Location: Ninjago, Wildwood Forest
Time: Year 3506 of the [ Spinjitzu Calendar ].
The Wildwood Forest lay to the northeast of the Impossible Heights mountains, and the forest was dangerous and few ventured into it. The Wildwood Forest teemed with hidden life; the howls of the deadly Shadow Wolves echoed among the giant trees, and the eyes of the dawn-rearing, murderous owls watch from above, while wild snakes slithered silently among the twisted roots, giants tree bears prepared for their winter hibernation, giant spiders built their nests, and spiritual deer roamed the forest.
But in this dangerous place, six characters ran with blurry speed, jumping between the trees.
Five of the characters wore uniforms in different colors and ninja masks, while the sixth character wore a black cloak covering her head, and her body, and a small black mask covering her mouth.
They were the five ninjas, and Lyanna Garmadon.
Kai: I don't even think Zane knows where he's going.
Kai grumbled while following Zane, who claimed that he had found Lloyd and the Serpentine's base this morning, and now they were following him deep into Wildwood Forest.
Jay: Tell us again how you found Lloyd's secret base?
Jay asked annoyed while jumping over a huge tree trunk.
Zane: I followed a bird.
Zane answered calmly while leading the team.
Cole: Why did you follow a bird?
Cole asked in extreme confusion.
Zane: Because it was dancing.
The ninjas looked at each other, then Jay said slowly, "Oh… okay. Was it a cuckoo?"
"Hahaha!!! Good joke, Jay!"
Cole and Kai laughed.
Jay shrugged sarcastically and said, "What can I say, I am known for my sense of humor."
Po scowled and said, "Guys, focus."
Kai waved his hand, saying, "Relax, Po, we are asking serious questions here, so we are fully focused."
Cole smiled sarcastically under his mask and said, "Yes, that's right. So, Zane, was it a cuckoo?"
Kai, Jay, and Cole burst into laughter again while Po's frown deepened. The three had been like this since yesterday, mocking Zane and making him a source of their laughter.
Zane: Of course not. Everyone knows cuckoos aren't native to these forests.
The three looked at each other in silence, then burst out laughing again.
Lyanna: Silence!! Do you dare call yourselves ninjas with this rude behavior toward your teammate?!
The three were silent, then Kai replied annoyed, "And what's it to you?"
Jay: Yes! What's it to you? Even Zane didn't say anything.
Cole: Po, why did we bring her along again?
Po opened his mouth, but Lyanna interrupted angrily:
"Because I want to find Lloyd and bring him home!! And the best for you is to stay quiet and follow Zane so we can reach Lloyd!!"
Kai: Okay, that's enough!! I'm tired of you and your foolish behavior!! Since you came, you've only caused us trouble and harm!! You're crazy and selfish just like your father!!
Jay: Yes! That's right!! All you think about is Lloyd and Lloyd only! But let me clarify one thing, daughter of Garmadon: we haven't run since dawn from the Impossible Heights mountains to here just for your spoiled brother only, we came to stop the Serpentine and prevent them from harming more innocents as happened in Jamangkai Village!!
Cole: Guys!! What are you saying?!
Kai glared sharply at Lyanna: "No!! I've had enough of your rude behavior!! If you are coming on missions with us, you must be silent and not annoy us, or we will kick you in the butt just like we did with your father before!!"
Po: Kai!! Watch out!!
Kai's eyes widened when he saw a massive purple energy heading toward him.
Kai jumped quickly from the giant tree branch and dodged the purple energy orb.
Boom!!!
A loud explosion was heard as the fifty-meter-tall tree, five meters wide, split in half instantly.
Crraack!!
Kaboom!!
A loud crash echoed as the tree trunk hit the ground.
The predators that had been thinking of attacking the ninjas fled immediately in horror at the sight and the display of terrifying power.
Kai flew through the air with force and headed toward the ground at speed, but performed Spinjitzu mid-air to slow his descent, then drew his fiery sword and fired from its tip, which allowed him to land safely.
Kai inhaled sharply and looked angrily at Lyanna, who had landed directly in front of him and slowly drew her sickles.
Kai: You will regret that!!
Lyanna smiled sarcastically and said, "Make me."
Haaaa!!! Kai charged angrily with force, but Zane landed in front of him and stopped him from rushing at Lyanna.
