.

Blaine snorted coldly, and his body instantly teleported to the battlefield.

At this moment, Xandar's fleet had been defeated one after another, with only a few ships still fighting desperately. If not for Yondu's space pirates, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora sharing part of the pressure, Xandar would likely have already become Kree's territory.

The moment Blaine appeared, he saw Ronan calmly stepping off a small warship.

Even the enemy's leader had already reached the ground. This Xandar was truly weak enough.

Ronan raised the massive hammer in his hand high, as if showing off that he had finally set foot on Kree Star.

"Cough, cough,"

"It's still the same line. If you leave now, I don't have to kill you."

Just as Ronan was feeling overexcited, a voice suddenly sounded in his head, like a haunting whisper. He was all too familiar with that voice—especially the faint tone from the moment he had almost been burned to death.

It was just that Ronan couldn't believe that person was here…

"You're not hallucinating. I'm serious."

Seeing Ronan think he was imagining things, Blaine found it amusing.

Moreover, the female president of Xandar had only asked for Ronan to be driven away. She had not explicitly said he must be killed. Blaine took advantage of this loophole and did not kill Ronan the moment he appeared. This could be considered the price for the female president's suspicion and scheme toward him.

Hearing Blaine's voice again, Ronan suddenly turned to the side.

Just as Blaine had said, the man in the black robe was watching him from a distance.

"Kill him!!!"

After confirming again and again that it was indeed that person, Ronan's heart turned ice-cold. The fear rose instinctively from deep within his bones. He couldn't pretend it wasn't there, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't suppress it.

Fortunately, Ronan's army currently held an overwhelming advantage. With such a massive force and battleship formation, surely this man couldn't prevail alone. He waved his hand and shouted, ordering his subordinates to attack the man in the black robe.

"You really are the type who remembers pain but never learns."

"Since you won't take the easy way, I'll let you taste the hard way today."

Blaine muttered to himself. He had just read Ronan's thoughts and couldn't help wondering where Ronan had gotten his confidence.

The difference in strength between them was enormous, something that couldn't be made up for by his 2.8 million minions. No matter how many ants there were, it wouldn't matter. Ants killing an elephant was pure nonsense. As long as the elephant so much as moved slightly, the ants would feel the earth shake.

Watching the Kree soldiers rush toward him, Blaine continued to walk toward Ronan without any change in expression. However, the killing intent in his eyes grew increasingly solid.

Although surrounded by countless enemies, Blaine didn't take them seriously at all. He still showed no sign of making a move, as if he weren't the one standing in the middle of the enemy formation.

This sight delighted Ronan. In his heart, he thought that although this person was powerful, his brain clearly wasn't very sharp. Even if each of his men fired only one shot, that would still be tens of thousands of shells—more than enough to blast him into nothing. No, not even fragments would remain.
