"How do you feel?" Drehk asked the moment Rymora settled into the carriage with him beside her. His tone was deceptively calm, as though he hadn't already sensed her tension. He did not forget—nor did she—that he was already aware she was carrying his child.
Instead of answering, she glared at him in silence.
The reaction only made him lean closer, brushing a kiss against her cheek. She turned her face away, but that only resulted in his lips finding the back of her neck instead. The warmth of his breath sent an unwanted shiver down her spine.
The kisses lingered, slow and deliberate, until she finally spoke.
"You actually want me to have your child?" she asked, half hoping for an answer and half hoping he would stop.