Kai: What are you doing?! Leave me immediately!!
Kai shouted angrily while looking at Lyanna with red eyes full of rage; the crazy girl had just tried to kill him.
Zane: Kai!! Please calm down, this is not the time!! Lloyd is free over there with the Serpentine, and if you fight Lyanna, you might alert them and they will escape from us!!
Jay: I'm sure they heard that explosion just now!! Why do you have to be crazy like this and respond to rude words with deadly explosions?! Don't you know how to use your mouth?!
Jay landed near Kai and shouted at Lyanna in frustration.
Lyanna looked angrily at Jay and said, "If you don't shut your little mouth, I'll blow you up like I did with that tree!!"
Jay: Oh really? Do you think I'm afraid of you? Come at me!!
Jay drew his golden nunchaku as he finished speaking and looked at Lyanna angrily.
Cole: Jay!! Wait a bit!!
Cole landed from the huge trees and approached his friend with concern, as after seeing what just happened he was sure Jay was no match for Lyanna.
Lyanna smiled cruelly, then her destructive energy danced on her hand again, as she was fed up with the nonsense of those who call themselves ninjas and also they dare to insult her father? In front of her? Who do they think they are?
But before anyone could react, she regenerated, received several strikes on her body, and then found herself paralyzed on the ground, unable to move.
" What is this, by the cursed realm?!" Lyanna thought in shock. She tried to move but could not, then looked at Po, who was standing above her with angry eyes.
"Okay, I tried to be nice to you as much as possible, Lyanna, but it seems you have completely lost your mind. Since you arrived at the monastery, you've been shouting about wanting to find Lloyd, and now as we get close to finding him, you try to blow up my friends?!! What is wrong with you?!"
Po shouted angrily at Lyanna.
"They insulted my father!! They deserve what will happen to them!!"
Lyanna responded sharply while trying to free herself from Po's Finger Paralysis Technique, but could not move.
Kai: Well, if you love your father that much, you can meet him in the Underworld!!
Kai shouted in anger and was ready to attack Lyanna, but Cole punched him hard on the head. Kai fell face-first, and before he could react, he found himself trapped under many blocks of stone.
Cole: I think you have done and said enough, Kophead.
Cole said coldly.
Jay did not speak and struggled hard against Lyanna, but Zane trapped him in a block of ice.
"I'm sorry, Jay, but our mission cannot risk failure."
Zane said with a serious expression on his face, while holding his golden shuriken.
Kai, Jay, and Lyanna struggled, but they were unable to free themselves from their positions.
Po: "Look, Lyanna, I know they were wrong and said offensive things about your father, but you can't just try to kill everyone all the time and then expect them to accept you or befriend you."
Lyanna: "Didn't I make myself clear from the beginning?! I don't want your friendship or your acceptance as one of you!! I don't care about any of you!! All that matters to me is getting Lloyd back and returning him to my home, nothing more!!"
Lyanna shouted angrily at Po, then slowly stood up.
Cole: "Impossible!! How did you manage to disable Po's technique?!"
Zane: "That is truly astonishing! No wonder you are the niece of Master Wu."
Po looked at Lyanna with slight shock. This was the first time someone had broken free from the effects of his Finger Paralysis Technique on their own.
It was an advanced kung fu technique taught to him by his master, targeting pressure points and nerves to paralyze the opponent and render them unable to move.
It required extreme speed, precision, and deep anatomical knowledge to accurately strike pressure points, joints, and nerves.
Yet Lyanna stood up after only two minutes.
Lyanna smirked at the shocked expressions on Po, Cole, and Zane, then said:
"If you think something like that can stop me, you are mistaken. And now let me make one thing clear—carve it into your minds well: none of you will dare insult my family in front of me again. Next time, it won't just be trees that explode."
Lyanna leapt up, climbed a massive tree with speed, and sat on one of its branches, watching the ninja who will led her toward the brother she had searched for for years.
Cole: "I still think bringing her with us was a bad idea, Po."
Po: "We were going to her lost brother—the one she searched for for years. I couldn't leave her behind."
Zane: "I agree with Cole. Lyanna could jeopardize the mission and rush directly toward Lloyd."
Po sighed and said nothing.
In truth, when Zane had come to them that morning saying he found the Serpentine base and Lloyd, the others wanted to go without Lyanna.
