Chapter 71 - [Book 1] CHAPTER 17 - Bound Beyond Life and Death [3]

Catching sight of the person awakening, the Empress Dowager originally sitting beside thereupon asked: "What is the matter along with Ah Yuan? For what cause do you keep weeping continuously in such a manner?"

Causing her, no matter how many times she coaxed and wiped, it nevertheless remained wet.

Shang Yuan hastily wiped away the tears, in a lowered voice saying: "I just encountered a nightmare."

"A nightmare ah?" She listened through, momentarily a bit surprised, asking: "What kind of nightmare, narrate for Grandma to hear?"

"I saw…" That nightmare was identical to the past that had once occurred; every word RongCheng had spoken and even the night of joyfully drinking and dancing celebrating the victory, together exchanging betrothal jade pendants… all of a sudden manifested exceedingly clearly… remembering to where, his heart again twitched and aching tightly to there...

Shang Yuan suddenly again took hold of her hand, asking: "Grandma, ah, that year albeit winning the battle resoundingly, nevertheless his very self also carried heavy injuries. In that moment of life and death, the person still squeezed my hand tightly demanding that I must marry him to the ultimate, promising sufficient things speaking that he absolutely would never change, yet why now has the person hastily violated the oath? Why has the person changed so rapidly? I truly do not understand… thinking on and on, I still do not understand..."

"Ah Yuan, ah…" The Empress Dowager suddenly let out a sigh, rubbing upon the back of his hand, saying: "Grandma sees that he has changed by how much? Or is it that my grandchild has been excessively strict toward him? Why not give him one opportunity to try explaining? Ah Yuan look, he has arrived to this place since the afternoon, furthermore is currently kneeling awaiting before the door of the meditation quarters; solely fearing that right now he is already frozen to death."

"Since the afternoon?" The person had arrived to this place since the afternoon ah? Why did his very self know nothing at all?

Outdoors the sky was raining snow, freezing cold to the marrow of the bones, how could one permit him to kneel before the gate of the meditation quarters in such a manner? Thinking toward it, Shang Yuan could not help but worryingly ask: "Why did Grandma permit him to act in such a manner? Why did Grandma not chase him to turn back?"

The Empress Dowager for a fleeting moment felt defeated along with this foolish grandchild; clearly missing the person to the degree of becoming exhausted and emaciated like that, yet what was there to be unyielding about? Thinking toward it, she solely shook her head, saying: "I did chase him, yet he decisively would not depart, stating that he awaits Ah Yuan's forgiveness, awaiting until being permitted to meet face only then will his heart be resigned."

Silent in deep thought for a long while, Shang Yuan instantly strived to sit up, wishing to step down from the bed, saying: "Let me go out to look upon him."

"Very well, then I shall support you to go."

Shang Yuan shook his head: "No requirement, Grandma; I can go by my very self already."

"Can you walk or not?" Looking upon him in such a manner truly caused her to unceasingly worry.

"Yes." Truly in this moment, if he wished to walk he also could not walk, yet he decisively had to arrive to look upon the person one turn before it would do.

In the midst of the night sky of raining snow, an intensely frigid temperature cold to the marrow of the bones like that, what ordinary person could endure it? Nevertheless, RongCheng still stubbornly knelt at that place, his back straight without a shred of leaning or swaying, albeit his lips had already turned purple and pale.

"Cheng…"

Just hearing the familiar voice, RongCheng instantly raised his gaze looking up to search: "Ah Yuan... Ah Yuan?"

From far away was a person falteringly walking forward, the umbrella in his hand also a bit leaning and swaying.

Across a bout of struggling, Shang Yuan arrived to stand before the face of RongCheng, remaining silent without speaking. Catching sight of the person in such a state, the tear pearls were difficult to restrain, again flowing long across his two cheeks.

The two people silently looked upon one another, knowing not who was in more pain than whom, solely sensing their hearts immensely choked with grievance and resentment. RongCheng reached forward striving to catch hold of Shang Yuan's hand, in a lowered voice calling: "Ah Yuan."

The sound of his call possessed a bit of trembling because of the freezing cold and also the ache and torment when by misfortune failing the affection: "Forgive me, I was wrong… Pray you do not be in such a manner, pray give me one opportunity to correct the fault."

Shang Yuan still remained silent; right in this moment, he truly knew not what he ought to speak, solely sensing his heart breaking into pieces.

Catching sight of Shang Yuan not answering himself, RongCheng again said: "If you still refuse to forgive, I will kneel forever at this place. Could it be that only awaiting until I die away will you feel satisfied in heart?"

"Cheng…" The umbrella in Shang Yuan's hand suddenly fell to the ground; he also knelt down before RongCheng's eyes, reaching his hand out to touch the man's ice-cold face, in a lowered voice asking: "Why must you go to such lengths?"

RongCheng gently touched upon his hand, shaking his head, saying: "Ah Yuan, depart not far away from me… I solely love exclusively you alone... Truly… I cannot lose you…"

The person wishing to depart far away from him was an impossible matter, solely excepting if death separated them. Formerly it was thus, eternally toward afterward it would also be thus; RongCheng would never let go of his hand.

The words of RongCheng caused Shang Yuan to turn all the more chaotic and perplexed: "Love me…? Do you truly still love me?"

Was it not that he already loved his adopted younger brother ah? If it were not thus, then how could there exist actions like that?

At this time, the strength of RongCheng also nearly reached the limit; he solely gently shook his head: "My love has never changed… the affair of Ah Si… is because of…"

One word RongCheng had not yet finished speaking, and he collapsed down and fainted away.

Shang Yuan embraced his frame, shaking and asking: "Because of what… you in the final analysis are because of what?"

Why did the person change? In the final analysis, why did the person change?

The space was completely quiet and still; no longer could one hear the sound of talking, but in its place were bouts of icy-cold snow wind blowing over; Shang Yuan silently embraced RongCheng tightly inside his bosom, before long also together falling into a daze.

Who would have expected there would be a day when his very self together along with RongCheng had to fall into a situation so wretched to this extent? Knowing not from where the wind and waves surged over, letting two people who originally were healthy, peaceful, and joyful all of a sudden become like that? Yet thinking back, solely possessing thus would one all the more know to cherish and love one another much more.

Not long after, both people were brought into the interior for rescue and treatment. RongCheng was severely afflicted with cold frost; nevertheless, previously his body was originally robust and strong, so it did not reach the extent of critical danger.
