From the outset, Sebastian and Tony's intention was to investigate Jean and the Phoenix Force. They never considered directly subduing Jean or reclaiming the Phoenix Force. Such a thought was beyond their wildest dreams.
So after battling the Phoenix Force for a while and realizing he had no chance of defeating it head-on, Sebastian decisively abandoned the battle. He chose to guide the Phoenix Force and Jean back to Earth. Otherwise if Jean were to suffer a seizure and travel into outer space due to the Phoenix Force's interference, retrieving the Phoenix Force would be a difficult task.
Returning to Xavier's School, Reed and Tony immediately joined forces with Hank McCoy. The three began studying and analyzing the Phoenix Force. They sought to find a means of countering it or even an effective attack against it.

When Sebastian finished his meditation and had mostly recovered his strength, he went directly to Tony's research laboratory.
Tony was currently designing a new suit with the help of Reed and Hank McCoy.
Sebastian took a quick look and saw that weapons capable of countering the Phoenix Force had been incorporated into Tony's new suit. With just a single shot Tony could use nanotechnology to directly regenerate the suit. It was a very convenient technique.
Tony who was designing something on his electronic screen saw Sebastian and said. "Sebastian how are you doing?"
"I can fight the Phoenix Force for another three hundred rounds."
"That is good. Our design is almost finished and we can really start the plan to expel and capture the Phoenix Force."
After hearing Tony's words, Sebastian came to Tony and the other three. He looked at the design drawings on the electronic screen and asked. "Are you sure your design can be used?"
As soon as Sebastian finished speaking, before Tony could answer, Reed immediately replied. "In fact this form of armor is designed to fight against the Phoenix Force. Our real killer move is actually the improved dark matter energy cannon of this new armor.
We studied the samples of the Phoenix Force and analyzed the data collected in the previous battle. In the end we came to a conclusion that the nature of the Phoenix Force is a very extreme material energy.
In other words in magical terms it can be understood as a very extreme version of white magic. It is precisely because of this extreme nature that the Phoenix Force is extremely repulsive to other matter easily destroying it.
Of course this explanation is not entirely accurate and has its fair share of problems but it is the general idea and it should make it easier to grasp our point.
So after researching and conducting tests we successfully pinpointed the frequency of the Phoenix Force and through that the opposing dark matter energy. We have designed an improved dark matter energy beam cannon.
If struck by this dark matter energy beam cannon even the Phoenix Force would suffer greatly and there is no way it would remain unscathed."
Although Reed's words hinted at his own intelligence, Sebastian graciously brushed it off.
"What about Jean? As the host of the Phoenix Force would this dark matter energy harm her?"
Reed Tony and Hank McCoy exchanged glances. Tony and Reed remained silent. The question was a touchy one and neither of them felt comfortable answering Sebastian's question.
Hank looked at Sebastian and nodded. "As long as we do not completely destroy the Phoenix Force then even if there is only a small part of the Phoenix Force left, Jean as the important host of the Phoenix Force will be regenerated from the Phoenix Force.

So when Sebastian arrived in Genosha, he found a peaceful and tranquil mutant town where the people lived peacefully. Each person was beaming with satisfaction.
When Sebastian found Eric, he was quite surprised.
Eric did not live in a town built by the United States government. Rather he lived in a simple metal house in a clearing in the mountains outside town. There was not even a single electric light only basic oil lamps and flashlights. When Sebastian arrived Eric was wielding farm tools planting something.
Sebastian looked at Eric and pointed his finger. The ground around Eric immediately began to roll and the seedlings Eric had prepared to plant fell into the ground one by one. They planted themselves.
Eric stood up and looked at Sebastian somewhat surprised by his presence.
"Your ability is truly remarkable. It is a shame I cannot learn magic otherwise I would not have to spend so much time on farm work."
Arriving before Eric, Sebastian saw the former mutant leader now resembling an ordinary middle-aged farmer. He was not surprised for he knew very well that for Eric, this kind of life was what he truly desired.