But Po opposed them and told her they had found her brother.
After the chaos that nearly got Kai blown apart earlier, Po began to regret his decision.
While Po was lost in thought, Cole and Zane freed Jay and Kai from their restraints, and the four began arguing intensely.
Cole: "What's wrong with you, Kai?! Would you like someone insulting your father like that in front of you?!"
Kai: "I only spoke the truth!! What has Garmadon brought us other than misery and suffering?! He kidnapped my sister and threw her into lava for no reason!!"
Zane: "The sins of a parent do not define who their children are, Kai."
Jay: "Oh really?! What if the children have the same madness as the father and cause a 45-centimeter wound across your torso for no reason?!"
Kai: "And don't forget she broke two of my ribs and Nya's nose for no reason!!"
Cole: "Guys!! You're being overly dramatic!! Master Wu healed all those injuries!!"
Jay: "Physically, maybe. But he can't heal the trauma those wounds caused!!"
Cole: "That makes no sense, Jay. We suffered worse injuries during our training with Master Wu and when we first fought Garmadon and his army. Those injuries healed over months without his help—and I didn't see you traumatized then."
Jay turned away, crossed his arms, and said:
"Speak for yourself!! Not all of us have bodies like rock and muscles like marble."
Kai: "And don't forget the insults she threw at all of us!!"
Cole shook his head in disbelief.
"Can you two just let it go and stop being spiteful?!"
Zane: "Cole is right. We must let go of grudges and work together as a team."
Kai: "A team? With Lyanna? Forget it."
Jay: "Yeah. That's not happening."
Po stared sharply at Kai and Jay.
"We discussed this last night. Lyanna is the master's niece. Like it or not, she will live with us at the monastery. You must learn to coexist with her and stop reacting to everything she says—and never insult her father or brother in front of her again.
As for what happened two days ago, she was only testing our strength. Lyanna is not a bad person. No bad person searches for their brother for six years without returning home even once."
Kai and Jay exchanged uncertain looks but said nothing.
Po: "Zane, please lead us to the Serpentine base and Lloyd."
Po leapt into the trees.
The others sighed and followed.
After a while of Zane leading them through the forest, they finally reached the intended location.
The five ninja landed behind a massive tree trunk and stared in astonishment at the gigantic treehouse built by the Serpentine.
As for Lyanna, she was standing on a high branch among the leaves, scanning the area intensely with her eyes in search of Lloyd.
Cole: "Oh my God… Frosty was right!"
Kai: "We can't allow Lloyd and those snakes to control Ninjago. We have to destroy that thing before it becomes fully operational."
Jay: "Wow! Are you sure? It looks like an awesome treehouse. There's a rope course… oh, and a tree swing!"
Cole: "Hey! Remember which team you're on, Jay!"
Zane: "Alright guys, we've arrived as promised. What do we do now?"
Everyone fell silent at Zane's question and then looked at Po.
Po looked at them and said in confusion, "Why are you all looking at me?"
Jay: "I don't know… maybe because you're the leader?"
Po: "Wait a minute—since when am I the leader?"
Cole: "Since you led us in Jamanakai Village against the Serpentine and Lloyd, and came up with a plan that allowed us to defeat them."
Zane: "Yes, Po, Cole is right. Your plans have a higher probability of success, and your leadership skills have already proven effective in battle."
Kai muttered irritably, "Why does Po have to be the leader? I can lead you too."
Cole & Jay: "Shut up, Kai. You always rush in without thinking, so it's impossible to trust you with leadership."
Kai: "What?! When did that happen?!"
Jay: "Uh, hello? Maybe when you rushed in angrily in Jamanakai Village and got captured by the snakes?"
Cole: "Yeah, your stupid behavior almost cost us dearly last time, Cuphead."
Zane: "With all due respect, Kai, but they're right. You're not fit to be a leader."
Kai clenched his fists angrily and said, "Whatever. But when Po's plan fails, don't come begging me to lead you."
Cole, Jay, and Zane ignored Kai and looked at Po.
Po looked at his friends and scratched his head in confusion—he hadn't expected this situation when he first came to the Spinjitzu Monastery. He sighed and silently accepted the responsibility of leadership. He then carefully examined the massive treehouse and the Hypnobrai army guarding it, identified the obvious structural weak points, and formed a quick, solid plan in his mind. But before he could speak, Lyanna silently landed among them.
