Chapter 511 - Chapter 511: Cianwood Gym

Fortunately, Chuck and Yuriko soon stopped their rather forceful feeding session.

"I heard from Nobuhiko that you've made tremendous progress recently!"

Chuck reached out and gave Silas a hearty pat on the shoulder.

Not only Nobuhiko and Chuck, but practically anyone would have found it impossible to believe that this young man standing before them had crossed the threshold between the Pesudo-Elite level and Elite level in less than half a year.

And it wasn't just one Pokémon, either.

For most talented Trainers, crossing this threshold usually took more than a decade of hard work.

Those without much talent could spend their entire lives struggling to even reach the threshold.

Even among the vast majority of officially recognized Elite-level Trainers, obtaining their first Pokémon capable of reaching that level generally took seven or eight years after they first set out on their journey.

Silas had advanced at a speed that put them to shame.

Chuck's gaze toward Silas became increasingly satisfied.

Fortunately, he had been farsighted enough to accept Silas as his junior disciple on behalf of their master.

Otherwise, he might not even have had the chance to become Silas's senior.

"It's nothing special."

Silas scratched the back of his head somewhat awkwardly.

"The little ones deserve most of the credit. They've been working hard too."

"All right, you two can talk about this back at the Gym. It's getting late, anyway. We can have brunch while we're at it."

Yuriko interrupted them with a bright smile.

Chuck immediately nodded in agreement.

Silas could already see what was going on.

Chuck might be an incredibly powerful martial artist and Trainer, but none of that changed his position at home.

Under Yuriko's lead, the two muscular men followed behind her obediently, neither daring to say a word.

"By the way, Silas, you're eighteen this year, right? Do you have a girlfriend? Do you want me to introduce you to one or two girls?"

On their way to the Gym, Yuriko switched into full-on small-talk mode.

Her very first question nearly overwhelmed Silas.

He had never imagined that, after all these years since transmigrating into this world, he would still have to deal with people urging him to date and get married.

Still, for people his age in the Pokémon world, it really was about the right time.

According to the implementation of the Formal Trainer Act, which allowed people aged sixteen and above to legally possess Pokémon, sixteen-year-olds in this world were already regarded as adults.

That included things such as driving and marriage.

Examples of people marrying their childhood sweethearts immediately after turning sixteen were apparently extremely common in the Pokémon world.

But Silas had never really considered any of that.

Having Pokémon was enough. Why would he need a woman?

He was already struggling to find enough time to take care of more than a dozen Pokémon. Where would he find the time to date?

It was a common thought among many Trainers.

It wasn't that they didn't want to date.

They simply genuinely didn't have the time.

Seeing Silas's troubled expression, Yuriko, who had a Gym Leader for a husband, immediately understood what he was thinking.

Putting her hands on her hips, she naturally began lecturing him.

"I'm telling you, you absolutely cannot follow your senior brother Chuck's example. He spends every single day training his Pokémon and working out until he's practically lost his mind.

"And recently, he's even developed a taste for sweets. He runs around outside all day with that enormous belly of his.

"Anyone who didn't know better would think he'd given up martial arts training!

"Recently, we've even had fewer students coming to sign up at Cianwood Gym.

"When he was young, he was exactly like you, putting all his attention into his Pokémon every day. He used to make me so angry I wanted to strangle him."

The beginning sounded perfectly normal.

But the longer Silas listened, the stranger it became.

Wasn't she supposed to stop showing off their affection? Was this some kind of scam targeting single people?

Chuck stood beside them, grinning sheepishly and not daring to say a word.

Faced with Yuriko's relentless barrage, Silas quickly surrendered.

He simply wasn't her match when it came to arguing.

However, Silas didn't find himself annoyed by it.

Instead, he felt a warmth and familiarity that he hadn't experienced in a long time.

"Come to think of it, as your elders, we haven't even given you a coming-of-age gift yet.

"Wait until we get back. I'll prepare something for you. I guarantee you'll love it."

Faced with Yuriko's offer, Silas hurriedly waved his hands.

"No, no, there's really no need. Ampharos was already given to me by Senior Brother Chuck, and it's even a Shiny. It's quite the unique little guy."

"That won't do."

Yuriko waved her hand with the authority of a true Cianwood Gym mistress.

"What he gave you is what he gave you. Besides, that was a meeting gift. It's different from a coming-of-age gift."

Seeing that Silas was still about to refuse, she glared at him.

"All right. No refusing. Otherwise, I'll be upset."

"Exactly, exactly. No refusing, no refusing."

