Delphine locked the door behind her, then leaned against the wall, panting as she walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked out at the scenery. Sure enough, the towering green mountains and lush trees stretched before her. The sky had not completely darkened yet, but there wasn't a single light visible from any home. This place truly was isolated from the world.
The room was huge, styled in a traditional Japanese manner, crafted entirely of wood with minimal furnishings. Apart from a very large bed, Delphine glanced around and couldn't find any phone or computer, any means of communication.
She went into the bathroom to freshen up, and soon heard the man's deep voice outside the door: "Delphine, open the door."
