Elena acted instantly. She used her ability to slow down time before blinking directly beside Mrs. Mason in a flash.
"Whoa!" A collective gasp escaped from the refugees, startled by Elena's sudden appearance.
Before anyone could ask what was happening, the ground suddenly softened beneath them. A massive, sturdy mutated worm burst upward with its jaws wide open, ready to strike!
"There's a mutated beast hiding below! Ahhh!"
"Move! Get out of my way!"
"Stop pushing me! I don't have space anymore—the sandstorm is still raging outside!"
Panic erupted among the crowd, but Elena was already one step ahead. With a cold sweep of her blade, she decapitated the beast before it could touch anyone.
