The hypothetical Ancient Kingdom fell.
Twenty kings formed an alliance and established the World Government. They became the Celestial Dragons, the rulers of the world, and settled in the Holy Land of Mariejois atop the Red Line. Only the Nefertari Royal Family chose to remain in the Kingdom of Alabasta.
The Marines, Cipher Pol (CP), and the Impel Down gradually came into existence as the World Government's three major military institutions.
The Kozuki Clan of Wano crafted the Poneglyphs with their unrivaled stonemasonry and sent them across the world.
The World Government outlawed the deciphering of Poneglyphs.
The City of Gold fought to the very end to protect its Poneglyphs before it was finally destroyed.
The Donquixote Family relocated to Mariejois, and the Riku Family became the new royal house of Dressrosa.
After learning the truth about the dwarves' enslavement, King Riku apologized to the Tontatta Tribe. He spread the legend of fairies to protect them, allowing Dressrosa to enjoy nearly 800 years of peace.

1120: Noland departed from the port of Vira Town, heading northeast. Along the way, he purchased a Waver from a passing merchant ship.
1122: Noland set sail for the Grand Line for the third time.
1122: Noland's expedition reached Green Bit. Fighting alongside the ancestors of the Tontatta Tribe, they drove away those destroying the island's vegetation. He became a legendary hero to the Tontatta.
1122: Noland first arrived at Jaya and saved the Shandians from a deadly plague.
1126: Part of Jaya was blasted into the sky by an enormous Knock Up Stream. The great warrior Kalgara died in battle. The Shandians were driven from their homeland, beginning their centuries-long war with the ancestors of Skypiea.
1127: Accompanying the King of Lvneel, Noland returned to Jaya for a second time but found no trace of the City of Gold, Shandora.
1128: Noland was convicted of deceiving the king and publicly executed. From that day on, the world remembered him as Liar Noland, yet he maintained until his final breath that the City of Gold truly existed.

The World Government began researching methods to gigantify humans.
Wano came to be known throughout the world as the Country of Gold.
The legendary swordsman Shimotsuki Ryuma drove back pirates and World Nobles who coveted Wano's riches.
He also slew a dragon that appeared over the Capital. After his death, Ryuma was worshipped as the Sword God, and his Black Blade Shusui became one of Wano's national treasures.

The St. Briss set sail from the Briss Kingdom in the South Blue and entered the Grand Line. Several years later, it was sentenced to "Cloud Drifting" punishment in the White-White Sea.

The ancestors of Ipponmatsu opened a weapon shop in Loguetown, located at the entrance to the Grand Line in the East Blue. The famed blade Yubashiri became the store's prized treasure.

During the celebration, Linlin suddenly suffered a hunger frenzy and devoured everything around her.

After the incident, she inherited the powers of the Soul-Soul Fruit.
One of the giant witnesses told the entire Giant Tribe what he had seen, causing all giants to despise Linlin.

"Golden Lion" Shiki, "Whitebeard" Edward Newgate, "Big Mom" Charlotte Linlin, and other great pirates withdrew one after another after the Roger Pirates unexpectedly entered the battle.
During the battle, Sakazuki critically wounded Kaido. On the verge of death, Kaido was rescued by Big Mom.
Rocks was surrounded by the World Government, the Marines, and the Roger Pirates. Defeated, he fell deep beneath the island.
The magma beneath God Valley erupted, wiping the island from the map. Rocks died in the natural disaster.
The once-mighty Rocks Pirates collapsed. The surviving members returned to the New World, recruited their own crews, and threw the seas into chaos.
Big Mom discovered the Mythical Zoan Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon and used it to save Kaido's life.
The World Government concealed much of what truly happened at God Valley. Instead, it heavily publicized the Marines' achievements to intimidate the world, and Garp was awarded the title of Hero of the Marines.
Sakazuki then began patrolling the Four Blues, hunting down pirates.
While passing through a small island in the West Blue engulfed in flames, he rescued Carlo from the ruins.

The great thief Hiriluk was suffering from a terminal illness when he experienced the "Miracle Sakura" and was cured.
From that day forward, he became a doctor and began researching a universal cure.

Zephyr defeated Morris in the competition for the position of Admiral. He received the codename "Black Arm," and the title of the Admiral Who Never Kills spread across the seas.
Smoker was born on the Grand Line.
Big Mom and Kaido went their separate ways.
Morris resigned from active duty and became the principal of the Marine Headquarters Academy.
Monkey D. Dragon met Sakazuki for the first time.
Sakazuki entered the White-White Sea while searching for the Ark Maxim. During the journey, he encountered Enel and brought him back to the Blue Sea.
After a verbal dispute between Roger's crew and a nation's army, Roger slaughtered more than five thousand soldiers on Kergashi Island. Sakazuki arrived in time to fight Roger and put an end to the massacre.
After the battle, Roger suffered minor injuries while Sakazuki was left gravely wounded.
Enel was adopted by Morris.
Sengoku and Sakazuki joined forces in the New World to hunt down the "World Destroyer," Byrnndi World. World was killed, and Sakazuki obtained the More-More Fruit.

