Chapter 29 - All Or Nothing

POV: Wrath

Staring at the boy, who seemed to be on the verge of death, I felt my passionate desire for fighting begin to fade away as the boy who I assumed had the potential to fulfill my dream was now lying on the ground with eyes that lacked any vitality.

I thought that maybe you would be the one to free me from this hellish world, but I suppose it was just another delusional fantasy that I clinged onto.

With a deep sigh, I used my Aspect to pull out the boy's sword from his scabbard as I grabbed it from the air with the intention of ending his life, but as I began approaching him, a light was born within his once empty eyes as the air itself began to prick my skin, arising a sense of uneasiness within me as I instinctively retreated away from the boy, who slowly picked himself up from the ground as the earth around us began crumbling apart from the sheer intensity of his Aspectual Force while his splendent lightning surged around his body, crackling fiercely.

Why did I suddenly back away-

As my instinctive retreat left me baffled, the boy appeared before me within a blink of an eye as he snatched his sword from my hand and slashed through my chest cleanly, leaving a deep, agonizing slash that stretched across my torso as it overlapped Arthur's slash in a perpendicular manner, urging me to wince in pain as I staggered backwards, bewildered at the boy's newfound power as I tried to assess my current situation calmly, despite my mind running amok.

I couldn't even perceive his movements!

I quickly spaced myself away from the boy as I began to amass gravity around my fist, but within a mere second, my body instinctually came to the realization that this boy was no longer the same one that I had faced earlier as lightning surged surged around his hand and with a graceful step, the boy appeared before me and smashed his lightning infused fist into my abdomen, stunning me for a split-second as his lightning laid waste upon my body.

His attack transferred the excess lightning onto my body?!

As I tried to gather my composure, the boy's eyes desired my demise as with a single slash, he tried to cut me down and in order to save myself, I repelled the boy away with a strong external force of gravity, sending him flying backwards until he landed onto the ground, but in the midst of his momentum, he manipulated the lightning crackling around his body into a visible bolt of lightning as he planted his back foot firmly into the earth and locked his eyes with my own.

What is with that precise control in manipulating his own element?!

"Asunder." The boy uttered as he hurled the deadly bolt of lightning towards me, unable to even react properly as it exploded onto my chest at an inconceivable speed, prompting me to let out a howl of pain from being electrocuted alive until the excess energy dispersed, forcing me onto a knee as blood trickled from the corners of my tightened lips while steam issued from the mild burns across the skin of my body.

"As of now, you don't stand a chance against me. If you're willing to give up now, I may have it in me to show you mercy." The boy proposed, but his proposal seemed to be more like a threat as his eyes were void of any hesitation, truly intending to kill me depending on my answer, which urged me to stand from the ground as I cracked my neck.

Those eyes aren't normal for a boy his age.

"I'll have to admit that your offer is quite interesting, but what if I were to decline?" I asked with an amused grin as the boy coated the blade of his sword with his own aura, which was infused with his own lightning.

"Then I'm afraid this is your end." The boy answered indifferently as he vanished from my sight and appeared before me with the intention of decapitating me, but through grace of luck, I was able to repel him away at the last second as his blade only nicked my neck, bringing forth an unsettling sensation as for the first time in years, I felt that my life was truly in danger as cold sweat began to bead across my forehead.

I knew that this boy was something special, but not on this kind of level.

Now that he's finally going all out, I'm struggling to even perceive his movements.

Then there's his strange lightning, which is more destructive than your standard lightning.

Out of all my years, I've never seen someone wield blue lightning before with the exception of a woman who tried to kill an entire noble family, which is strange as now the more I try to think about it, the harder it is for me to remember her.

Was it just a false memory?

Well, nonetheless…

This is the thrill that I've been waiting for!

As I positioned myself, the boy flickered towards me with several precise slashes aimed for my torso, although I was able to weave though each lethal slash with deft footwork as I stepped forward and tried to strike the boy's chin with an uppercut, but the boy's agility was too much me to handle as he slipped past my extended arm and slashed through the ride side of my torso with a nimble maneuver, urging me to groan in pain as I turned around to face the boy, who continued his approach without a second thought.

