Clubs had a lollipop in her mouth and a man's face under her boot when the message came in from her own people.
[Ga-eun] East market's breaking. Five of them. They're not like the others, Clubs. We can't hold.
She read it twice. Then she took her boot off the man's face, which didn't matter much anymore, since he'd stopped moving a while ago, and looked down the street toward the east market.
Smoke. A lot of it.
"Well," she said around the lollipop. "That's rude."
She started walking.
Her people were holding the mouth of the market street when she got there. Seven of them, crouched behind an overturned food cart and a stack of crates, every one of them bloody somewhere. Ga-eun was at the front, a broad-shouldered girl with a buzzcut who could hit harder than most men twice her size. She had a long cut down one arm and was holding it closed with her other hand.
When she saw Clubs coming, her whole face changed. Relief, and then something close to fear.
