"For what?" Gray quickly looked down at the table, pretending to check his food before wiping his eyes with the back of his hand.
"For today." Lily lowered her gaze toward her food. "I had fun, brother."
Her voice was a little as if she was embarrassed to say it after acting out for the whole day.
For some reason, those simple words hit Gray harder than he expected. He spent the entire day trying to make things up to her because he knew that for the past few days, or even weeks, he had been very busy.
But hearing Lily say that she had fun today made something inside him loosen. Maybe it was because he had been feeling guilty ever since yesterday.
He knew he had disappointed her, even though he had no choice but to return to work at that time.
"You're welcome, Lily." Gray smiled at her.
His eyes were still slightly watery, but he quickly blinked the tears away. Lily stared at him for a few seconds before giving him a small smile in return.
