After a while, she called out softly, "Little uncle?"
She was running a fever, so her voice was a little hoarse and soft, and if you listened carefully, there was even a hint of cautiousness in it.
Louis Cox's heart suddenly went soft. He asked gently, "How do you feel? Are you hungry? Or do you want a little water first?"
"Where is this?" Maeve Myres stared blankly, foolishly, and asked again.
"The hospital." Louis Cox said with a smile, "You didn't even notice you were running a fever? You fainted after class, and your homeroom teacher brought you to the hospital. Do you feel any better now?"
He kept asking, but Maeve Myres seemed not to hear him.
She kept her eyes wide open, letting her gaze sweep around the room once, and in the end, it settled fixedly on the television screen.
Louis Cox had forgotten to turn off the TV.
