Chapter 96 - Melted

Succubi Chapter 96. Melted

Her eyes softened.

"I hate this helplessness," I added, my voice rougher now. "I hate standing there, knowing if someone didn't step in, I'd be dead. But I can't just do reckless sh*t either. That's not me. Not unless it's… life or death. And even then… I just—" I chuckled bitterly. "I just feel pathetic."

For a second, silence. Just her watching me.

Then her hand slid from my cheek to my hair. She patted my head gently, fingers weaving through the strands, massaging lightly like she was trying to soothe a scared animal.

I froze.

And then melted.

Her other hand rubbed slow circles against my scalp, and before I realized it, my head tilted, resting against her chest. Her heartbeat thudded steady under my ear.

Warm. Comforting.

Sera.

Pampering me.

It was ridiculous. Unthinkable. And yet…

Somehow… nice.

I let my arms slide around her waist, hugging her, pulling her closer. Her tentacles twitched at the contact, curling loosely around my back and shoulders, but this time… it wasn't suffocating. It was like being wrapped in a weighted blanket that happened to purr.

"I'm here," she murmured, pressing her chin lightly against my hair.

I grunted softly. "You don't usually do this."

She smirked, her voice lazy but softer than usual. "You don't usually let me."

"…Touché."

Her fingers trailed through my hair again, scratching lightly at my scalp. My whole body sighed against her, like I'd been carrying bricks all day and someone finally lifted them off.

"I don't want to lose this," I muttered against her chest. My voice was muffled but honest. "I don't want to lose you guys."

"You won't," she whispered. "Not if I have anything to say about it."

I snorted quietly. "You? You nap through half of class."

Her chest shook with a soft laugh. "Doesn't mean I don't know when to wake up."

I tilted my head enough to glance at her. "You really think I'll get stronger?"

She nodded immediately. "Yeah."

"Just like that?"

"Just like that."

I frowned. "Why are you so sure?"

Her lips curved into a sleepy smile. "Because you already are."

Something in my chest tightened. I looked away, embarrassed. "I don't feel like it."

"You don't have to feel it yet," she said, stroking my hair again. "You just have to keep moving."

I let out a shaky laugh. "You sound like Callahan."

She chuckled. "Maybe he's smarter than he looks."

We sat there like that, her arms and tentacles wrapped around me, my head resting on her chest, my pride slowly stitching itself back together under her touch.

I sighed. "You're really soft, you know that?"

"Am I?"

"Yeah. Don't get used to me admitting it."

She grinned, lazy and smug again, but not mean. "Too late. I'm making a scrapbook."

I groaned. "You're insufferable."

"Mm. You like it."

I didn't answer. But I didn't let go either.

Her hand brushed down to my jaw again, tilting my face up just slightly. Our eyes met, close, intimate.

"You'll be fine, Evan," she whispered. "We'll be fine. Trust me."

I swallowed hard, caught in her gaze. My heart hammered against my ribs, too loud, too obvious.

"I do," I admitted softly.

Her smile softened, no smugness this time. Just warmth.

Then her thumb brushed over my lower lip, and my breath hitched.

Her voice dropped, husky and teasing again. "You know, if I keep holding you like this… I might not let you go."

My lips twitched. "…Is that a threat or a promise?"

She smirked. "Both."

I laughed quietly, even as my chest tightened in ways I didn't want to admit.

We didn't sleep. Couldn't.

Not with everything hanging over us.

But for the first time since I'd come here… I didn't feel alone.

And maybe that was enough.

Or at least, it should've been.

But then her fingers slid down my cheek again, tracing the line of my jaw, soft and deliberate. Her thumb brushed the corner of my mouth, and I swear my whole body forgot how to function for a second.

"You're thinking too loud," Sera whispered, her breath ghosting across my skin.

I tried to snort it off, but it came out shaky. "I don't think you're in a position to call me loud."

Her lips curved into a lazy smile. "Maybe not. But I am in the position to quiet you down."

Her tentacle curled lightly around my wrist, not restraining this time, just warm. Another coiled at my waist, tugging me fractionally closer until my face was tilted up toward hers. She leaned in slow, slow enough to give me an out. I didn't take it.

Our lips brushed, barely there, like the faintest taste of fire.

I froze.

She kissed me again, this time not a tease, not a game. Just soft. Lingering. Her tongue flicked across my lower lip, testing, asking. My chest tightened, my pride screamed 'don't look desperate', but my body betrayed me. My mouth parted for her.

The kiss deepened.

Her hands slid into my hair, holding me close, her tentacles curling around us like a cocoon. I could smell her, warm, faintly sweet, like sugar left in the sun. Taste her, lazy and decadent and a little wild, like she'd been born to drive me crazy.

I pulled back just enough to breathe, my forehead resting against hers. My voice cracked with a laugh I didn't mean. "This isn't very wholesome of you."

Her half-lidded eyes glittered, smug and soft all at once. "I told you earlier… after the blowjob, I'd want more."

Heat punched through my gut at the memory. My cock twitched in my pants, traitorous.

"Yeah," I muttered. "You did say that."

"And now," she whispered, brushing her lips against mine again, "I'm collecting."

Her tentacle brushed the back of my neck, down my spine, shivery-light. I gasped before I could stop myself. She smirked into the kiss.

"I hate you," I muttered against her mouth.

"No, you don't." Her tongue slipped into my mouth, tasting me.

I groaned. She swallowed it.
