Alexander Parker thought she was stupid, and malicious: "You know perfectly well that my cousin doesn't like me, yet you want me to pursue her?"

Alexander Parker suddenly smiled, but within that smile was rare bitterness and sadness.
He had long known that Isabella didn't like him. He was also aware that his pursuit would never be successful, yet he refused to face reality.
