Chapter 640: Luffy Is Up to No Good!
Just as the First Generation began moving, Ryuunosuke stepped out from the shadows as well.
"So that's how the Key of the Gods is used."
"That's… pretty unique."
He narrowed his eyes, watching the bracelet and the projected pointer fade into the distance.
"But seriously, for someone who's been alive that long, his memory is terrible. It's just one island."
After that small comment, Ryuunosuke turned and headed deeper inland.
At the same time, the other squads finally made contact with the God Death Guards.
Just as everyone expected, the moment a Death Guard saw them, it attacked without hesitation.
The sounds of battle quickly swallowed the whole island.

"Coming here with the captain was the right call!"

Ban's laughter was cut off mid breath as half his body got blasted away by a God Death Guard.
"Idiot!"
"Be careful. Don't actually die!"
"I'm still waiting for you to bring my sister back!"
King instantly released his Spirit Tree, blocking the Death Guard's follow up strike while shouting a warning.
Ban was always too playful.
In a situation like this, that kind of attitude was basically begging to become the enemy's breakthrough point.
"Lust, Bow of the Soul!"
Gowther, standing to the side, activated his Divine Weapon in an instant.
He pulled back, aimed at the Death Guard, and fired.
Smack!
The next moment, Gowther was sent flying like a broken doll.
"Huh?"
He sat up, stared at the Death Guard, then calmly reached down and picked up his severed arm.

Ryuunosuke had already pushed deep into the island, yet he still had not encountered a single God Death Guard.
Under normal circumstances, that made no sense.
These monsters were supposed to devour the offerings on this island.
How could they possibly allow him to walk in unchallenged?
Before long, a building appeared in Ryuunosuke's vision.
"Is this… an altar?"
He stepped inside.
The moment he entered, Ryuunosuke searched carefully, but found nothing unusual at first glance.
There were carvings and symbols on the stone, but he did not recognize the writing at all.

This altar was related to D.
But by his understanding, the D Clan should be the bloodline left behind by the Great Kingdom.
Even if there were special circumstances, they should not be special like this.
So why was there still something tied to the D Clan in a place like this?
"Big brother, this place feels so familiar!"
A voice suddenly reached his ears.
Ryuunosuke did not even turn at first. He answered as if it were obvious.
"Of course it does. You're part of the D Clan too, so it's normal you'd feel a connection…"

"…Luffy!"

"How did you get here?" Ryuunosuke asked again, tone tightening.
He could not tell whether he had been too focused, or whether Luffy had done something impossible again.
He had not sensed Luffy approaching at all.
"I just felt like something was here, so I came."
"Everyone's eating and nobody had time to pay attention to me."
"Hehe!"
Luffy grinned, wide and shameless.
Ryuunosuke rubbed his forehead.
A headache, right on schedule.
Wherever Luffy went, accidents followed.
"What did you sense?" Ryuunosuke forced himself to focus, steering the conversation back to the altar.
And another thought struck him.
The reason he had reached this place without being blocked might be because Luffy had been following him.
Did the D Clan really have that kind of authority here?
"No…"
Just as Ryuunosuke found himself actually expecting something, Luffy gave the most normal answer imaginable.
Ryuunosuke stared at him.
"As expected… what was I even hoping for?"
This was harder than asking a pig to climb a tree.
Luffy did not seek trouble.
Trouble simply sprinted toward him like it had spotted a discount sale.
"Big brother, these stone pillars can move!"
Luffy suddenly grabbed one and yanked it straight out of the ground.
The moment Ryuunosuke saw the pillar in Luffy's hands, he knew it.
Trouble was already sprinting.
Boom!
The ground began to shake.
Outside the altar, a three headed God Death Guard rose into view.
Roar!
Its roar split the air, and in the next instant, it attacked the two of them.
"Luffy, watch out!"
"These monsters are extremely strong!"
Ryuunosuke moved the moment the warning left his mouth.
Three heads.
Even if his clone joined him, the two of them could only stall two God Death Guards for a short time.
That left one Death Guard.
And that one would fall to Luffy.
"Got it, big brother!"
Luffy did not retreat.
Instead, he inflated, his Haki surging as he activated his strongest form.
"Gear Fourth!"
"Snakeman!"
He shot forward like a cannonball, charging directly at one of the Death Guards.
"Damn it, Luffy…"
Ryuunosuke started to move to support him.

A heavy blow crashed into him from the side as the Death Guard targeted the strongest presence first.
Ryuunosuke's footing slid.
For the moment, he had no time to spare.
Seriously, Luffy was a disaster magnet with legs.
"Move!"
Ryuunosuke raised his hand and slammed a terrifying attack into the monster in front of him.
The two Death Guards were powerful, but they were still no match for him.
Even without forcing a kill, knocking them back was easy.
He cut through them, drove them away, and prepared to move toward Luffy.
Then he saw it.
Luffy, in Snakeman, was already hammering his Death Guard so badly it could not even stabilize its stance.

Ryuunosuke paused for a fraction of a second.
"So you were worried for nothing."
But he did not have time to think deeper.
He turned back to the two Death Guards on his side and finished it.
Under Ryuunosuke's relentless assault, the two God Death Guards were killed quickly.
At the same time, Luffy crushed the remaining Death Guard in front of him.
You had to understand, even one of Ryuunosuke's squad leaders would struggle to kill a God Death Guard.
And Luffy had done it this fast.
Ryuunosuke had unleashed most of his strength to kill two.
Yet Luffy had ended his fight cleanly, almost like it was natural.
That result genuinely surprised him.
"Luffy, just now you…"
"Big brother, am I awesome?!"
Before Ryuunosuke could even ask, Luffy ran over, holding a purple crystal with a smug grin.
He practically shoved it into Ryuunosuke's face.
Ryuunosuke stared at the crystal, then at Luffy.
"…Sharp."
That was all he could say.
This looked like a suppression relationship.
And not a small one.
The D Clan's restraint over the God Death Guards was absurdly strong.
It was so far beyond Ryuunosuke's understanding that for the first time in a long while, he felt genuinely unsettled.
