[Noon] [40 minutes later]
The street-level set was ready.
Fake storefronts lined the block, windows dressed with posters and sale signs that looked convincing from a distance. A bank entrance sat at the corner, its glass doors reflecting the midday lights. Trash bags were placed just right near the alley, and steam drifted lazily from a vent to sell the illusion of a living city.
Then the safety pads were in place for the landing scene, colored as asphalt. Andrew was on top of the ledge, metal wires strapped to his waist and shoulders.
Chloe stood just inside the bank doors with Trixie at her side.
Chloe wore a simple jacket, jeans, and flats. Trixie had on a bright hoodie and sneakers, her hair tied back neatly. Nothing flashy. Just two people who looked like they belonged on a normal New York sidewalk.
A makeup artist leaned in and did one last check, then stepped back.
"You good?" Alex asked from behind the monitor.
Chloe nodded. "We're good."
Trixie gave a thumbs-up that was far too enthusiastic for a background civilian.
Alex smiled. "Alright. Remember, walk out naturally. You do not know anything bad is about to happen yet. Let it come to you."
Trixie nodded very seriously.
The background actors took their places. The thugs waited just inside the alley, loose jackets and rough expressions already set. The stunt coordinator gave them a quiet reminder of spacing and timing.
The set went quiet.
"Camera rolling."
"Scene G12," Alex called. "Take one."
"Action."
The bank doors opened.
Chloe stepped out first, holding Trixie's hand. They walked onto the sidewalk at an easy pace, passing the windows and moving toward the corner. Chloe glanced down at Trixie like they were mid-conversation.
Trixie nodded along, pretending to listen very hard.
As they passed the alley, a voice cut through the air.
"Hey."
Chloe stopped.
Four men stepped out of the alley slowly, spreading just enough to block the path.
"Where do you think you're going?" one of them asked.
Chloe pulled Trixie a little closer. Her posture stiffened, her shoulders rising just a touch. She looked around, then back at them.
"We do not want any trouble," Chloe said, steady but cautious.
Another thug smirked. "Good. Then hand over the bag, phones, jewelry... Everything."
Trixie tightened her grip on Chloe's hand. She looked up at her, eyes wide, fear creeping in right on cue.
Chloe swallowed as she took a step back. "Please. Don't."
"Hurry up," one of them replied, stepping closer.
The tension thickened.
Then a sound of a sharp thwip echoed through the street.
Spider-Man dropped down from the building overhead and landed between them and the thugs in a low crouch.
The thugs froze.
Spider-Man straightened slowly and turned his head from one to the other.
"Okay," he said calmly. "I am going to need you guys to take about five steps back into that alley and rethink all of your life choices."
The thugs stared.
Chloe's mouth fell open just a little. Trixie gasped.
"Cut," Alex called.
The moment broke.
Crew members moved in. The thugs relaxed and stepped back. Andrew lifted his mask slightly and smiled at Trixie.
She smiled back like she had just seen a real superhero land in front of her.
Alex checked the monitor once. "That was clean. Reset for cut two."
The set reset quickly.
The thugs took their positions again, this time spread out for the fight. The FX team attached ropes and wires to their waists and shoulders to create the pull and push effects during the fight scene. Chloe and Trixie were guided a few steps back for safety. The stunt team gave final signals.
Andrew pulled his mask down.
"Camera rolling."
"Scene G12," Alex said. "Take two."
"Action."
Spider-Man moved.
The first thug lunged, and Spider-Man sidestepped easily. He made the hand gesture to shoot a web. The rope pulled the man to the brick wall behind him and he pretended to be webbed to the wall. Another charged and was flipped cleanly over Spider-Man's shoulder, as the rope pulled him up mid-air and he was upside down to a light post, arms wrapped together.
The third swung wildly. Spider-Man ducked, swept his legs, and webbed him flat to the pavement. The fourth tried to run.
"Ah ah," Spider-Man said, flicking his wrist.
The rope yanked the man backward, slamming him gently but firmly against a dumpster, pinning him there.
It was over in seconds.
Spider-Man dusted his hands off like he had just finished a chore.
He turned toward Chloe and Trixie.
"You two okay?" he asked.
Chloe nodded, still stunned. "Yes. Yes, we are. Thank you for saving us."
Trixie stepped forward half a step, eyes wide with awe. "You saved us."
Spider-Man crouched slightly to her level. "That is kind of my thing."
Chloe smiled, relief clear on her face. "Thank you, Spider-Man."
"You are welcome," he said with a mock salute.
Police sirens echoed faintly in the distance.
Spider-Man looked up. "That is my cue."
He aimed his hand at the next building as the rope pulled him up.
Trixie raised her hand and waved with everything she had. "Thank you, Spider-Man!"
He turned mid-swing and waved back.
Then he was gone.
"Cut," Alex called.
...
[7 PM] [Garage]
The set had finally gone quiet.
