Matthew Saxon maintained a stiff expression as he stared at her for a while, gritted his teeth, and fiercely said, "Can you keep your word?"
Scarlett Yates nodded, "I can. If you can do it, I can too."
"Alright, I promise you." Matthew Saxon looked as if he had made a great sacrifice, with a determined expression.
No matter what, the priority was to trick her into coming back first.
His willingness to nod and agree meant he counted on Scarlett Yates being all talk and softness at heart; it was unlikely she'd truly let him do such a thing.
That became apparent when, just as he mentioned wanting ice water, she immediately frowned.