Lyanna looked at Po and said,
"Your plan must include separating Lloyd from the Serpentine so I can talk to him."
Po and the four ninja looked at Lyanna silently, then Po nodded and said firmly,
"Yes, Lyanna. We'll help you get your brother back, right guys?"
Cole: "Of course."
Zane: "Absolutely. Lloyd is part of the Master's family as well."
The three looked at Jay and Kai, who hesitated briefly before saying, "Fine."
Po: "Alright, guys, here's the plan. It seems the entire structure is supported by those three trees."
Po pointed at three trees tied with ropes that stabilized and supported the treehouse, then continued:
Po: "Once those bindings are cut, everything will collapse like a house of cards. The plan is for Kai, Jay, and Cole to position themselves in those trees and cut the ropes when I give the signal. Zane will distract the snakes so we can isolate Lloyd. Then Lyanna and I will head into the core of the base and bring Lloyd to safety, away from the battle. Is that clear?"
"Clear," the four ninja said in unison, and Lyanna nodded.
Po: "Alright. Before we begin, does anyone have any questions about the plan?"
Zane: "I have a simple question. Why would someone build a house out of cards? That would be negligent construction."
Kai slapped his forehead.
Jay stifled a laugh.
Lyanna looked at Zane as if he were an idiot.
Cole shook his head helplessly.
Po sighed and said, "It's just a metaphor, Zane. No one actually builds a house out of cards."
Zane: "Oh. Alright."
Po: "Any other questions?"
Kai: "No! Let's do this!"
Cole: "Yeah! Let's kick some snake butt!"
Jay: "Yeah! Let's do this, guys!"
Po: "Alright. Follow me and move through the shadows."
The ninja and Lyanna jumped from their positions and began sneaking, each heading toward their assigned task.
Zane leapt onto a massive branch, then jumped straight into the middle of the treehouse and kicked one of the soldiers hard in the jaw.
"What is that?!"
"An intruder!!"
"It's one of those ninja!!"
"Sound the alarm!!"
The Hypnobrai soldiers shouted immediately, sounded the alarm, and charged toward Zane.
Zane: "Ninjago!!"
Zane shouted loudly, performed Spinjitzu, sent several soldiers flying, and began punching and kicking through the Hypnobrai ranks like a storm.
Jay: "Whoa!! Zane is not messing around!!"
Kai: "Yeah, he's hitting them hard!!"
Cole: "Focus, guys!! Everyone get to your positions and wait for the signal!!"
Kai and Jay nodded and moved to their positions.
Meanwhile, Zane swept through the Hypnobrai soldiers, becoming like a white storm among them.
"Ahhh!! Take this, you damned human!!"
A soldier shouted angrily, but Zane grabbed him and struck him so hard that he flew and crashed into several other soldiers rushing toward him.
Lloyd: "What's going on, Slithraa? What's all this noise? It's eight in the morning!!"
Lloyd exited his room and shouted angrily at the Hypnobrai general, having been woken by the loud fighting noises.
Slithraa: "It's the ninja, my lord!! They're attacking our base!! Stay hidden until we deal with them!!"
Lloyd: "The ninja?! Why do they ruin everything?!"
Lloyd shouted in frustration, then yelled angrily,
"Stop them, Slithraa!! Drive them out of my home!!"
Slithraa turned to his soldiers and shouted,
"You heard Lord Lloyd!! Hypnobrai, attack!!"
"Aaaahhh!!"
The Hypnobrai screamed angrily and charged at Zane, who had reached the same level they were on.
Zane quickly looked at the incoming soldiers, analyzed the situation, and concluded that a direct confrontation meant immediate defeat. He pulled out his golden shuriken and threw it onto the wooden floor.
The effect was immediate—the floor froze instantly.
"Whoa!!"
"Watch out!!"
"Ahhh!!"
The Hypnobrai soldiers slipped on the icy surface, and some fell off the treehouse.
"That's enough!!"
Lloyd: "Slithraa, let's get out of here!!"
Lloyd shouted in fear when he saw the Serpentine soldiers losing to Zane alone.
Slithraa: "At once, my lord!!"
Slithraa turned, lifted Lloyd with ease, and headed toward the treehouse elevator.
