Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Ayla took a deep breath and knocked on the door,

"Come in." His voice boomed from inside.

She felt her heart hammer in her chest, her palms were sweating, and she walked in and closed the door.

"You called for me, Sir." She kept her tone the same, but the words felt strange in her head.

She was overthinking this too much and needed to breathe,

"Are you planning on talking from there?" He was still writing.

Ayla realized that she still stood by the door, and her hand still clasped the door knob "Of course not." She stammered.

She walked towards the chair and sat down very carefully, but for what reason? What was she doing?

"Why are you acting as if I'm going to bite you?"

Ayla swallowed, because it felt as if you are going to bite me, her subconscious fought back. "Of course not Sir."

"You don't plan on running, do you?"

"No, not at all, Sir." She replied. She hoped he had not just called her to mock her. She maybe deserved it.

"Thinking hard?"

She shook her head, "No, not at all, is there a reason you called me?"

"I can't call my staff?"

Her eyes widened, "No, not at all."

"Then what did you mean?"

"I just have a lot of work, Sir, that is all, but that doesn't matter."

"So I'm overworking you?"

"No, that is not what I meant." She sighed. He was twisting her words for absolutely no reason.

He put his pen down and looked at her directly, "Do you prefer Ayla or Kelsey?"

She jumped a bit, and there it was. He did not waste any time.

"Ayla is fine." Her voice came out low as she played with her hands.

"Ayla, so how long were you going to pretend for?"

How should she play it? All the excuses came flooding in, but Ayla knew that she had to put this to bed.

"I….I mean......it happened so long ago, there is no need to bring it up......."

"You were going to act as if it never happened?" He replied.

She had to make him understand, "I mean, it makes it easier for both of us."

He looked at her as if she was talking a lot of garbage, "How would it Ayla?"

"I mean, I'm your worker, and I didn't want things to be awkward with the way we left off."

"It was your choice, Ayla, to leave like that."

She could hear something in his tone.

"I know, but I'm sorry, I should have been honest, but I didn't want to corner you."

"Corner me?"

"We don't owe each other anything, and I wanted a clean slate."

"A clean slate?"

"Yes, this is a new job for me, and you know partly about Derrick, so this job was my fresh start. It is a clean slate for us as worker and boss. "

"You sure do take the time to remind me of that all the time."

"That is the way it should be, Sir."

"Now you add Sir to create a bigger barrier between us."

"That is not what I'm trying to do."

"Then what is Ayla?"

"Sorry." Maybe her apology would placate him.

He got up and stood in front of her,

"Do you remember what you said to me the other night?"

"I do remember vaguely, but I'm not sure which part you are referring to."

"You said I had to be blind or drunk."

She nodded, and could see why he would take offence, "I did not mean you were blind."

"Give me your hand."

Ayla placed her hand in his, he pulled her up, and she was in between his legs with her hands on his chest.

Before she could protest his mouth took hers, Ayla struggled a bit, a few seconds later she melted under him, he pulled back after a few moments.

She was breathless and flustered,

"Do you feel that?"

"Huh?" she replied in a daze.

His hand tightened around her waist, and then it hit her. He was hard, and she blushed.

"I'm not blind nor drunk, Ayla, I am attracted to you. I want you more than ever."

The door opened, and she pushed out of Xavier's arms hastily.
