Chapter 232 - #232

What exactly is Karma?

In practical terms, it functions almost identically to Agent Smith in The Matrix.

In the simulated architecture of the Matrix, Agent Smith was originally a standard security program designed to purge anomalies.

Once he gained rogue self-awareness, he mutated into a self-replicating digital virus.

He had no true physical body inside the simulation, instead overwriting the code of anyone hardwired into the system.

Gifted with administrative clearance, he possessed superhuman physical traits—shattering concrete barriers with bare-knuckle strikes and rewriting human avatars into carbon copies of himself.

During their climactic clash, Neo awakened as the One, hacked Smith's source code, and tore him apart from the inside out.

Neo succeeded because his awakening allowed him to perceive the underlying code directly, overriding Smith's administrative authority.

Under core system logic, a security subroutine that is neutralized during an operation is automatically flagged as redundant and erased.

Following that protocol, Smith should have been permanently expunged.

However, a fatal paradox occurred: Smith had successfully terminated Neo prior to Neo's resurrection and counterattack.

From the system's baseline parameters, Smith had completed his objective and did not warrant deletion.

Yet, because Neo subsequently dismantled him, deletion remained mandatory.

It was an irreconcilable logical loop. The Matrix, strictly governed by rigid equations, could not process an agent being destroyed by an entity it had already logged as deceased.

Trapped within that system error, Smith slipped outside administrative control—rejecting erasure and evolving from a security subroutine into an unconstrained virus.

He rapidly propagated across the system, corrupting subroutines and human avatars alike to expand his domain.

This exact mechanism—infiltrating a foreign host and systematically overwriting their identity—mirrors the function of Karma.

The critical distinction lies in the extraction velocity, compression limits, and biological medium.

Smith is an abstract machine code construct born of synthetic architecture.

The Otsutsuki, by contrast, are living, biological organisms.

From a cellular perspective, life is dictated by genetic sequences—the physical blueprint governing biological development.

DNA functions as the primary medium for archiving, transmitting, and replicating cellular information across generations.

Genetic code possesses two defining traits: high-fidelity replication to preserve species baseline, and susceptibility to random mutations.

While most mutations induce cellular degradation, rare non-pathogenic variations drive natural selection, allowing organisms to adapt to shifting environments.

Yet the Karma of an Otsutsuki exhibits zero evolutionary drift—it executes a strictly immutable, predetermined data extraction cycle.

This level of biological stability resembles a hardened, compiled software script rather than organic biology.

The Otsutsuki effectively bridge the gap between biological organisms and synthetic code architectures.

It raises a compelling premise: the Otsutsuki clan may not be a naturally occurring species at all.

They might very well be an engineered, biologically programmed civilization.

For now, the full truth remains uncharted.

Excerpted from Mufasa's Otsutsuki Research Journal, Sunagakure Scientific Institute.

As the aerial fortress engagement concluded, Momoshiki and Kinshiki streaked through the upper atmosphere toward the Shinobi Alliance frontlines.

Mid-flight, both stopped dead in their tracks, exchanging sharp glances.

Momoshiki's eyes narrowed in disbelief. "What is the meaning of this?! How did Urashiki fall?"

As clan operatives, their sensory signatures remained linked across deep frequencies.

Urashiki's final psychic ping echoed faintly across the link: 'I engaged... and I got wiped out.'

Kinshiki's heavy brow furrowed. "Should we turn back?"

Momoshiki scowled, dismissing the notion.

"Our primary target is right ahead. We execute the trapper first, then double back to exterminate the insects who did this."

"A lumbering mortal isn't escaping anywhere."

Kinshiki nodded grimly. "Understood. Accelerating."

Miles below, the aftermath of Urashiki's fall was already undergoing a gruesome metamorphosis.

A colossal mass of living flesh had shadowed the three Otsutsuki along the ocean floor all the way to the coastline.

It ravenously consumed every shred of biological material scattered across the wasteland.

The severed remains of Urashiki raining down from the sky were instantly absorbed into its sprawling biomass.

The moment the divine flesh was digested, the cellular structure began to mutate wildly.

Within the courtyard of the Wind and Snow Mountain Villa, Conan sat across from Manyo over a game of Go.

Blinding golden beams suddenly pierced the horizon from every direction.

Both looked up in shock.

The dark, organic walls surrounding the estate shifted into a radiant, metallic gold.

Countless unblinking eyes embedded along the fleshy perimeter flared with luminous golden hues, their pupils warping into concentric, ring-like ripples.

The two stared, stunned by the sudden transformation.

"What is happening?!"

Orochimaru had once again engineered the impossible.

His mastery over cursed seals, senjutsu extraction, chakra fusion, and Kekkei Genkai integration remained peerless.

This monstrous entity—the synthesis of his ultimate flesh-crafting experiments and Sunagakure biomechanical tech—was his crowning achievement.

Having already devoured and adapted dozens of Bloodline Limits throughout the Land of Water, the organic super-structure was now assimilating pure Otsutsuki biology.

The golden radiance bleeding across the walls was the direct result of absorbing Urashiki's celestial DNA and ocular chakra.

