Thanos looked at Noah and suddenly laughed.
The laughter faded quickly.
His expression turned solemn as his aura surged once more, heavy and terrifying.
"Your mission is to eliminate me, isn't it?"
Thanos put on his helmet and leveled his double-bladed sword at Noah.
"Then show me what gives you the confidence to attempt that."
"You'll see," Noah replied softly.
His voice echoed across the battlefield.
In the next instant, Noah's expression sharpened.
A faint golden light wrapped around his body as black runes slowly revolved in the air.
This time was different.
He wasn't facing insignificant members of the Black Order.
No-there were four of them missing one, since Supergiant wasn't present.
Still, none of that mattered.
In this universe, the Black Order had been weakened to an embarrassing degree.
Ebony Maw, once a fearsome sorcerer, had been thrown into space and frozen to death.
Cull Obsidian had been blown apart by Wakandan force fields.
Only Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight had died with any semblance of dignity.
Even then, their close combat had been suppressed by Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff.
As for the rest of the alien army?
They were mowed down by machine guns.
Noah still remembered Bucky and Rocket firing indiscriminately while rows of enemies fell.
High attack.
Low defense.
That was this universe.
Even so, Thanos was still a tenth-tier existence.
Noah's victory over Fat Thor had been easy only because Thor had degenerated.
And it needed to be said clearly-
Noah had merely knocked Thor unconscious and burned off his hair and beard.
Nothing more.
Taking a deep breath, Noah let his magic surge.
The black runes revolved faster.
Golden light poured from his body like a newborn sun descending onto the battlefield, coating everything in gold.
In an instant, Noah vanished.
When he reappeared, he was already standing high in the sky.
At the same time, space behind Thanos trembled.
Red heat and icy blue cold intertwined.
A strange, sharp sword formed and stabbed straight through Thanos's back.
"Hmph."
Thanos snorted coldly and spun with terrifying agility.
His blade struck the light sword head-on.
It shattered instantly.
The collision sent a violent shockwave through space itself, and the alien troops gathered nearby were reduced to dust in an instant.
Thanos didn't even look at them.
With a casual motion, he accelerated and leapt.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared directly in front of Noah.
One strike.
No wasted movement.
No flourish.
Yet that single blow caused Noah's golden glow and revolving runes to freeze for a moment.
Space rippled like water.
Noah frowned.
The next instant, his figure blurred.
Thanos passed straight through him.
He slammed into the ground, creating a deep crater.
Turning his head, Thanos looked up at the sky and laughed dismissively.
"As expected," his voice rumbled. "Mystic arts practitioners only know these tricks."
"Boring. Despicable."
"What does it feel like," he sneered, "to be a rat hiding in dimensional space?"
"I'm a sorcerer," Noah replied calmly, "not a warrior, you idiot."
He smiled faintly.
"Did you expect me to trade blows with you like Thor?"
"In my memory," Thanos said flatly, "your teacher was quite good at that."
"Perhaps," Noah tilted his head. "But I'm not her."
"And I'm not from this universe."
"I have my own way of fighting."
As his words fell, Noah released his domain.
The first exchange had already told him enough.
Thanos's attack power was horrifying.
That single jump and strike had shattered four of Noah's ninth-tier magic shields.
Four.
Noah couldn't afford arrogance.
Thanos's speed was absurd.
To Noah, the battle felt faster than the movie ever did.
Spatial evasion was possible-but Noah knew his reactions wouldn't keep up forever.
He wasn't Obito.
He wasn't Minato.
So he chose the simplest and most brutal option.
His domain.
At the same time, his crimson eye hovered at the edge of activation.
If something went wrong, the Dragonborn power would be unleashed immediately.
A strange, terrifying rhythm spread outward from Noah.
It felt like a cosmic resonance.
The power expanded rapidly, covering the battlefield as a massive halo appeared, visible even to the naked eye.
Deep blue.
Emerald green.
Interwoven.
Within it were four smaller halos of different colors.
At their convergence point, Noah stood silently.
At this moment, he felt detached from the universe.
No.
He was a universe.
The sensation left everyone stunned.
Even Thanos hesitated.
"This is..." Thanos muttered.
"A universe?" Strange whispered in disbelief.
Looking up at the young figure in the sky, Strange felt his breath catch.
He no longer doubted Noah's title as Sorcerer Supreme.
Within that halo, he felt space and time themselves.
How could he not recognize it?
Yet he had never imagined those powers could be used like this.
And those four colored halos?
This universe didn't have anything like that.
Or perhaps it did-but he didn't know how.
Creating a universe...
What kind of madness was that?
"Stephen," Wong asked quietly, "you can do this too, right?"
"...No."
Strange stared blankly for a long moment before answering.
"How can that be?" Wong asked in disbelief. "You're both Sorcerer Supremes-why-"
"Is the gap that large?" Strange finished for him.
"We're not from the same universe. Haven't you noticed? His magic is completely different from ours."
Wong fell silent.
He had noticed long ago.
What he hadn't expected was just how deep the difference went.
Noah felt the stability of his domain and looked down at Thanos.
The corners of his lips lifted slightly.
"Second round," he said. "How about it?"
Thanos had fully recovered his composure now.
But his eyes were sharp with caution.
Creating a universe-even a flawed one-was something beyond logic.
Yet instead of retreating, his blood burned hotter.
Opponents like this were rare.
With Odin and the Ancient One gone, rarer still.
In the past, Thanos might have withdrawn.
This time, he didn't want to.
"Second round?" Thanos smiled slowly.
"Then let it begin."
