The giant swung first, and Clubs saw the iron club coming and ducked under it. It passed over her head so close that the wind of it dragged her short hair straight back. It hit the broken road behind her and the stones exploded. Chunks of pavement went flying in every direction, and one of them caught a dead soldier crawling out of the rubble and took his head clean off his shoulders.
She was already inside his reach, both fists up, the reels on her gloves clattering, and her right hand hit him in the ribs.
BOOM.
The punch went off against his side like a grenade, fire and force bursting outward in a ring. It should have folded him in half.
He grunted, and that was all. He took a single half step to the side and looked down at her with that wide yellow grin, smoke curling off his torn shirt.
"Good one," he said. "My turn."