St. Donquixote Homing renounced his status as a Celestial Dragon. He left Mariejois with his family to live on the surface, only to face rejection and persecution from ordinary people.

Admiral Zephyr's wife was murdered by pirates. His young son was rescued by Enel, planting the seeds for the future Battle of Sgri.
The Marines launched a campaign of revenge against pirates.
Whitebeard's adopted sons were hunted down by the Marines in the New World, prompting Whitebeard to attack Marine G-4 Branch.
Every Marine stationed at G-4 was killed. Base Commander Vice Admiral Quell was rescued by Sakazuki and Sengoku.
Marine reinforcements continued arriving. The Golden Lion, Roger, and the Big Mom Pirates all entered the battle.
The Battle of Sgri erupted.
The war lasted seven days. Tens of thousands of troops fought on both sides, along with numerous powerful warriors.
After the war:
The entire Sgri Sea was erased from the maps. More than twenty islands sank beneath the ocean, and the civilian death toll could never be accurately counted.
Over half of the Golden Lion Pirates were destroyed.
Nearly half of the Roger Pirates were killed or wounded, including their first mate, Scopper Gaban, who died in battle.
Several of Big Mom's biological children were killed.
Whitebeard fell in battle. Before dying, he unleashed one final attack that overturned the entire sea. Every island in the Sgri Sea was swallowed beneath the waves.
The Whitebeard Pirates were wiped out. Only Marco survived, and Whitebeard entrusted him to Roger before his death.
Admiral Zephyr suffered permanent injuries and transferred to the rear lines as the Chief Instructor of the Marine Headquarters Academy.
Admiral Sengoku disappeared after being critically wounded.
Vice Admiral Sakazuki was gravely injured and remained unconscious for six months.
More than twenty thousand Marines lost their lives, and a Heroes' Memorial was erected at Marine Headquarters.
Borsalino joined the Marines.

At the age of ten, Doflamingo murdered his father and carried his severed head back to Mariejois, hoping to regain his status as a Celestial Dragon. He was rejected.
Rosinante left the Donquixote Family and encountered the severely wounded, amnesiac Sengoku. Garp later found Sengoku, and Rosinante was adopted by him before joining the Marines.
Boa Hancock was born that same year.
Sakazuki arrested Vegapunk. Queen and Caesar Clown were also captured, bringing the illegal research organization MADS to an end. Vinsmoke Judge escaped only because he happened to be away.

Shiki launched a surprise attack on Marine Headquarters but was ambushed by Sakazuki, Sengoku, and Garp. He escaped after losing an arm.

Shiki drifted to a mysterious land above the clouds and began researching gigantic beasts.

Roger rejected Shiki's proposal to join forces. Their two pirate fleets clashed in the Edd War Sea of the New World.
Sakazuki secretly detonated magma beneath the ocean, hoping to bury both sides, but failed.
Taking advantage of Shiki's severe injuries, Sakazuki led Enel and Borsalino in a surprise assault against Shiki's remaining forces. He also spread rumors that the Golden Lion had died.
This eventually sparked a three-way war between Big Mom, Shiki, and the Steam Pirates led by Knox.

Trafalgar D. Water Law was born.
Cutty Flam, later known as Franky, was abandoned by his parents at Water 7 and adopted by Tom.
Crocodile entered the New World but suffered a crushing defeat. Every one of his companions was slaughtered by Knox, leaving him as the only survivor.
Because of this battle, the World Government selected Crocodile as a candidate for the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Sakazuki personally delivered the invitation.
After losing one of his arms, Crocodile accepted the position.
Neptune became King of the Ryugu Kingdom on Fish-Man Island.
Sakazuki began quietly taking control of Marine branches across the world, replacing their commanders with his own loyal officers.

Buggy came down with a sudden high fever. Shanks stayed behind to care for him and did not accompany Roger to the final island.
The Roger Pirates reached the end of the Grand Line and named the island "Laugh Tale." After learning the world's complete history, Roger came to be known as the Pirate King.
Soon afterward, the Roger Pirates secretly disbanded.
Roger traveled to Baterilla Island in the South Blue and married Portgas D. Rouge.
That same year, Oden returned to Wano but failed to defeat Orochi.
While traveling toward the New World, Marshall D. Teach was discovered and killed by Sakazuki. His body was sent to Vegapunk's laboratory.