Chuck nodded repeatedly.

Seeing this, Silas could only accept.

"All right, then. Thank you, Yuriko."

The three chatted and laughed as they walked, and before long, they arrived at the entrance of Cianwood Gym.

It was a very traditional courtyard-style building.

"Sensei!"

"Welcome back, Master!"

"Sensei, you've finished today's training!"

Inside the dojo courtyard, a group of children and young adults wearing martial arts uniforms were training together.

Leading them was a four-armed Machamp.

When Chuck and Yuriko returned, they greeted them energetically.

"Champ! champ!"

Machamp, meanwhile, raised a hand toward Silas.

Silas smiled back.

"Long time no see, Machamp. Your muscles are looking better and better."

"Machamp!"

Hearing Silas's praise, Machamp became extremely happy and immediately struck a series of bodybuilding poses.

The Machoke belt around its waist, which had previously been split along one side, had already been replaced by Chuck.

"There are so many people."

Silas couldn't help sighing as he looked at the bustling dojo.

Then again, having a Elite-level Machamp leading the training was certainly an enormous attraction.

Several of the younger students were secretly watching Silas.

Some of them had even recognized his identity, and their faces showed traces of excitement.

"Clap! Clap! Clap!"

Chuck stood at the front of the dojo and clapped his hands loudly.

"Come on, let me introduce someone to all of you."

He pointed toward Silas.

"This is my junior brother, Silas. In other words, he's your junior master. He comes from Viridian City in Kanto."

"Hello, Junior Master Silas!!"

The next moment, a deafening chorus of greetings rang out.

Looking at the hundred or so people bowing in unison, a trace of cold sweat appeared on Silas's forehead.

Seriously, from this angle, Cianwood Gym looked far more like a criminal organization than Team Rocket.

For a moment, he even felt like the boss of some underground gang.

"All right! Get back to training. Don't slack off!"

Perhaps noticing Silas's embarrassment, Chuck immediately ordered the students to return to their training.

At that moment, he was no longer the obedient husband who had barely dared to speak.

Instead, he radiated an imposing presence.

"Yes, sir!!"

Another roar loud enough to shatter the clouds rang out.

The apprentices immediately settled down and began training.

"They seem to have learned everything pretty well," Silas remarked.

Chuck waved his hand dismissively.

"These guys still have a long way to go!

"Come on, let's eat first. They'll be training for quite a while longer."

With that, he led Silas deeper into the courtyard.

Meanwhile, Yuriko had already prepared the food and brought it to the dining table.

After all, Chuck's training continued regardless of the weather. She had already prepared all the meals before going to call him over, including enough food for all the apprentices outside.

The only difference today was that there was one additional person: Silas.

"Eat. Don't be shy. Treat this like your own home."

Chuck casually sat down at the dining table before picking up the basin in front of him and beginning his meal.

Yes, a basin.

And not just any basin. It was the kind of washbasin that was four or five times larger than his face, with a depth far greater than that of an ordinary rice bowl.

The food inside was piled up like a small mountain.

"Gulp."

Silas swallowed with difficulty.

"This is...?"

He tremblingly pointed at the slightly smaller, yet still enormous, basin of food in front of him.

Yuriko's eyes curved into a smile.

"Don't you martial artists all have big appetites? Eat more. Otherwise, you'll get hungry later."

Silas normally had a fairly large appetite himself. He considered eating the equivalent of three or four people's portions to be no problem at all.

But the nearly twenty-person portion sitting in front of him was clearly beyond what he could handle.

"Come on out, Gible."

He decisively threw out a Poké Ball.

He didn't have a big eater like Snorlax, but the newly hatched Gible certainly didn't have a small appetite either.

The food in front of them had clearly been carefully prepared and balanced, with nutrients that were particularly easy to absorb. Naturally, there was no need to worry about Gible having trouble eating it.

"Come on, little one. This is your breakfast today."

With his philosophy of raising a pseudo-Legendary Pokémon well-fed, Silas naturally placed the basin in front of Gible and scooped out a portion for himself.

"Wah..."

Gible stared silently at the mountain of food on the table, several times larger than its own body.

Was its Trainer trying to punish it for the mistake it had made yesterday by stuffing it to death?

Standing on the table, it looked toward Silas in the distance, its eyes filled with despair.

"So this is the Gible you caught at the Dragon's Den. It looks very energetic."

Seeing Gible bury its entire body into the basin and turn its grief into appetite, Yuriko couldn't help praising it.

"Eat slowly. If you aren't full, I'll give you more."

