Chapter 166 - Chapter 166 – Yaldabaoth! The Supreme Creator of Flesh and Chaos Arrives!

The events that had unfolded inside SCP-3143 had already shaken the Foundation to its core.

What began as a simple containment scenario had spiraled into a confrontation that defied logic, narrative, and reality itself.

Thanks to Detective Lu Murphy, a man who lived within a "low-level narrative," the Foundation had found itself wielding a weapon unlike any other. His ability to compress existence into a story, to enforce endings and outcomes, had proven invaluable. It was no exaggeration to say his powers would reshape how the Foundation contained and neutralized anomalies.

For once, there had been cause for celebration. The research teams had felt relief, even joy. A shelter project where everyone—scientists, guards, even the higher councils—was momentarily satisfied.

But James knew better than to expect his victories to last.

When he returned to Site-17, weary from days of near-constant vigilance, he anticipated recognition, perhaps even commendation. Instead, he was greeted by the cold stare of O5-10.

Waiting for him was not praise, but a new assignment.

---

A Personal Question

O5-10 leaned back in her chair, her shadow stretching long in the dim chamber. "I thought," she said slowly, "you would attempt to include Lu Murphy in your so-called rebirth plan."

James raised an eyebrow. "Unfortunately, his narrative power doesn't fit within it. At present, the Rebirth Project is restricted to humanoid anomalies, like SCP-105. He doesn't meet the requirements."

O5-10 studied him for a moment, her sharp eyes flickering. Then, in a tone far too personal for a commander of the O5 Council, she asked, "As far as I know, you have heritage from the Eastern lands, don't you?"

James didn't flinch. "To be precise, I am from there. That is my home."

The air in the room thickened. O5-10's gaze grew sharper still. "Then tell me, James—are you interested in returning?"

James frowned. This wasn't the direction he expected. Return home? Why? The chat audience watching the live broadcast mirrored his confusion.

"Could it be that something has happened back in James' homeland?" one viewer muttered.

Then O5-10 spoke again. Her voice was steady, but there was an edge of unease beneath it.

"Do you know anything about Yaldabaoth?"

---

The Name That Shook the World

James blinked. The name sent a chill down his spine. "Yaldabaoth? The Supreme Godhead?"

The chat erupted.

Another supreme deity?!

Over at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Natasha Romanoff leaned forward, frowning at the display. "Strange… I feel like that name is familiar."

Nick Fury frowned as well. "I've heard it before. Can't place where."

That's when Maria Hill pulled up old archives. She froze the feed at the SCP-3395 incident, where James had once mentioned it.

"Here. James said that the new era SCP-3396 might bring was linked to Grand Karcist Ion's victory over the Creator Yaldabaoth."

Nick Fury's one good eye widened. "The Creator? You're telling me that wasn't metaphorical? There's really another supreme deity?"

The idea was staggering.

But O5-10 did not soften the blow. Instead, she laid it all out:

"Yaldabaoth—also known as the Ancient God, the Devourer, the Supreme Creator of Flesh and Chaos. The blind and foolish god who descended from the heavens."

Her words froze the air.

"He comes from the lightless void beyond the multiverse. He feeds on gods and stars, vomiting life as waste. He exists across all dimensions, across all timelines, across all possible planes. His eternal rival is the Broken God, embodiment of machinery and order."

---

A Supreme Equal to the Crimson King

James' jaw tightened.

This was no ordinary threat. Yaldabaoth was on the same echelon as the Crimson King and the Broken God, two beings so powerful their mere concepts warped reality. This was another Supreme Divinity—an ultimate god whose very essence was terror.

The live chat erupted in disbelief.

"Yaldabaoth is at the same level as the Crimson King and that giant cosmic starfish?!"

"I thought the Crimson King was the peak. Now there's another?"

"This world is insane! If Yaldabaoth appears, everything's finished!"

In the Stark Tower, Tony Stark sat frozen. "Another Supreme God…" he muttered. His mind reeled. Each of these entities defied logic and technology. No machine, no suit, no Avengers team could withstand them.

Even the Ancient One at Kamar-Taj paled at the description. "The Supreme Creator of Flesh and Chaos…" she whispered. She felt its presence across layers of reality, a chilling brush against her soul.

And in the far reaches of the cosmos, Uatu the Watcher stiffened. "He feeds on gods and stars? He is omnipresent?" His voice trembled. Even with all his power, he dared not imagine facing such an entity.

"Does this ever end?" Uatu whispered, despair dripping from his words.

---

Imprisoned… For Now

O5-10 continued, her tone heavy.

"Yaldabaoth's violence and distortion stretch across the multiverse. Yet, for now, he is imprisoned within the Silver Net of MacKahn—the Sacred and Inviolable. The World Tree itself trembles at his existence."

The audience gasped.

Imprisoned?

A Supreme God equal to the Crimson King was actually sealed away?

The idea itself was mind-bending. If Yaldabaoth's concept was enough to unravel sanity, what kind of force could possibly bind him?

The Ancient One's fear twisted into stunned silence. "If something could imprison him… then that power must be beyond comprehension."

---

The Angels of Yaldabaoth

James, still tense, asked the question that had been clawing at him. "So what has my homeland discovered?"

O5-10's face darkened. "The Six Angels of Yaldabaoth. His sons."

The audience froze.

O5-10 named them one by one:

"Ignis. Deluge. Glutton. Tyrant. Beast. Chaos."

"Each is an extension of their father's will, divine agents who carry out his mission."

James' heart sank. Six angels. Six fragments of a god's nightmare.

And then came the revelation:

"They've been detected by the branch stationed in your homeland."

The live feed exploded.

"WHAT?! Six angels of Yaldabaoth showed up there?!"

"No way! The Foundation branch is doomed!"

"If each is divinity-level, how can they fight that?!"

---

No Room to Breathe

Back at S.H.I.E.L.D., Fury rubbed his forehead. "Descendants of the Crimson King were already nearly unstoppable. If these angels are truly divine-level…" He trailed off, grim realization setting in.

Natasha slammed her fist on the table. "Damn it! Don't we get a single moment to breathe?!"

Fury only shook his head. "Lu Murphy's power won't help here. He can bend stories to reality, yes. But a detective novel doesn't have room for gods. He needs endings that fit the genre."

---

The Foundation's Oldest Secret

O5-10 wasn't finished.

"The branch in your homeland is stronger than most realize. In fact, the Abnormality Society there was once the predecessor of the Foundation itself. They have dealt with anomalies for thousands of years, long before the Foundation was born. Many of their legends—Ignis, Deluge, Glutton, Tyrant, Beast, and Chaos—were integrated into their mythology as gods and monsters. In truth, they were accounts of the Six Angels."

James felt the weight of history pressing down on him. "So my mission is…?"

"You are to serve as the O5 Council's representative," O5-10 said firmly. "You will aid in their containment."

James nodded without hesitation. This was no ordinary assignment. It was a death sentence in disguise. But he would go.

---

The File

The screen before him flickered and revealed a new file.

[Project Name: Chaos Abyss]

[Item No.: SCP-CN-492]

[Object Class: Euclid (tentative)]

The audience exhaled in relief.

"Euclid? Thank god it's not Keter!" someone muttered.

But then they noticed the word "tentative."

It meant the research was new, incomplete, uncertain.

And the final note only deepened the dread:

[Special Containment Procedures: Due to its massive geographical scope and the unclear anomalous mechanisms of SCP-CN-492, no effective containment measures exist at present.]

The room went silent.

The silence said it all—Euclid or not, Chaos Abyss was already beyond the Foundation's grasp.
