Chapter 216 - It looks like I didn't need to intervene after all

Roy knew that Katerea possessed a terrifying technique. In the anime, that move was so powerful that even Azazel, using his Balance Breaker, had to sacrifice an arm to kill her.

Roy had avoided using the power of Envy for a long time specifically to guard against this trump card. Using the sealing power too early would have only made Katerea cautious; Roy had no intention of losing any limbs today.

As the sealing power of Envy surged, the strange glowing lines on Katerea's body seemed to glitch, suddenly stagnating.

The violent, suicidal aura she was emitting was instantly suppressed.

"How... how is this possible?" Sensing the interruption in her technique, Katerea's desperate eyes filled with horror. "It's you!" she shrieked, staring fixedly at Roy.

"Are those really the only last words you have?" Roy's body vibrated with power, and a surge of demonic power shattered the tentacles binding him.

Free from her restraint, Roy lunged forward, closing the distance between them in the blink of an eye.

Katerea panicked, trying to cast a defensive spell, but the barrier she summoned in her haste was too fragile. With the combined blessings of Rage and Aeriel, Roy's strength was at its peak.

The shining Ascalon cut through the night sky. It sliced through the defensive magic circles as if they were paper, rendering them useless, before landing relentlessly on Katerea's neck. Even with the power of Ophis backing her, a direct hit at this range was fatal. Ascalon, imbued with holy and dragon-slaying attributes, began destroying her vitality the moment the blade bit into her flesh.

The look of horror on Katerea's face froze as her eyes lost focus. Although she was a descendant of the Maou Leviathan, she lacked the high speed regeneration needed to survive decapitation.

Ascalon's properties ensured that her life force suffered irreversible damage.

Within seconds, her presence vanished completely. Her body, no longer supported by demonic power, fell limply from the sky. Her head was separated during the fall.

"That kid... I didn't think he'd actually be able to disable her like that," Azazel remarked, a hint of surprise in his voice. While he knew Roy was capable, he hadn't expected him to stop a suicide move from a Maou class opponent so easily.

"It looks like I didn't need to intervene after all." Sirzechs's expression softened. The terrifying Power of Destruction he had gathered dissipated, and his aura returned to his usual approachable state.

With the death of Katerea Leviathan, the situation at Kuoh Academy began to collapse for the invaders.

The mages from the Old Satan Faction lost their will to fight and were quickly overwhelmed by the alliance forces. It wasn't long before the remaining enemies were killed or forced to flee in a complete rout.

Once the area was cleared, the groups began the arduous task of repairing the damage. The battle between thousands of mages and the coalition forces, topped off by a Maou duel, had left Kuoh Academy in ruins despite the barrier's protection. Traces of the war were everywhere.

Serafall and Michael continued to maintain and repair the barrier to ensure the supernatural battle didn't spill over into the human world.

While the Old Satan Faction had no qualms about ordinary people noticing, the three factions had to be far more careful with their after-care work.

Once the academy was restored to a functional state, the leaders gathered in the conference room again to discuss the future. Although they had already reached a tacit agreement to sign the peace treaty, the emergence of the Khaos Brigade changed everything.

The Khaos Brigade was no longer just an ordinary terrorist group. According to Azazel's intelligence, they possessed enough power to subvert the world order. It was a threat that would give any faction a headache.

Not only did they have the support of the Old Satan Faction, but they also boasted several Longinus users and even a few gods.

Any organization that gathered multiple Maou-class powerhouses was a major player, but the most frightening detail was their leader: the Infinite Dragon God, Ophis.

In any other context, Ophis was a force of nature that most preferred to treat as a mascot...something best left alone.

But if Ophis was actually taking a personal interest in leading an organization, the game was entirely different. If Ophis ever decided to step onto the battlefield in person, there would be very little anyone could do to stop the dragon.
