She was directly asserting her sovereignty in front of Francine. Regardless of what kind of feelings the other had for Kyle, she did not want her boyfriend, or even future husband, to be coveted by other women.
Francine Howards looked at Mabel Quinn with hidden resentment. If not for this woman's appearance, she thought, Kyle would eventually fall in love with her, because only she could accept all of Kyle's past, only she was truly worthy to stand by his side and help him achieve a better future.
And Mabel Quinn, she understood nothing at all!
"I'll wait for you downstairs," Francine Howards said to Kyle Kinston, then turned and left. As she turned around, she gave a provocative smile to Mabel Quinn, as if certain that Kyle would follow her out.
