Chapter 245 - Chapter 243: Phone Call

"So, each special team has a different function?" Lin Qiye asked.

"That's right." Wen Qimo nodded. "The reason why squads 001 to 004 are called special squads is because their functions are different from those of ordinary garrison squads.

"For example, 004's "Masked" squad's job is to hunt down powerful and mysterious individuals who appear in certain cities and are beyond the reach of the local Night Watch squads. In a sense, their mission is the most demanding."

"The 'Phoenix' squad of 003 prioritizes cases related to mysteries in the fog outside the Great Xia Dynasty. These mysteries are usually extremely dangerous, and the forbidden areas are extremely strange. When no new mysteries from outside the Great Xia Dynasty appear, they will also help the 'Masked' squad to perform their duties."

"002's 'Medium' squad is specifically tasked with hunting down extremely dangerous, non-mystical targets, such as the 'gods' of the Ancient God Church, and the top seats of the [believers]."

Lin Qiye waited for a long time, but Wen Qimo didn't continue speaking, so he couldn't help but ask in confusion:

"What about Special Squad 001?"

"I don't know. This squad is very mysterious and rarely appears in the Night Watch's sight. Apart from a few high-ranking members, almost no one knows where they are or what they are doing. All that is known is that this squad almost never recruits from outside. The last time they recruited new members was probably more than ten years ago."

Lin Qiye nodded thoughtfully.

"Of course, this so-called division of functions is not absolute, but rather a distinction of priority. After completing their own assigned functions, all teams need to assist the 'Masked' team in eradicating powerful and mysterious forces throughout the Great Xia."

Lin Qiye chatted briefly with Wen Qimo before getting up and walking into the cabin. He repeatedly scanned every corner of the plane with his mental energy, trying to find traces of [Bell Crand].

He searched the passenger cabin, cargo hold, engines, and even the aircraft's fuel reserves, but the little bug seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace.

After searching several times, the plane began to slowly descend. Looking out the window, dozens of ambulances were parked on the ground, their flashing lights illuminating the dim airport.

Inside the cockpit, An Qingyu, like a seasoned pilot, skillfully maneuvered the aircraft, bringing it to a smooth landing.

After the plane came to a stop, Xiao Hei first led the cleanup team onto the plane to transport all the bodies in the first-class cabin back, rescued Wen Qimo, and then allowed the passengers to disembark.

Lin Qiye leaned against the driver's seat, watching the passengers disembark one by one, his mental energy still carefully searching for the traces of [Bell Crand].

Just then, An Qingyu took off his black trench coat covered in blood and cuts, put on a clean white shirt, and stepped out of the driver's seat. With his black-rimmed glasses, he looked like an ordinary high school student.

"You really aren't coming back to the Night's Watch with me? You've done a great service this time. When we get back, the higher-ups won't hold you accountable for stealing the corpse. Then you won't have to live underground anymore," Lin Qiye said.

An Qingyu smiled. "The environment of the Night Watch isn't suitable for me. I'm just a madman who likes to dissect corpses."

"Actually, there are quite a few madmen among the Night's Watch."

"I don't believe them," An Qingyu shook his head. "Regardless, thank you for not arresting me this time; I owe you a favor."

After saying that, he waved to Lin Qiye, mingled with the passengers, and got off the plane.

By the time Lin Qiye got off the plane, almost all the ambulances had left, the noisy crowd had dispersed, and the entire airport had fallen silent once again.

The airplane lights were turned off, and Lin Qiye walked down the deserted stairs alone. In the darkness, the stars in the sky shone exceptionally bright.

He had only taken two steps when a familiar voice came from the side.

"Qiye!"

Lin Qiye was startled and turned to look. He saw seven figures standing not far away, with Hongying waving her arms excitedly and shouting at the top of her lungs:

"Qiye is awesome!!"

After shouting, she stretched out her hands, bent her fingers and placed them on top of her head, tilted her body slightly, and smiled as she made a heart shape with her hands for Lin Qiye.

Lin Qiye smiled and walked in that direction. "Sister Hongying, making such a loud noise will easily attract the staff."

"I don't care," Hongying said nonchalantly, her eyes shining. "Qiye, the way you jumped out of the plane and instantly killed the tavern owner was so cool! Can I learn that move?"

Chen Muye reluctantly pulled the excited Hongying back, looking into Lin Qiye's eyes with admiration.

"This time, our 136th squad has struck gold..."

"Right, Captain? My brother is good, hehe!~"

Lin Qiye scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.

"We'll gather the specific details when we get back." Chen Muye, pulling Hongying along, turned and walked into the distance. "Let's go, call it a day."

He had only taken two steps when Chen Muye's cell phone suddenly rang.

He was taken aback, took out his phone and glanced at it. Seeing the string of asterisks on the screen, his gaze sharpened, and he released his grip on Hongying's hand.

"You guys get in the car first, I need to take this call."

Chen Muye waved to the crowd, then turned and walked into the darkness.

Lin Qiye and the others exchanged glances and then walked towards the car. Hongying once again shamelessly wrapped her arms around Lin Qiye's neck, pestering him to teach her.

After walking a distance, Chen Muye glanced at the others laughing and joking, then turned around and silently answered the phone.

"Commander Ye, this is Chen Muye."

"..."

Chen Muye stood by the dimly lit wall, listening to the voice on the other end of the phone for a long time, his hands clenching tighter and tighter...

He took a deep breath, slowly closed his eyes, and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice:

"I see."

...

Outside Cangnan City.

A horse-drawn carriage sped along the highway, instantly overtaking a Porsche. The pageboy sitting in front of the carriage, driving the horses, glanced at the Porsche behind and made a face at it.

In this day and age, a horse-drawn carriage traveling on the highway is enough to astound everyone, but the surrounding drivers seem oblivious, continuing on their way as if they don't see it at all.

The carriage, like a ghost, passed through a truck in a semi-ethereal state, speeding past everyone's eyes without anyone noticing. Not only that, but even the highway surveillance cameras couldn't record its existence.

Ring ring ring...

The phone rang, and the pageboy took it out of his pocket, spoke a few words into the phone, and looked somewhat strange.

"Master, Commander Ye wants us to go back."

"Go back? Go back where?" Master Chen's voice came from inside the carriage.

"Return to Cangnan."

"We just came out of there, why are you going back?" Master Chen's voice sounded somewhat displeased. He held out his hand, "Give me your phone, I want to talk to him."

The pageboy handed the phone to Master Chen, who spoke to the person on the other end of the phone in the carriage, and then fell silent.

"Turn around and head back to Cangnan."

Master Chen's heavy voice came from inside the carriage.
