Alex looked at the girl standing before him.
The silver hair. The ruby-red eyes. The face he knew so well.
And behind it all, a hatred he could barely comprehend.
For a moment, he said nothing. The weight of the other Lily's body rested in his arms, her head lying against his chest as though she were merely asleep.
Then he raised his eyes.
"While I don't know everything that happened to you in your world, I'm not here to count how many people you've killed."
Lily watched him without blinking.
"But I can't let you destroy this world, Lily. And I certainly won't stand here and watch you hurt yourself any further."
His voice softened.
"The more you chase revenge against people who weren't responsible for your suffering, the longer you'll keep suffering yourself."
Her expression did not change.
Alex lowered his gaze to the girl in his arms.
She had run an orphanage.
Even after everything she had endured, she had chosen to care for children who had no one.