At those words, Gible's round body stiffened for a moment.

Then it began eating even more fiercely.

As long as it ate itself unconscious, it probably wouldn't have to eat anymore right?

The "simple" brunch lasted a full half hour before they finally finished eating.

Silas watched as Yuriko cheerfully headed toward another dining hall to prepare meals for the apprentices. At this point, he was thoroughly impressed by his newly met sister-in-law.

No wonder Chuck listened to Yuriko so obediently.

She was practically the pillar holding the entire household together.

"Burp..."

Beside him, Gible, whose body was almost impossible to distinguish from all the food it had consumed, collapsed onto the dining table and let out a difficult burp.

It swore that it would never eat this much again.

This had nearly cost it its life.

Chuck, meanwhile, was holding a steaming cup of tea in a manner that seemed strangely out of place.

After taking a sip, he spoke thoughtfully.

"The ruins near Route 38?"

After their conversation, Chuck had learned quite a bit from Silas.

While marveling at Silas's good fortune, he also offered his own thoughts and speculation.

"There were already quite a few ancient villages and towns left behind around Routes 38 and 39, so finding ruins there isn't particularly strange.

"As for the question of ownership.

"Cianwood obviously won't be a problem. You know what our relationship with Jasmine is like, and she's not the type to deliberately fight over things like this.

"As for Ecruteak, there's even less to worry about. With you being the 'Chosen One of Ho-Oh,' they'd probably be more than happy to hand everything over to you."

Chuck's opinion was essentially the same as Silas's.

"However, you still need to be careful when exploring the ruins, especially if Unown might be present."

Chuck's expression became serious.

"If they were ordinary Pokémon, I wouldn't be too worried about your safety. But Unown are different. I'm sure you understand that.

"If you're not careful, you might just disappear."

"I will," Silas answered seriously. "I haven't lived long enough yet, so don't worry, Senior Brother."

"You brat."

Chuck laughed and cursed him good-naturedly.

"Since you have something to do, I won't keep you here any longer.

"We can start the Gym battle later. I'll have the apprentices come over and watch so they can learn something.

"As for this afternoon, you can perform the formal initiation ceremony with me. And your sister-in-law still has a gift for you, doesn't she? It's a really good one."

"Then I won't hold back," Silas said with a mischievous grin.

He was quite curious about the "good thing" Chuck and Yuriko had repeatedly mentioned.

"Senior Brother, do you want me to go easy on you later? Otherwise, wouldn't it be embarrassing if you lost?"

"Oh? You're pretty confident, aren't you? Looking down on your Senior Brother already?

"Be careful. If you lose, I'll make you do a hundred repetitions of the basic exercises!"

"Eh~ We're family, aren't we? How about you do a hundred repetitions if you lose?"

The two men, stuffed to the point of barely being able to move, sat in their chairs and exchanged jabs.

They genuinely couldn't stand up.

"Come on. Let's walk it off."

Chuck rubbed his stomach.

He had originally planned to wait a little longer before beginning their battle, but he changed his mind.

A Pokémon battle was the best way to aid digestion. Why wait any longer?

More importantly, Silas's mouth was simply too irritating.

After recalling the Gible lying on the ground and continuously groaning in misery, Silas followed Chuck to a battlefield near the dojo.

Without Chuck needing to call anyone over, the apprentices who had been resting immediately gathered around on their own.

"Let's not waste any time.

"One-on-one battle. Both Pokémon will be restricted to the level of a Pseudo-Elite Pokémon. That way, they can learn something from the battle.

"Other than that, we'll follow the normal battle rules."

Chuck briefly explained the rules before pulling out a Poké Ball without saying another word. Clearly, he had already prepared for this.

"Poli!"

A Pokémon Silas knew extremely well appeared on the battlefield.

It was Poliwrath, the same Pokémon he had encountered not long ago.

"Senior Brother, you're taking this way too seriously."

Silas sounded half teasing and half serious.

"In that case, I won't hold back. Go, Serperior!"

"Seer!"

The light-green Serperior proudly raised its head beneath the morning sunlight, its red eyes fixed directly on Poliwrath.

Against a Water-type Pokémon, naturally a Grass-type Pokémon was the appropriate choice.

Silas had originally intended to send out Ampharos, but just moments ago, Serperior's Poké Ball had shaken on its own.

So Silas simply went along with it and changed his choice.

Even though Poliwrath was Chuck's signature Pokémon, Silas had complete confidence in Serperior.

After all, this Poliwrath wasn't part of Chuck's main team.
