Chloe Grant and Zoe Graham chatted for a long time and very late into the night.
Before they realized it, it was already past 1 AM, and Zoe had to go handle some things on her end, so their conversation came to an end.
At the end of the chat, Chloe reminded Zoe: No matter what, make sure to finish your studies. Come back anytime, and I'll be there to pick you up and help you settle in.
Zoe simply replied with two words: Thank you.
Putting her phone aside, Chloe rolled over and stared at the top of the tent, blinking her eyes.
"Chloe?"
Ralph Koch called from outside the tent, "Are you awake? If you are, I'll make you something to eat."
Chloe's stomach was growling; she was indeed hungry.
But she didn't have the energy to get up, so she just pretended to be asleep.
Ralph called a few times, but Chloe didn't respond, so he assumed she was already asleep and stopped calling.
Chloe kept her eyes closed, trying to hypnotize herself into sleeping.