Zane: "Oh no you don't!!"
Zane shouted sharply and threw his shuriken in front of the elevator entrance, freezing it shut and preventing Slithraa and Lloyd from escaping.
Zane then leapt forward and kicked Slithraa hard in the jaw.
Slithraa staggered from the blow and dropped Lloyd, then roared in anger and attacked Zane.
Zane immediately took a defensive stance, and the two engaged in a fierce fight.
Lloyd looked around at the chaos Zane had caused in fear and tried to crawl away quickly, but Skales and Mezmo appeared in front of him.
Skales smirked mockingly and said,
"And where do you think you're going?"
Mezmo: "Come here, you little brat!!"
Mezmo grabbed Lloyd and threw him into a cage brought by one of the soldiers.
Lloyd slammed into the wooden cage, grabbed the bars, and shouted,
"What are you doing, Skales?!"
Skales: "Silence!! You've spoiled us and made us carry out your childish orders for far too long!! Your era—and General Slithraa's era—is over! Now my era begins! The era of Skales!!"
Skales screamed in rage and madness, having finally had enough of all the humiliation he endured since their release from the Tomb of Ice.
Lloyd: "Help me, General!!"
Mezmo: "The General is busy fighting for his life against that ninja!! He can't help you now!! Hahahaha!!"
Lloyd fell silent and looked fearfully at Slithraa, who was being beaten by Zane.
Skales smiled in satisfaction at Lloyd's expression and ordered Mezmo,
"Mezmo, take the boy and retreat from this cursed place. I'll take this opportunity to kill one of those damn ninja."
Skales pulled out his daggers, smiled wickedly, and launched himself with great speed and power toward Zane.
Slithraa: "Take this!!"
Slithraa shouted angrily and threw a fast punch at Zane.
Zane ducked under it, kicked Slithraa in the stomach, landed several rapid punches to his face and body, then finished with a quick Spinjitzu move that sent Slithraa flying.
"Aaahhh!!"
Slithraa screamed in pain as he crashed to the ground.
"Damn it! If only I had my staff!" Slithraa thought angrily, then rose and charged at Zane again.
Zane gripped his weapon and watched Slithraa cautiously—this serpent was far stronger than the others he had fought.
Po: "Zane, watch out!!"
Po shouted in concern and shoved Zane aside.
"Ahhh!!"
Skales roared angrily and stabbed the spot where Zane had been standing.
Boom!!
The wooden floor exploded and shattered from the force of Skales' strike.
Zane stared at Skales in shock—he hadn't noticed him while fighting Slithraa.
Po stepped in front of Skales and kicked him hard in the chest.
"Ugh!!"
Skales groaned in pain and was sent flying.
Zane quickly got up and said,
"Thank you, Po. I owe you."
Po: "Don't thank me, Zane. We're family—and family supports each other. You've done enough. Now it's our turn to capture Lloyd."
Zane looked at Po, felt warmth in his chest from his words, and said,
"We are family indeed. Now let's teach these snakes a lesson!! Ninjago!!"
Zane shouted, performed Spinjitzu, and attacked several soldiers.
Meanwhile, Po collided head-on with Slithraa.
Slithraa: "You!! I'll kill you for what you did to me!!"
Po smirked mockingly at Slithraa's one-eyed face and said,
"How's your eye, General? Doing well?"
"Aaaarghhh!!"
Slithraa roared in rage from the humiliation and attacked Po furiously.
Po blocked the blows and struck back with brutal force.
Mezmo: "Skales!! Are you alright?!"
Skales staggered to his feet and said,
"Don't worry about me. Just take the boy and go!!"
Mezmo nodded and moved toward the terrified Lloyd.
Lyanna: "Lloyd!!"
At that moment, Lyanna arrived on the same level and looked at Lloyd, shouting in alarm.
Time froze for Lyanna.
Six years.
Six years of relentless searching and suffering—and she had finally found him.
She had found her little brother, whom she hadn't seen since he was three years old.
He had changed and grown so much, but she recognized him instantly.
Then she saw something that ignited fierce rage in her chest.
She saw Lloyd trying to escape the wooden cage, and a Serpentine soldier punched him hard and kicked him back inside.