The embedded biological oculars were violently mutating into functional Rinnegan.

The synthesis, however, was far from stable.

Dozens of immature eyes burst under the strain, dissolving into slurry.

The liquefied tissue was promptly reabsorbed by the main biomass, feeding newly regenerated ocular clusters that resumed the brutal evolutionary cycle.

Evolve, rupture, dissolve, regenerate.

Conan and Kazuha watched the ceiling convulse as hundreds of golden eyes strobed erratically like broken neon lights.

A violent tremor ripped through the ground beneath them.

The acidic sea churning outside the courtyard roiled in massive waves, venting plumes of pungent blue-green vapor throughout the interior cavern.

The surrounding organic walls contracted rhythmically, reacting to the massive influx of foreign power.

Conan and Kazuha braced themselves against the quakes.

Neither possessed the clearance to understand the sheer scale of the biological event taking place.

Assimilating the Rinnegan demanded an astronomical amount of energy.

Spanning leagues beneath the seabed, the colossal mass contracted inward, burning off vast reserves of its outer biomass to funnel pure metabolic fuel into its core.

The resulting energy draw unleashed localized earthquakes and tidal surges, filling the skies above with an eerie golden aurora.

"The air current is completely stagnant in here," Kazuha noted, steadying his footing. "I can't read the wind outside."

Conan adjusted his glasses. "If an opening did appear, the sheer pressure would pull us into the acid sea instantly."

"Can your defenses hold?" Kazuha asked.

Even without a visual on the exterior, the raw chakra spike radiating from the fleshy walls was staggering.

"Barely," Conan replied calmly. "Worst case, we fall back into the inner bunker."

'As long as the fundamental system rules hold, this mass cannot bypass my barrier,' he thought.

Kazuha let out a weary sigh.

"I wonder when we'll break free. The battlefield outside must be chaos."

"Soon," Conan replied dryly. "Once the casualties peak, things tend to wrap up."

Just as Momoshiki and Kinshiki drew near the main front, the engagement reached an abrupt and earth-shattering turning point.

When Uchiha Madara unleashed Tengai Shinsei, summoning two titanic meteorites into the sky above the battlefield, absolute despair gripped the Shinobi Alliance.

The dual celestial masses hung overhead like the unblinking eyes of an angry deity, casting massive shadows over the earth below.

The suffocating kinetic pressure alone paralyzed shinobi across the entire valley.

The younger generation froze in absolute terror, forgetting to breathe.

Veterans of Jiraiya and Tsunade's era could only stare upward with hollow expressions.

"Is this... the true scale of Uchiha Madara's power?"

"Only monsters like him could have shaped the Warring States period."

The reanimated Hokage recalled that distant era with bitter familiarity.

It wasn't that the previous generation lacked resolve—it was that Hashirama and Madara operated on a completely different paradigm of destruction.

Onoki wiped cold sweat from his brow, barking back at Kurotsuchi and Kitsuchi.

"Back in my youth, Lord Mu and I fought Madara directly!"

"We traded blows until his hands went numb!"

Kurotsuchi glanced at him skeptically. "Grandpa, you never mentioned being that tough back then."

Onoki managed a stiff, defensive cough.

"I fought the man in his prime!"

"Make sure you show your elders some respect from now on!"

High atop a towering wooden construct, Madara stood with his arms crossed, his deep laughter echoing across the dunes.

"Hahaha! Behold, shinobi of the desert!"

"You bear witness to the full might of Uchiha Madara! Consider it your highest honor!"

"Now then... shall we dance?"

Standing across from him on the desert floor, Mufasa dusted off his coat and grinned.

"You want culture? Fine. Let's trade poetry."

Mufasa cleared his throat, projecting his voice across the silent battlefield:

"Bright moon, when did you first appear? I lift my cup and ask the sky.

I know not what celestial year is passing in the halls on high.

I long to ride the wind back there, yet fear the jade-hewn towers so cold.

Dancing with my shadow clear, can heaven match the earthly world?"

The verse drifted cleanly through the tense, stagnant air.

Shinobi on both sides blinked in complete bewilderment.

Jiraiya scratched his chin, thoroughly perplexed. "Well... that's certainly refined. What is he getting at?"

Madara's brow twitched with irritation. "Is that your funeral dirge, boy?"

"Die? I'm planning on living for centuries," Mufasa chuckled, casually pointing a single finger toward the heavens.

"I was just calling down the moon."

"If you don't believe me, look up."

Madara cast his gaze skyward.

The legendary shinobi froze solid.

The entire Allied Shinobi Forces went dead silent.

High above the clouds, a real lunar mass had breached the atmosphere.

The descending celestial body tore through the two summoned meteorites like a freight train obliterating pebbles on the tracks.

A rain of molten rock and superheated debris cascaded down as the sheer mass of the moon blotted out the entire sky.

Absolute, crushing suffocation washed over the battlefield.

The world stopped spinning.

At that precise moment, a blinding crimson surge of heat ripped through the front lines.

Madara snapped his head around in sheer disbelief.

"What are you doing?!"
