They were supposed to press the trigger, but Max was quick enough to signal at Zara before she pulled out the handgun tucked to her thigh.
Valeria had both hands raised, showing she was unarmed except for the long curved dagger around her waist and the handgun next to it.
Her face, arms, legs were all painted in green and brown. It was hard to differentiate her from the surroundings.
"Valeria?" Max called out with a puzzled look, motioning at Zara to be at ease.
"My, quite a surprise. You recognized me without mistaking me for Viktoria?"
Valeria feigned a gasp and covered her mouth as she giggled.
"..."
However, sensing the awkward silence from Max and Zara at her appearance, she waved her hand casually.
"Don't look at me like that. I had to grind leaves into paste and rub mud over my body just to hunt you guys. The perfect camouflage, isn't it?"
She then raised her hands to show she was unarmed.
In response to her words, neither Max nor Zara reacted.
