Chapter 638: The Strange First Generation, Special Information!
Seeing Ryuunosuke's surprise, the First Generation looked genuinely puzzled.
"Back then, didn't you enter Lilith's illusion?"
"Or… are we missing some secrets of this world?"
His tone carried real doubt.
After all, Guardians and Evictors were different kinds of existences, but both groups understood the same core truth.
During the Lilith Illusion, they had witnessed power that did not belong to this world.
It could even be called power beyond this world.
Only after seeing that kind of force would anyone truly understand how small they were.
That was why so many people chose their side without hesitation, either Guardians or Evictors, with a single goal.
To seize that power.
That was also why Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, lamented on the final island of Laugh Tale that it would have been wonderful to live in the same era as Joy Boy, and declared the treasure a gigantic joke.
Because if he had lived in Joy Boy's era, the original Joy Boy, he would not have been forced into that choice.
But in Roger's era, he had no choice.
He could not reach that level on his own.
As for why the First Generation could reach such a level, that was still unknown.
In other words, on Laugh Tale back then, there was not only the Lilith Illusion.
There was also information about the First Generation.
But by the time Ryuunosuke arrived, those traces had already been erased.
It was obvious who did it.
Roger.
He chose to become a Guardian.
Naturally, anything left behind by the First Generation had to be wiped away.
The original Joy Boy had been able to stop both Lilith and Adam.
That alone proved how terrifying he was.
Roger did not want his plans disrupted by followers of the original.
What he never expected was that the one who would eventually disrupt everything would be an unknown nobody from the East Blue.
And just how old was Ryuunosuke?
"We never received that kind of information," Ryuunosuke admitted, expression awkward.
"The illusion I saw was nothing but Lilith and Adam fighting."
"I originally thought the Guardians and Evictors were irreconcilable enemies."
"Now it looks like that was pure misdirection."
The First Generation stared at him for a moment, then spoke in a strange tone, half complaint, half relief.
"I come here every ten years to clean up what's inside."
"Every time, it damages my body."
"But if you're here this time… we might finally destroy this place completely."
He extended a hand in invitation.
"Hey, Captain Ryuunosuke. Do you need my help?"
"Clean up?" Ryuunosuke repeated, brows tightening.
"What exactly is here?"
He had asked this the moment he first met the First Generation.
But the man had rambled, circled, and tossed out half answers until Ryuunosuke had no choice but to ask again.
"Where is God?" the First Generation asked instead.
"I remember you mentioning God before."
"Now that you carry my name, Joy Boy, you should be very familiar with God, right?"
His eyes narrowed, sarcasm mixed with probing intent.
He was testing him.
From the First Generation's perspective, Ryuunosuke should know something about this place.
And the way he moved, the way he spoke, the way he gathered people.
It all suggested hidden motives.
But this test went too far.
It was enough to make the First Generation question Ryuunosuke's true intentions.
In this world, he believed he could see through everyone.
Even Lilith and Adam.
He was confident he could understand their goals, their purposes, the reasons behind every action.
But the Dragon Hunter Pirates confused him.
The First Generation had even spent time investigating the information tied to each crew member.
The final result was absurd.
These people never existed.
Even their so called countries did not exist.
Of course, some members were easy to verify.
Nojiko, Kuina, Conrad.
Those identities could be checked.
That only deepened the First Generation's suspicion.
A question echoed across the seas.
Where did Ryuunosuke find so many powerful monsters?
And Ryuunosuke himself was barely in his early twenties.
Even if someone started training from the womb, they should not reach this level.
His life before setting sail was not a secret either.
A little investigation would uncover it.
Ryuunosuke had not used any special method to forcibly raise his strength.
So where did this power come from?
So many questions forced even the First Generation to stay cautious.
If he made one careless move, he could be dragged into an abyss.
He had risen from the sea too.
He would not underestimate a new powerhouse just because he disliked the smell of mystery.
"God?" Ryuunosuke echoed, then let out a half laugh.
"Don't tell me the Seed of God is right here."
It sounded like a joke, but his eyes stayed sharp.
His next mission was the Seed of God.
Once he obtained it, his mission would be complete.
Then he would gain power beyond this world and summon the Gate of Eternity perfectly.
And the promise he made to his crew would finally be fulfilled.
The First Generation's expression turned serious.
"As expected, you do know something…"
"The Seed of God isn't here."
"But this island is a place that provides energy to the Seed of God."
"We cannot allow the Seed of God to hatch in this world."
"If it hatches, the entire One Piece world will disappear."
Ryuunosuke's eyes narrowed instantly.
He did not argue.
He simply fell into thought.
"A land that supplies the Seed of God…"
"So the crystal energy inside those monsters is something close to a Heart of Eternity."
"And it exists to feed the Seed of God."
"Then where does all that energy come from?" he pressed.
"And those monsters, where did they come from?"
He had only come here hoping to find information about the Seed of God.
Instead, the island had dragged them into something far deeper.
This First Generation was… interesting.
And if Ryuunosuke's guess was right, the First Generation already knew Ryuunosuke's true origin.
He simply could not say it yet, for some reason.
"I get it," Ryuunosuke said, tone suddenly lighter.
"So how do we clean it up?"
"And First Generation… if you don't mind, tell me your name. It'll make things easier if we're going to cooperate."
"A name?" The First Generation scoffed.
"Just call me the First Generation. I'm used to it."
"Since you've decided to help, then we start now."
He raised a finger and listed them one by one.
"These creatures are made from the God Death Guard, the God Death, and the God Death Tree."
He paused, then frowned.
"The Death Tree… where are the trees?"
Only then did he realize the island had become bare.
All the strange trees were gone.
"Because of this," Ryuunosuke said, and immediately pulled out the Key of the Gods.
At the same time, he explained the special effect he had seen and how the Key had reacted.
Anything beyond what he understood, he could not describe.
"The Key of the Gods…" The First Generation's gaze locked onto it.
"It can withstand divine power perfectly."
"Something like this is…"
His voice trailed, like even he found it absurd.
Then his eyes sharpened again.
"But why is this in your hands, Captain Ryuunosuke?"