Lights powered down one by one. Cables were coiled. Crew members said their goodbyes and walked out in tired clusters, the kind of exhaustion that came with a job well done.
In the garage behind the studio, Alex leaned against a concrete pillar, jacket slung over his shoulder. Trixie was half-asleep in Chloe's arms, fingers still clutching a small Spider-Man sticker someone from props had given her.
Chloe stopped in front of Alex and shifted Trixie gently so she would not wake up. Then she extended her hand without saying anything.
Alex did not comment. He simply reached into his pocket and dropped the car keys into her palm.
Chloe closed her fingers around them. "Thank you."
She smiled faintly and turned toward the car. Alex opened the back door so Chloe could settle Trixie in her seat properly, buckling her in. Trixie mumbled something about swinging and flying but did not wake up.
Alex got into the passenger seat. Chloe started the engine and eased the car out of the garage.
[On the way to the penthouse]
Alex leaned his head back against the seat. "She did really well today."
Chloe kept her eyes on the road. "She had fun."
"That too," he said. "But I am serious. She reacted naturally. That is not easy, even for adults."
Chloe did not answer right away.
Alex glanced at her. "I am not pushing. Just saying she has a natural talent, just like her mom."
Chloe nodded slowly. "I could see that. And you can't butter me up with that little compliment."
"Well, maybe I'll use real butter... Then we'll see," He smirked.
She simply chuckled, shaking her head.
They drove in silence for a moment. Trixie shifted in the back seat and sighed softly in her sleep.
Chloe's thoughts drifted. She remembered Trixie's face when Spider-Man landed in front of her. The awe and joy. The way she waved with her whole arm as if the moment mattered more than anything else in the world.
But she also knew the other side of it. Cameras, attention, expectations... A childhood spent under lights instead of trees and schoolyards.
Trixie was only ten.
Alex's voice pulled her back gently. "If you ever want to talk about it, we can. No rush."
Chloe exhaled. "I know."
She thought about the future. About stability, opportunities and having someone like Alex there to guide her, protect her, and make sure she did not get swallowed by the industry. She thought about how every parent wanted their child to grow up confident and capable, with doors open instead of closed.
If it worked out, it could be amazing. If it did not, Trixie would still be loved and supported, no matter what.
But there was one more voice that mattered.
"I would need to talk to Dan," Chloe said finally.
Alex nodded. "Of course."
The rest of the drive passed quietly. The city faded into the familiar streets near the penthouse. Chloe pulled up to the entrance and parked.
Alex looked back at Trixie one more time, sleeping peacefully. "Today was a good day for her."
Chloe smiled softly. "Yeah. It really was."
...
[Next morning] [Penthouse]
Alex woke up slowly, the kind of slow where sunlight already filled half the bedroom and the sheets felt too warm to leave. He sat up, rubbed his face, then scratched his butt out of pure habit. He looked to his right. Caroline was lying there, naked, sleeping soundly. He kissed her forehead before getting down.
He walked toward the bathroom in his boxers
As soon as he opened the door, he froze mid-step.
Chloe was on her knees in front of the washing machine. Her upper body was halfway inside the machine, arms stretched forward as she fished for something stuck in the back. She wore only a black bra and matching underwear, nothing else. She was wriggling her butt.
The morning light came through the small frosted window and caught the curve of her spine, the smooth skin along her sides.
Alex felt the blood rush south immediately. Instant, undeniable, almost painful. His boxers did nothing to hide it.
He stood there for a second, brain blank, mouth dry.
Alex cleared his throat.
"Morning," he said.
Chloe's voice came muffled from inside the washing machine. "Morning."
'Hehehe. I'm gonna eat you up.' He took one step closer, eyes locked on the way her hips shifted as she tried to reach deeper. "What are you doing?"
"I'm stuck," she answered. She wriggled her butt again, slow and deliberate. "Can you pull me? Please."
Alex licked his lips. Heat was already pooling low in his stomach, his erection straining hard against the thin fabric of his boxers. Morning action sounded perfect right now. He moved behind her, placed both hands on her waist, fingers spreading over warm skin. He kissed her butt cheeks and gave a firm tug.
Chloe slid out smoothly, far too smoothly, like she had never been stuck at all.
She straightened up, turned to face him, and smirked. Her cheeks were a little flushed from being bent over, hair slightly messy.
"Thank you," she said sweetly. "I'll see you at breakfast."
She gave him a quick wink, stepped around him, and walked out of the laundry room without another word. Her hips swayed just enough to make sure he watched every second of it.
Alex stood there, hands still hovering in the air where her waist had been.
"What the…?" He blinked. "I… Eh!"
He looked down at the very obvious tent in his boxers, then at the empty doorway, then back at his own hands like they had personally betrayed him.
He let out a long, frustrated breath and dragged a hand down his face.
"Evil," he muttered. "Pure evil."
He adjusted himself with a grimace, turned on the cold tap at the sink, and splashed water on his face, trying to convince his body that breakfast was still the priority.
It wasn't working.