I can't let him close the gap between us!

Preventing the boy from advancing, I used an external force of gravity to repel the boy away from me as I attempted to create space between us in order to recuperate, but despite the strong force of repulsion, the boy demonstrated admirable resistance, barely moving an inch amidst his advancement as he planted his feet firmly into the ground before glaring directly into my eyes, arising a spine-chilling sensation within me from the boy's unwavering eyes.

"You think you've escaped?" The boy questioned with irritation laced in his tone as he launched a large slash of lightning with a mere swing of his sword, his attack tearing through the earth itself as if it was paper while it closed in on me fast, empowered with enough lethality to kill me as the boy's unparalleled potential aroused my curiosity even further.

This boy…

He can even use an advanced sword technique?!

I extended my palm towards the imminent threat approaching me and dispersed his attack with an external force of gravity, but as I nullified his attack, the boy had vanished from within my sight and appeared behind me with lightning surging around his hand as he tried to impale my torso, however, I was able to catch his wrist as the tips of his fingers seeped into my chest while the tendrils of his crazed lightning lashed across my skin.

At a standstill, neither of us would budge until I eventually tried to repel him away with an external force of gravity, but the boy defied my will once again as he resisted the blunt force of the repulsion, enduring persistently with blood trickling from the corners of his mouth along with his nose as through a scream of determination, he overpowered me in a contest of strength as he clenched his fist and landed a lightning infused one-inch punch into my chest, sending me sliding backwards across the ground as I braced myself for the inevitable pain that was to come, gritting my teeth with blood seeping through every crevice as the aftershock of his attack laid waste upon my body.

"That's the spirit!" I hollered exuberantly, enduring the aftershock of his attack as I immediately dashed towards the boy, ignoring the harrowing pain accumulating within my chest as my sudden approach alarmed the boy, provoking him to try and slash through my chest with his sword, but startling him was my unexpected agility as I weaved his blade and smashed my fist into his jaw with a sharp left hook, causing him to stumble sidewards as gravity began to amass around my fist.

As the boy was left in a daze, I tried to capitalize on my opportunity to finish him by striking his face, but the boy's reaction speed proved to be inhuman as he narrowingly slipped under my arm, allowing him to twist his body on the pivot of his foot as he landed a near-crippling spinning back heel kick into my chin, slamming my brain across the side of my skull as I lost consciousness for only a moment until I felt the cold steel of the boy's blade piece through my abdomen, causing me to spew out blood from puncturing one of my organs.

This is ridiculous.

This boy is no older than a highschooler and yet, he's already attained this level of strength.

As the boy tried to rip his sword free from my abdomen, I gripped the blade of his sword with one hand and tensed my abdomen muscles tightly, preventing him from removing his sword as I slammed the side of my fist into the blade of his sword, breaking it in the midst as I then repelled the boy away from me with an external force of gravity, using the little time I created to recuperate as fatigue dawned over me while the boy slid backwards with his eyes locked onto my existence.

Sparing not even a second, the boy sheathed his broken sword and flickered towards me, initiating an exchange of hand-to-hand combat as we were fairly even until the tendrils of his lightning snapped across my skin, stunning me relentlessly as the speed of my attacks gradually lessened along while his attacks sharpened to a terrifying degree, forcing me on the defensive as my forearms ached with numbness from his heavy fist thrashing into them.

Unbelievable.

This boy's aptitude for combat exceeds my own and his Aspect allows him to dominate anyone within close range.

Even if one were to space themselves away from him, his speed alone is enough for him to close the distance and the worst of it all is that he can even use ranged attacks.

As of now, there's no way for me to win this fight unless I'm able to use the spatial technique of my Aspect, which requires a considerable amount of energy and at least a few seconds to prepare, but if I'm interrupted or even fail, it would cost me my life.

The boy eventually broke through my guard and ended his onslaught with a spinning back kick into my chest, sending me skidding backwards through the forest as a triumphant grin crept onto my face.

Alright…

It's all or nothing!
