I was amazed, and a little nervous. This very much sounded like a cursed object, but at the same time, I was curious. I put my hand on the pile of gold and watched as a red liquid—exactly the same as when the ruby had melted and sunk into my skin—spread from my hand, covering the pile. When the red liquid pulled back, not a single piece of gold was left behind.
After that, I gained an awareness of the gold. I knew I could take it out from anywhere; I just had to pull on that feeling.
Then realization struck me. This was just an inventory skill. An inventory skill with a pretty cool backstory.
Wait… system?
"Oh, this is stupid," I thought to myself. Still, I waited. When nothing happened, I could only think, Great. I have a system that kidnapped me, threw me into who knows where, and now it's giving me the silent treatment.
"Is this because I called you a hallucination? I'm sorry, okay? Can you just tell me where I am?"
Nothing.
"Well, fuck you too."
I looked back down at the boxes. I didn't have anything better to do. I moved to another crate, this one much smaller than the others. When I opened it, I found a white dagger inside. Its handle was wrapped in leather strips, and strange symbols were carved down the side of the blade.
As I picked it up, I realized the white material could only be bone. The dagger was made from a long bone, and I could only pray it had come from an animal. But what caught my attention the most was the strange sense of familiarity I felt when holding it, as if I had held this bone dagger before.
No. I would certainly remember holding something this interesting.
