Prologue: The God

Prologue: The God

The Awakening Ceremony had just concluded. The huge venue, complete with a matching barrier and a contraption in the middle that seemed to be losing steam after emitting a huge amount of energy, had initially held a very joyous atmosphere, filled with thousands of students excited about the talents they would awaken.

Now, only a few could be seen smiling or celebrating, most of them near the Energy Emitter used for the Ceremony. Kali, all the way at the very edge of the venue, was sporting a very sad look, even on the verge of crying, just like almost all of the kids around him.

The barrier surrounding the venue, which Kali suspected was there to keep the energy and the awakening kids contained, was partially opened, letting in a few white-robed adults. The adults escorted everyone out and brought them to a two-counter desk to register. One desk (the more lavish one, in Kali's opinion, given its golden color and how polished and shiny it was) was for those who had successfully awakened. The wooden desk, on the other hand, was for those who hadn't. Kali, being at the edge and closest to the opened barrier, was the first to register, and naturally, he went straight to the wooden desk.

The government really was going all out with its precautions toward the awakened. There was really no way for them to know whether a person had awakened or not. Everyone on Encantadia possessed the ability to absorb and contain Spiritual Energy, which was the basis for all talents; some people without talents could even control greater amounts of it than those with talents.

What the awakened had as an advantage, though, was that they were the only ones who could use Spiritual Energy in all sorts of ways, while normal people could only use it to strengthen their bodies and become more immune to diseases. So the government really could not ascertain whether a person was awakened just from the amount of Spiritual Energy they possessed.

The countermeasure the government had found for people who liked to hide the fact that they had awakened, however, was a temporary tattoo that lasted a year. Said tattoo was currently being applied to the back of Kali's hands. It functioned as a tracker, allowing the government to monitor all the kids who had just gone through the Awakening Ceremony. It was their way of making sure the kids wouldn't get any thoughts of going rogue and causing chaos with their newly awakened powers.

After all the formalities, Kali, still sad as hell, finally walked out of the Awakened Federation Building and took the bus to the edge of the city, where the slums were, to the abandoned house he had fought so hard with the local slum kids to get. He slumped onto the couch, if you could still call it that, given how destroyed it was. Finally in the comfort of his own home, Kali couldn't hold the smile in anymore. It turned into a cackle, and the cackle turned into an evil laugh.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's so hard mingling with mortals, knowing the God that I am!"

Here's the story of Kali: a born delusional, now a God? On his way to conquer the world!