Roger surrendered to the World Government and was arrested.
He was later publicly executed in Loguetown, East Blue. His final declaration ushered in the Great Pirate Era.
The people of Kergashi Island, whose families had once suffered Roger's massacre of over five thousand people, voluntarily traveled to Baterilla Island and wiped out Roger's bloodline.
Rayleigh fought Bullet to protect Rouge and was killed.
To save Roger's unborn child, Garp fought Sakazuki in the skies above Baterilla Island.

Gaimon and his companions arrived on the Island of Rare Animals. He accidentally became trapped inside a treasure chest and remained stranded there alone.

At the age of eight, Robin officially became an archaeologist.
The Five Elders ordered Ohara's destruction. Spandine launched a Buster Call, reducing the entire island to scorched ruins.
Sakazuki ordered the evacuation ship to be shelled.
Kuzan personally froze Saul, but Enel reduced his frozen body to ashes with lightning.
Kuzan then allowed Robin to escape.
As the sole survivor of Ohara, Robin began a life on the run.
Shiki cut off both of his legs to escape from Impel Down and disappeared into hiding.
The Red Count, Patrick Redfield, defeated Fleet Admiral Kong in battle but collapsed from exhaustion afterward. Garp captured him and imprisoned him in Impel Down.

The World Federal Government's Research Division finally unraveled the secret of Devil Fruits, successfully extracting their powers without damaging the fruits themselves.
The original fruits were preserved inside the World Federal Government Headquarters, while their abilities were distributed to commanders fighting across the stars. If one of those commanders died unexpectedly, the power would automatically return to the original fruit.
The military strength of the World Federal Government increased dramatically.
That same year, the World Federal Government officially changed its name to the Cosmic Federation.

More than two hundred years had passed.
The planet that had once been the birthplace of the World Federal Government, now the homeworld of the Cosmic Federation, had never met the destruction that had once been predicted.
The Cosmic Federation released two long-sealed autobiographies. One belonged to the founder of the World Federal Government, Sakazuki. The other belonged to the second Chairman, Carlo.
Together, they recorded every step of their journey, from having absolutely nothing to establishing the World Federal Government.
Written from the perspectives of Sakazuki and Carlo themselves, the autobiographies became required reading throughout the Cosmic Federation. Across its countless allied planets, they were treated almost like sacred texts.
The deeper people studied them, the greater their amazement became.
In an era ruled by feudalism, when nearly the entire world was swallowed by darkness… a man named Sakazuki appeared.
The World Government, which had controlled the world for eight hundred years with absolute authority, seemed little more than a child before him as he systematically outmaneuvered and destroyed it.
The countless pirate overlords that had thrown the world into chaos for eight centuries were reduced to little more than livestock before him. Within only a few years, they were completely eradicated.
He shattered the seemingly unbreakable wall of darkness.
Then, within only a few decades, he dragged an entire civilization from the agricultural age directly into the Interstellar Age, allowing it to become one of the dominant powers in space.
No other individual in the recorded history of the universe had ever accomplished such a feat.
He not only broke the technological suppression imposed by the World Government, but also laid the foundation that would support the Cosmic Federation for centuries and even millennia to come.
One such foundation was the absolute veto power.

The Cosmic Federation expanded until it reached the limits of its control. It then chose to halt further expansion and focus on consolidating its achievements.

Federation Year 1171
The one hundred and thirty-one allied planets under the Cosmic Federation jointly drafted a proposal demanding an end to the Federation's dictatorship and calling for shared political authority.
The Cosmic Federation exercised its absolute veto power, rejecting the proposal. It was the first time that power had ever been used, and it certainly would not be the last.
The use of absolute veto authority shocked the entire world.
Only then did people finally understand the seemingly inexplicable veto power mentioned in Sakazuki's autobiography.
The answer had arrived… more than a thousand years later.

Federation Year 1747
The Interstellar War erupted.
The territory of the Cosmic Federation collided with that of the Galactic Empire. Constant friction eventually escalated into full-scale war.
Ferguson, the Chairman of the Cosmic Federation at the time, publicly declared the Galactic Empire to be a "nation of tyranny." He called for war and rejected every proposal for reconciliation.
Thus began a conflict that would last for ages…

Time continued to flow.
To this day, the Cosmic Federation has grown into a colossal civilization stretching across the universe.
Countless empires and powerful beings that once ruled the stars have disappeared into the endless river of history. Yet despite all that, people have never forgotten the story of where it all began.
Because it is required study for every new student within the Cosmic Federation.
It tells the story of a planet once swallowed by darkness, a turbulent age, and a Marine named Sakazuki, who held high the torch of his ideals and illuminated the endless night.
And where did it all begin?
It all started… in the summer of Sea Circle Calendar 1481.
