The sun is heavy and red, setting in the sky, but not even its heat reaches me. In the full stadium, with thousands of people thrumming and singing along, the lights glow brightly in the almost darkened stadium.
Sweat is trickling down my body, the stage floor thumping, music alive and flowing through my veins as I jump and dance, belting out the words, singing, and smiling.
I feel alive.
Running to the edges of the stage, hand outstretched as I brush fingers with the fans, flirt and even laugh, be one with them through music, through what has brought us all here today. We are seamless, one with my band mates, knowing and feeling the stage, giving our all, until it all ends.
Too soon.
I have never felt this kind of loss before in my performances. And now, I stand in the empty stadium, one that was so full and alive, so big too, and never-ending. Glowing too. But now, it's grey and quiet.
