After years of travel and research, she had never encountered anything like it. If anything, it felt like something that should have been a character's exclusive starting weapon. She shook her head. "I do not know it. If you do not either, where did you get it?"
"Do you remember that recent Abyss Church incident that caused such a stir? I got it there." "I think a God gave it to me. That God might even be the reason I transmigrated. Did you ever see such a being in the story?"
That made things even more confusing. In the novel, the only God were basically the three aspects of the God of Light. By the time the Chosen Hero arrived, most of them were already dead, and later they nearly vanished entirely. The one with the most presence, Dawn, was just a background character who had died long ago.
Alba's last bit of hope faded. If it was not the God of Light, then what was it? Something completely outside the story, perhaps. That would explain why the original World had been turned upside down.
"I heard a Witch named Lily say this thing is called the Sun. For me, it is best used for lighting and hitting people. Does that ring any bells?" She asked carefully.
Fei'er Li frowned. "Do you mean Lilith? The one also called Lilith the Crystal Witch, who flies around and has crystal-like hair and eyes that glow?" "How do you know? You have seen her too?"
"I have. Originally, Lilith was the Mage of the Hero Party, but she died long ago. Where did you meet her?" "She appeared right in front of me not long ago and said she was a god's favored."
"A god's favored. That does explain some things."
The idea that Lilith was favored by a god was not that shocking after thinking it over. Someone that strong having backing made sense. It also made Fei'er Li suspect that the unknown God behind Lilith might also be the reason Alba had been chosen.
Alba did not say everything she was thinking, such as the possibility that the same being might be watching her as well. Instead, Fei'er Li shifted the topic.
"By the way, about me. You can see this Book in my hand, right?" She tapped her Pure White Book, and Alba nodded.
"My Book has been with me since I transmigrated. Almost only I can see it and use it. You are different. You can see it too." "And for some reason, it reacts to members of the Hero Party. I suspect it is tied to a God inside the Book, maybe a contingency left by something like the God of Light."
"I see." So you also have a Book.
Alba placed her own Book on the table. With the two books side by side, it became clear that if the gold patterns and the circular Sun were removed, their size and pure White Tier covers were almost identical.
Alba listened to the story while secretly glancing at Fei'er Li's Pure White Book. Aside from that strange feeling at the beginning, she kept thinking that before her own Pure White Book had that Sun style paid decoration added, the two things looked almost the same. Both were pure White Tier, and both had parts others could not see, except hers hid the contents while the other one made even the Book itself invisible. They were not identical, but it really felt like they came from the same maker.
As she listened to this fellow traveler's experiences, Alba's expression slowly grew strange. It was not that the events were not shocking, since landing straight into an icy wasteland and facing a Evil God descending was clearly terrifying. But compared with her own past, it somehow did not feel unfamiliar at all, and even carried a strange sense of recognition. Both of them landed right into a Evil God invasion, both had a Pure White Book, though hers used to be black.
Looking only at their experiences, the two were almost identical. Each arrived with a Book, immediately faced the threat of a Evil God descending, and then had everything resolved by some unknown Black Entity. Was there a connection between them? There had to be, because when she touched her own mark and it lit up, she had already been sure of it, and Fei'er Li had noticed the same thing by the end of their talk.
The two of them fell silent for a while, unable to figure out the reason. They had both thought about the cause of transmigration, but there was not even the slightest clue. Even the idea of crossing into another World felt impossible to explain. Phil had once studied Spatial Magic, yet even that had no theory about directly crossing between two completely different World.
Still, Alba's arrival made one possibility feel almost certain. Their transmigration might have been arranged by some God. If it were a true Orthodox God, such power might actually make sense. Before this, they had already considered all aspects of the God of Light's Three-Aspect Deity.
The biggest possibility had once been Dawn. Twilight and Daylight were barely considered, since the original Book clearly stated that those two had already fallen into the hands of some old bastard long ago. Even Dawn herself did not seem likely, since she was already dead before the story even began.
Now, however, there was a new option. "This is some information about the Divine Descent Event that became famous across the entire The Continent. Entities with appearances resembling Dragon appeared in multiple locations and caused disasters far beyond imagination, almost completely destroying Demonkind."
Fei'er Li pulled out a thick stack of documents and photographs from her Pure White Book. They were extremely rare records of the scene, showing a Black Dragon Shadow mercilessly spewing fire and ice downward, wiping out everything in sight. "The shadow of the God you saw, was it…"
"Yes. I would never mistake it."
She recognized it at a glance. That appearance was exactly the pitch-black god she had only ever seen during those special moments. After learning a bit about the territories and races of Demonkind, Alba felt even more uneasy.
If her guess was right, then not only Demonkind but even those dozens of Abyss Cult were probably that being's handiwork. Why would someone like that set their sights on her? After hearing this, Fei'er Li nodded, feeling much the same. Wiping out all Demonkind in the Demon Realm and so many members of the Abyss Church was not just about surface-level extinction, but about the stance of the Evil God behind it.
They would never willingly give up their means to interfere with reality, even with the gap between World and Abyss. That meant this God could withstand interference from more than one Evil God, and still had spare capacity to continue placing bets on Alba. Perhaps even the disappearance of several members of the Four Heavenly Kings had something to do with this being.
Thinking of the present Alba, Fei'er Li suddenly recalled that perhaps Lilith had long been one of the moves pushed by this hand. The same might apply to Nefit, since that strange possession also showed the image of a pitch-black Dragon. And now there was Alba as well. All of them were members of the Hero Party, so could Luna also be involved?
Her gaze suddenly dropped to the Book in her own hands, and then to Alba's. Just as Alba had said, the only difference between these Book seemed to be whether they had decorative covers. In essence, they all likely came from the same god.
"Then is it possible that I am also just one of the pieces on the board?"
The more Fei'er Li thought about it, the stranger her expression became. She had run into Icelis the moment she arrived, and by accident had saved her using the power of the Book. Later there was Nefit and the others. If she had not gone together with Icelis that time, Nefit would have died early, even if all she really did was provide an account for someone else to use.
All of it looked like coincidence. But what if none of it was coincidence at all, and everything was intentional? Why did they always happen to be present whenever these major events were resolved? Even her meeting with Alba now, could that also be part of the arrangement?
As all her doubts linked together, Fei'er Li felt a wave of unease. But after thinking carefully, she realized there was no need to be that afraid. After all, everything that had been done so far seemed to be for good.
If the descent of the Evil God had not been stopped, and the plans of the Four Heavenly Kings had not been disrupted, the entire The Continent and even World would have moved step by step toward collapse. Everyone would have died in the end. If such a Fate could be avoided, then being treated as a chess piece did not really matter. Compared to the original disastrous outcome, the present was almost like paradise.
