She was stunned that things had escalated so far. Annabelle had shouted at Adrian… and then ran away.
But in truth, it was understandable.
Everyone knew how desperately Annabelle wanted to rid herself of the curse of being Nytharos's apostle. It disgusted her more than anything. And while Adrian possessed a way to remove the mark of divinity from her, he hesitated because of the tangled nature of their relationship.
It was no secret that Adrian saw Annabelle more as a child than anything else. And it was not entirely his fault. In their previous life, things had been the same.
