Chapter 285 - Among the Living Dead

The purpose of mobilizing the walkers this time is to surround the bases of the new and unknown group of the Saviors, and rescue those who were captured while the bastards are surrounded.

However, considering that the Saviors' camp is very far away, it will take a long time to walk to that place, so the six are only a reference for the others. Jason also fears that everyone is inexperienced and might make some mistake at the beginning, so he took the initiative and became the first so that he could be taken as a reference. The leader who guides the group is essential, so it will not affect the others' following.

But walking for a long time is not convenient, so groups were prepared to replace them along the way. Jason chose Mendez, Daryl, Victor, and many other people who could lead the course of the horde.

At their current speed, it will take about two days to move this group of walkers to the Saviors' camp, during which time they will ensure that the enemies have no chance to escape if they are spotted long before their arrival. But for that, they need to have control even at night, which is a rigorous plan without flaws.

Two hours quickly passed and the horde of walkers continued moving forward. At that moment, several walkers came out of the forest alongside them.

The difference with other walkers is that their clothes are slightly clean, although there is some dirt smeared deliberately, they are obviously much cleaner and this can be seen at a glance.

These are the people who will switch shifts. This group is also confirmed by Jason's people, and if everything went well, it should be Mendez who leads the group. The few people who had just arrived let out a long, low growl almost at the same time.

These walkers who left the horde quickly turned back and rejoined the team. Glenn was now completely convinced. Looking at the calm-looking captain at his side, he really didn't know how he could figure out something so strange.

Since this method is not a problem, the next step is the repetitive mechanical work until reaching the enemy's gates.

Jason had other things to do, so he went straight back to Alexandria and everyone was ready.

This time he needs to take a large number of weapons, so many people are sent, and each person must carry two or three weapons.

And Negan, who had just joined, was left by him at the base. After all, Alexandria also needs to stay protected, and so Aaron and several more Alexandrian natives stayed, Glenn and Maggie also stayed.

About 60 or 70 people participated in the operation, and soon everyone was ready, the few buses they were driving here also played a role at this moment, and everyone planned to drive toward the enemy.

"Listen, you already know the plan we will follow, but I want you to keep in mind that danger is everywhere. I hope everyone can return safely. I won't say anything unnecessary. Let's go!"

While the walkers were still on the road, some other preparations needed to be made. Daryl had already gone to the enemy's fortress in advance, and Jason would also drive later. They acted as outposts and were responsible for finding out the enemy's work and rest times.

The rest would then hide somewhere in the town under their command, waiting for the arrival of the walkers.

A total of more than three hundred walker masks have been prepared, and almost 200 remain after excluding what they need. According to estimates, it should be enough. The plan is currently going well. The other side should be busy dealing with the newly captured ones from these days, so everything is on schedule, and on Daryl's side everything has been quiet.

...

Just as Jason and the others mobilized the group of walkers, several loose groups from the central base were also operating in different positions.

Unlike the growth base that had already merged with the training base, which right now was facing the growing appearance of red-eyed walkers. Carol and her group had arrived at the town Rick mentioned earlier.

"Did you find anything?"

"Don't rush, it's not that easy to find someone. First search the town and see if there's any clue."

Carol held a rifle and looked at the surrounding houses with slight daze. This place was somewhat similar to her home. At some point, she gradually forgot the man who caused her countless pains. Now she knows all she has to do is stand out from the crowd.

Only when one's strength reaches a certain level can people recognize it. After meeting people like Jason, Rick, and Shane, she confirmed this idea more and more.

All these people can gain more voices because of their strength, and only with a stronger voice can you control your own destiny.

This is also the main reason why she is willing to support Lori, not just because of their relationship, but also because of Rick himself.

In any case, Rick's existence is an insurance policy. The relationship between her and Lori allows Rick to take better care of her. If something happens to her, Lori will undoubtedly be the most affected, and she too would lose a friend and strong support.

So Carol wants to find Rick as soon as possible to guarantee the safety of the group. This is what she's thinking at this moment, she also wants to make sure Lori doesn't do anything foolish like last time.

Carol has never been someone who likes to express herself, she has a deep mind and acts on her own almost all the time. It is hard for anyone else to distinguish her true thoughts.

But it must be admitted that she is truly loyal to Rick's organization. Although her actions are often extreme, the process of changing from a single mother to the most powerful woman of all requires a sacrifice of blood, doesn't it?

"Carol, over here!"

Not far away, Richard stood in front of a residential building and signaled her, the first to run over was Lori, she rushed to the door and asked anxiously.

"What did you find?"

"There should have been someone here before, it seems there was more than one person before, and there's a corpse inside."

"What!"

A few people quickly entered the house and a pungent, rancid smell filled the room, Lori didn't care about these things and immediately ran to the bedroom door.

A corpse appeared before her eyes, she slowly walked forward with a bit of trembling, and the sight of the corpse gradually appeared in front of her eyes.

This is not one of our people!

"Thank God, I knew it."

Tears unconsciously ran down Lori's face, she was very afraid—would Rick die? Would he become a walker? Would he be captured? These chaotic thoughts kept spinning in her mind.

Looking at her, Carol understood how she felt, she felt the same when Ed died.

Carol stepped forward, put her arm around Lori's shoulders, and said in an understanding tone.

"Don't worry, they're fine, let's keep chasing them."

"Does she only know how to cry?" asked a woman in the group with a look full of exhaustion.

...

Soon they found traces—walker tracks, car tire marks, bullet casings, and broken-down cars.

All this indicated that the others were still alive. Lori's eyes grew brighter and brighter and she saw the hope that her husband was alive.

Not long after—

"Stop."

"What is this?"

"Terminal, a refuge for everyone!"

Lori grabbed Richard's shoulder and said anxiously.

"Rick and the others must have gone there! Let's go find them."
