"Finish him." Khaos's command rang through the courtyard.
Adina stared at Thorne, who struggled to push himself off the ground. Blood covered his face, and his chest rose and fell with labored breaths.
Her mate was injured, surrounded by enemies, and at the mercy of the monster who had destroyed his life once before.
And Khaos wanted her to be the one to end him.
"Well?" Khaos demanded. "What are you waiting for?"
Adina slowly approached Thorne.
Every step felt like a knife twisting in her chest. She had spent days pretending to be someone she wasn't, enduring Khaos's presence and playing the part of his obedient daughter. She had swallowed her anger, hidden her powers, and watched innocent people suffer because she needed the opportunity to stop him.
But she would not kill Thorne. She would never kill him.
Thorne lifted his head as she approached. His eyes met hers, and despite the blood covering his face, she could still see the fury burning within them.