Lyanna's eyes ignited with fury, glowing purple as her dark power danced in her hand. A thin black mist spread through the air, the atmosphere became suffocating, and the air warned of imminent destruction.
Po stopped fighting and slowly turned toward Lyanna, his eyes widening in shock as he shouted,
"Lyanna, no!!"
Lyanna: "Get away from my brother, you bastard!!"
Lyanna screamed in rage and hurled a purple energy sphere at Mezmo with tremendous force.
Mezmo's eyes widened in shock; he froze in terror—then the inevitable happened.
BOOOOOM!!!!
The entire area exploded. Mezmo's body disintegrated instantly into fine purple dust. The place was turned upside down, Lloyd's cage was flung away, the entire floor collapsed with everyone on it, and the massive treehouse shook violently.
Jay: "What was that?!"
Kai: "That must be the signal!!"
Cole: "No, guys, I don't think so—wait!!"
Cole shouted anxiously, and Kai and Jay stopped at the last moment before cutting the ropes, looking at Cole in confusion.
Po and Zane struggled to their feet and stared at the devastation, their eyes wide with shock at the overwhelming power.
Lyanna took a sharp breath and looked at the unconscious Lloyd in his cage, shouting in panic,
"Lloyd!!"
She tried to run toward him but was forced to stop and block Skales' lethal strikes.
Skales: "You killed Mezmo!! How dare you?!"
Skales screamed in fury and kicked Lyanna hard in the chest. She was sent flying but landed lightly on her feet.
Skales rushed forward, pulled the unconscious Lloyd from the cage, and pressed a dagger to his throat.
Lyanna froze instantly, her eyes wide with fear and rage.
Po and Zane watched the situation with equal concern.
Po: "Stand down, Skales. You're surrounded."
The three spread out and encircled Skales.
Zane: "Let the boy go."
Skales: "Never!!"
Lyanna: "Release my brother!!"
Skales looked at Lyanna and said with a slight smile,
"Your brother? So this filthy little brat is your brother? How wonderful—I'll enjoy killing him in revenge for Mezmo!!"
"Do it and you'll die a worse death than him!!"
Lyanna snarled angrily.
Po stepped forward, pulled out his spear, and said calmly,
"Surrender peacefully, Skales, and you won't die. I advise you to comply with my orders."
Skales smirked at Po and said,
"No. You should be the one obeying my orders!!"
Skales shouted sharply and raised his hand toward Po.
Po's eyes widened in shock as he grabbed his head and began shaking violently.
"Aaahhh!!"
Po screamed in pain as he staggered.
Zane: "Po!! What's happening to you?!"
Skales smiled and said,
"When we fought in Jamanakai Village, I tried to hypnotize him, but one of your damn friends interrupted before the process was complete. Still, I managed to enter his mind. Now all it takes is one simple command—and your friend will become my loyal servant!! Hahahahahaha!!"
Skales laughed wickedly and proudly.
The remaining Hypnobrai soldiers watched in shock, their respect for Skales rising several levels.
Slithraa: "Well done, Skales!! I knew you were a great subordinate!!"
Skales looked at his general with disdain and ignored him, then shouted at Po,
"Now, my new servant—destroy your friends!!"
Po stopped struggling, slowly lifted his head, and his eyes turned into red spirals like the Hypnobrai's.
"In your command, my lord," he said in a monotone voice.
Po leapt forward and kicked Lyanna with blinding speed.
She blocked the strike quickly and stepped back several paces.
Lyanna: "I don't have time for this!! Move!!"
Zane: "Snap out of it, Po! Remember who you are!!"
Skales smiled in satisfaction and shouted,
"Hypnobrai!! Retreat!!"
The army retreated immediately under Skales' command, holding Lloyd hostage.
Lyanna: "Lloyd!!"
Lyanna screamed in rage and tried to pursue them, but was forced to leap back when Po swung his spear violently toward her.
At that moment, Cole, Jay, and Kai arrived.
Jay: "Guys, what's going on?! What was that explosion?! Did you throw the plan out the window or what?!"
Kai: "What's wrong with Po?!"
Cole: "Zane, what happened?!"
Zane: "Po has been taken over!!"
Lyanna: "Move, Po!! I need to save my brother!!"
Po stood in front of them and swung his spear in a wide arc.
The air trembled from the force, and the ninja were pushed back several steps.
