Chapter 609 Ryuunosuke Arrives, Feitan's Battle!
The moment half of Momonosuke's body was swallowed, the Nen fish did not slow down.
If anything, it became even more violent.
It surged forward like a black tide, charging straight at the samurai behind him.
"Stay back!"
"Get away!"
"Damn it, what kind of monster is this?!"
The samurai panicked, swinging their swords in frantic arcs.
Steel flashed.
Blades struck flesh.
Yet every time one of the Nen fish was cut, it instantly split, doubling its number like a nightmare that refused to end.
In the blink of an eye, the swarm multiplied until it filled the street.
The samurai were overwhelmed almost immediately.
What made it worse was the way they died.
The Nen fish did not feel pain when they devoured someone.
But for the victim, being eaten alive, feeling your life drain away while your mind screamed to run, was far more horrifying than a clean execution.
Chrollo did not stop just because they were afraid.
A few minutes later, the entire group of samurai had been swallowed.
Momonosuke, however, remained standing in the same spot, strangely calm, as if he were thinking about something.
Chrollo's eyes narrowed.
"As expected."
"Another puppet."
"They can even copy Devil Fruit abilities and Haki. How interesting."
He lifted his hand casually.
The swarm surged up and swallowed Momonosuke whole.
"Mr. Chrollo," Koushirou asked as he stepped forward, confusion on his face, "when you said puppet… do you mean that nightmare?"
"The one who came here wasn't Kozuki Momonosuke," Chrollo replied.
"It was something that only looked like him."
"In other words, the real Kozuki Momonosuke is still alive."
Chrollo's tone remained calm, almost polite.
"Mr. Koushirou, if you need help, contact me."
Then he vanished from where he stood.
He had no interest in lingering while they talked.
Now it was almost certain that whatever that man had left behind was somewhere in Wano Country.
And it was tied to this so called Kozuki clan.
Afternoon arrived.
The Eternal Ship slid into Wano Country's port.
"Captain."
Pakunoda was already waiting.
Ryuunosuke stepped off the gangway without haste.
"What's the situation in Wano Country right now?"
The Third and Fourth Divisions were also moving in.
Once the Dragon Hunter Pirates regrouped here, they would continue toward the next Laugh Tale.
Pakunoda spoke quickly, reporting everything.
"The Shimotsuki clan has already gathered."
"Momonosuke's puppet already went to them."
"But the squad leader handled it."
"Orochi still hasn't received any news. He isn't moving openly for now."
"Shizuku and Feitan are fighting Magellan. It's probably connected to Orochi."
"Magellan?"
Ryuunosuke's eyes lit up with interest.
"This guy's here too?"
He smiled.
"Let's go see him. I've wanted to meet him for a while."
Magellan vanished after Impel Down sank.
As the former warden, he had to know secrets buried in that prison.
And inside Impel Down, there was someone Ryuunosuke was especially interested in.
That alone was enough reason to find Magellan first.
"They're fighting in an open area to the west," Pakunoda said. "It'll only take a few minutes."
"Are we going now, Captain?"
"We're going now."
After Ryuunosuke and his group disembarked, they moved out in a direct, unmistakable procession toward the battlefield.
A dozen minutes earlier.
"The Dragon Hunter Pirates?"
Magellan had just emerged from hiding when he ran straight into Shizuku and Feitan.
The moment they sensed each other's presence, the air turned sharp.
But Magellan recognized them immediately.
He knew who they were.
And he knew what they represented.
"My target isn't you," Magellan said, voice low and heavy. "I don't want to fight you."
Offending the Dragon Hunter Pirates was the fastest way to die on the high seas.
No major force dared to provoke them anymore.
Anyone who tried had already paid with their life.
Even the World Government itself had collapsed after targeting them.
"Warden Magellan," Feitan said, drawing his short sword. "Didn't expect to meet you here."
"Our mission is to eliminate any potential obstacles."
"And your existence has been acknowledged."
"So I can't let you walk away."
A violent killing intent poured out of Feitan, pressing down on Magellan like a blade.
Magellan's expression sank.
So it was inevitable.
Even if he wanted to run, he could not.
Speed had never been his strength.
"Poison Dragon!"
Magellan made his decision instantly.
He unleashed his Devil Fruit power and slammed his hand onto the ground.
With his ability awakened, the earth around them transformed into a poisonous swamp, spreading with an ugly, crawling malice.
"Shizuku, fall back," Feitan said, eyes cold. "This guy…"
He did not finish.
A poison dragon surged up and swallowed him in a single violent motion.
The toxin was terrifyingly invasive.
It flooded through Feitan's body almost at once, seeping into him with ruthless speed.
Even with Feitan's strength, he was poisoned by that strike.
His limbs went numb.
His breath turned heavy.
Shizuku raised her hand.
Her bulging eyed fish appeared and latched onto Feitan.
The toxins were quickly consumed, swallowed down as if they were nothing but water.
The poison swamp on the ground was also being devoured continuously.
Because Shizuku and the fish were linked, any toxin that tried to invade her body was eaten as well.
Feitan exhaled, his eyes narrowing.
"Thanks, Shizuku."
Then his smile returned.
Soft.
Too calm.
The kind of smile that meant someone was about to suffer.
"But this guy has completely enraged me."
"Star."
The air changed.
A scorching presence descended like a furnace door opening.
Shizuku immediately dismissed her bulging eyed fish and retreated fast, putting distance between herself and Feitan.
She knew that expression.
Feitan was furious beyond measure.
A massive star dropped into existence, blanketing the area in a crushing heat.
The temperature was so terrifying Magellan had nowhere to escape.
The poison swamp hissed and vanished, incinerated in an instant.
Feitan stared at Magellan through the burning air, arrogant and cold.
"You only have yourself to blame."
"You didn't hurt me enough, so you get to suffer longer inside this star."
"If you had caused me more pain, maybe you would have died a little faster."
When the star's heat finally began to settle, Feitan reached for his special equipment.
That suit of armor existed for a reason.
Without it, even Feitan would be burned by his own technique.
