Within a few minutes, the nurses had settled Samantha into a ward and connected all the devices needed to her body. As soon as they gave the go ahead, Kaia was the first to rush into the room to her best friend's side.
Her hands went straight to cover her mouth, trembling, at the sight of Samanatha's pale body. It was as though her entire color was drained. She could almost see the color of the blood moving in her veins and it made her tremble even more.
"Samanatha," she whispered, taking her cold hands gently as tears rolled down her cheeks. She wanted to speak more but her heart clenched in pain of seeing Samatha in this state. The last thing Samanatha deserved in this world was this.
If only I had followed her. Kaia thought with a gulp of her tears. She inwardly blamed herself for it. And she knew the attack wasn't just a coincidence. She could tell it was likely they found out she was connected to her.
